I like having the icons like this, but unfortunately the bad thing is when you have a notification it's not visible on the icons. You only know if you've received a message when you actually enter the app.
The problem with the setup is the facts that no badges come through with a custom setup. That is the biggest downfall about customization with the iPhone!
