What I love about Christian Rock, especially by bands such as Skillet, Thousand Foot Krunch, and this one, is that the songs can be enjoyed by both Christians and non-Christians alike. The songs hold different meanings for everyone, although, from a Christian perspective, they can be quite deep. (My interpretation of this song holds about how lonely a true Christian's life can be, considering the internal changes that takes place when one becomes 'born again', making them feel and act differently from everyone around them.) In my opinion, Christian Rock is deeper than a LOT of the stuff being played on contemporary Christian radio right now.
I found this song about two years ago and somehow I never quite knew how to interpret it. It being about 'being born again' is eye-opening. That would mean the singer is addressing the devil in the chorus right?
@@everythinggirly916 Not necessarily. I interpret it definitely from the perspective of someone newly born again, struggling with the new challenges of still living in a sinful world, around sinners, while taking on the growing pains of becoming more Christlike. So I think the singer is telling Jesus that he’ll continue his journey despite the pain of separation he might have from those he used to identify as, but can no longer be like anymore because he is a new creation. And again, this is my own interpretation. Hope this helps!
They dont take the time to enjoy this genre of music and dissect the meaning of the lyrics. They probably think the same as to why some people dont like rap or other genres. Its not that they're followers they're there own person with the same taste in music it is just their opinion. Its just comes down to there own preference and what they're willing to listen to.
People before quarantine: "Yeah, socializing, and hanging with people, oh yeah...!" People during quarantine: "Never want to leave this place and right now see it in a different way..."
You know, it's okay. Whether you believe in God or not, it's fine. Even if this is confirmed to be christian rock, I think the band wouldn't mind atheist fans. As long as your song triggers emotions in someone, you have done something right. If this song is the song someone loves to sing in the shower, it doesn't matter if they believe or not. People snapping on atheists should keep this in mind, as well as people snapping on believers expressing their faith. We're free to believe what we want to believe. Songs are available to everyone. Let's just enjoy the music, folks :)

Music is an awesome thing. It is the ultimate freedom. Teacher's in school may critique you for art and fill you with unnecessary nonsense from books regarding symbolism and other rubbish. But music is freedom. It allows for you to find your own message, establish your own reality for it. There are countless songs, and each of them have their own story and theme behind it, and even if the artist chooses that end for himself, invariably it is up to us, the fans, to determine what the lyrics mean to us. And from that we can draw whatever conclusion, whatever reality we want. A christian can draw whatever divine inspiration he wants from songs. Even if the artist isn't christian. The same is also true for the atheist, he can equally take from a song and identify with it how he may, even if the artist was a christian. Anyways. That's how I feel music is......
"I would have never thought the pain could grow, so i'll break it knowing what you said the pain is what you make it, sadly you are so mistaken" "I will take you with a grain and step into the changes throw away the empty heart" "Even if you take me on I'll stand the lonely"
I literally see the message of the song as a significant other who doesn't try. the singer is in pain because the other person barely even recognises that they are there, And even if the person was to start a relationship with that potential significant other, he'd still be lonely, because it'd be like they weren't even around.
A heart made of stone callous and bone Fracture and tear it out to let it go And to think I called it my own And I would have never though the pain could grow So I'll break it knowing what you said The pain is what you make it sadly you are so mistaken I will take you with a grain and step into the changes Throw away the empty heart Right now Never want to leave this place And right now see it in a different way So right now even if you take me on I'll stand, the lonely Stand, the lonely It's harder to know just where to go If only the stars aligned the sunsets glowed I don't need a calm in a storm Or something to scream about with empty lungs So I'll break it knowing what you said The pain is what you make it sadly you are so mistaken I will take you with a grain and step into the changes Throw away the empty heart Right now Never want to leave this place And right now see it in a different way So right now even if you take me on I'll stand, the lonely Stand, the lonely Right now Never want to leave this place And right now see it in a different way So right now even of you take me on I'll stand, the lonely Stand, the lonely Right now Never want to leave this place And right now see it in a different way So right now even if you take me on I'll stand, the lonely Stand, the lonely

Here is my interpretation of this song. Depression: "even if you try to take me on," I'll still cower in the depression "I'll stand the lonely, stand the lonely" throw away the empty heart-what once was, the heart full of joy shattered, broken into a million pieces. Right now I never want to leave this place... "Still cower in the depression" right now see(ing) it in a different way...I'll stand the lonely. Song is about staying in depression. At least in my opinion. Awesome song nonetheless
Your interpretation of the song is slightly off. "I'll stand the lonely" does not imply depression, but rather clinging to something that everyone else leaves, such as your beliefs or values, and therefore "standing alone/lonely". Many lyrics of the song simply do not match with a theme of depression, especially when looked at as a whole. For example, "step into the changes", "throw away the empty heart", and "the pain is what you make it" have an almost opposite meaning compared to that of depression. The song as a whole tends to express an individual movement towards something, giving up what you had before, and continuing along an unsure, painful, and lonely path for something else. Please note; I am not trying to place my opinion above yours. I am only stating my logical analysis of this song and am attempting to keep my personal interpretations out of it because of my own interest and like for this song. There is no doubt that nearly every song is open to a degree of interpretation from the listener, but most songs also have a general direction or topic of which they focus on. This song is not one that is about "staying in depression". As the song says itself: "sadly you are so mistaken".

This whole comment section is hurting me on a personal level. All the Christians that I see commenting are being really open-minded and nice. Yet there are still people complaining that people are preaching here. They only people that deserve to be complained about in this comment section are the idiots that don't bother to read the comments and just follow whatever the first comment they read is. Ugh
