Hey Skyes, I just wanted to let you know that there is a way to breathe forever under water in just plain vanilla Minecraft. You can build a conduit and it will work just like a beacon, where as long as you are in range you will be able to breathe under water forever, just like how a beacon can give you haste forever. Hope this helps :)

I think the issue with that is in order to craft a conduit you need a heart of the sea, which you can only get in treasure chests. And all the treasure maps I’ve seen so far in this video have been broken (haven’t watched the whole vid yet so I don’t know if he gets a heart another way)

If you put blocks above your water Source blocks should prevent the water from freezing. Another problem with your farm that I foresee is that kelp can turn flowing water into water source blocks. I think that's why most automated Farms break the block before it can reach the top by using Observers and pistons

But 50 hours is still 150 days
@@starseahawk3516 it’s more that instead of all the editing that goes into keeping track of all 100 days, 50 hours can simply be chopped up and lightly edited. More time spent playing, but significantly less time in the editing department
@@cheetahsports5544 You could try it yourself to see what you can do in like 4-5 hours then you could see how much effort he put in a 2 days record, bet you couldn't just travel,explore and get lost when you dont know your base cordinates

I wanted to try this out myself, especially wanting to know what mod includes the spider crabs and such.
I've been searching so many different youtube vids to see if they have the modpack listed and I have yet to find one, I really wanna try out this challenge because it looks so fun and I'm getting so bored of regular worlds

Skyes, the reason the corner trapdoors don't work is because you are water logging them. Its a relatively new minecraft feature where books like slabs, trapdoors, stairs, and chests will just sit in a block of water, without getting rid of the water block. So your trapdoor is being placed in a water block and being waterlogged. Also, love your videos a whole lot! Thank you for making them!

The copper backtank combined with the diving helmet from the create mod will give you way more time under water. Especially if you enchant it with capacity 3.

So I will say, if you want to get into Create, using JEI/REI will make your life way way easier.. You will need typically need andesite, zinc or iron, and help for the basics. Create can be used to cook metals, glas,s and all that fun stuff using belts and lava to not use any material to cook it.
Edit: With create you can pretty easily set up a kelp farm, one of the cool parts of Create is that you can hold a button on it to ponder, and see how it functions, since it's all kinetic.
Edit 2: You can also use create to make an auto during system if you have storage drawers, one of my favorite mods.

Sea Pickles can be reproduced by using bone meal, but to do so the sea pickles have to be underwater and have to be on top of a living coral block, any coral block. Hope this helps.
Please make this into a series! I love this mod pack and I'm really interested to see you get more into the mods and some of the different features. I love the ocean and this world really is beautiful with the shaders and all the lights.

I would love to see you turn this into a series and see where it leads. Your builds give me the inspiration I need to leave my very square comfort zone, and building underwater is most definitely out of my comfort zone. Can't wait for part 2 ❤
54:02 oh and pro tip if you right click a banner with a map the banner will show up on the map. So if you named the banner it's name will also show up one the map.
And for wool - shepherds can sell & buy wool. They just need a loom, that is crafted with 2 wood and 2 string. You know the shepherd is a villager profession, right?

If you can manage a Wandering Trader I think they always sell a Sapling, so that should give you renewability.
How to make more sea pickles - put them on a coral block and use bonemeal!

First you can save up the trapdoor in the kelpfarm by swapping it to stone button.
Second soul sand dont work when there is kelp on top of it.

The lack of minecraft knowledge in these videos even though Skyes probably has hours upon hours of minecraft playtime infuriates me so much but at the same time its so cute for some reason 😅
Some examples: Skyes not knowing pickles only light up when theyre in water, not knowing 1.16 was the nether update and saying it was the ocean update, not knowing kelp was added in 1.13

the create mod is great, u could make a whole kelp farm, to go from plant, harvest, dry, block and store ready to use as fual on one simple build and there plenty of tutorials out there on how to make them
also to get saplins u need to get a wondering trader to spawn, make a platform out of stone or dirt and stand within 47 blocks of it for a few days till one spawns in

17:44 Since I can’t use Kappa on my raftblock for some reason, I had to resort to using a different shader pack. It needs a lot more light and I realized that in order to get more sea pickles to light up the floor, you mind it and then place one pickle, bone meal it, it turns into 4 and then repeat the process.
But you need to place the pickel on a coral block for this to work (at least in Java)
How come my kappa shaders water looks bad?

1:32:32 If you visit a drowned monument or shipwreck, you should put a cobblestone block on top to signify you’ve been there since cobblestone does not naturally generate. (With the exception of dungeons and generators)

Just a friendly advice...... Trying using campfires to cook the kelp...... I m pretty sure kelp can be cooked in campfires...... And if it is possible then try to automate it using hoppers and chests..... It will save your coal.

I love the vids!!!! I would love to see a full 1000day series on this world. Also you should add mods with sea vehicles and other things from subnautica as well
I got you Skyes. The create mod, i highly suggest getting alot of andesite and iron and you need iron nuggets and andesite to make andesite alloy and you can ether make shafts or right click it on a striped log which both are very usfull. Zinc get alot of it, zinc and copper makes brass and brass is used for advanced stuff now to make it you need a basin and a blaze burner to make a blaze burner you need to make iron plate and one nether rack and go up to a blaze or blaze spawner and right click it. a very good tip is to pounder the create blocks hold W on them and it will give you a how to use animation. Creates fun :).

Oh, and what about using coral as a structure on which you build/incorporate your base on? Think of a tree and the treehouse on it, and you could use the sea pickles as fairy lights or something like that. (^_^)

i really want to see a part 2, this looks like a fun little challenge.
also im pretty sure that the kelp that didnt flow all the way up is the kelp that isnt on a source block, since the same mechanic that makes the flow water on top of water is the one that makes water drop on top of water, so the top layer is flowing to the side, 2nd layer is flowing down, and others are source blocks.
and your farm will probably break since i remember people saying building on y level 35 or lower is a requirement, so kelp doesnt grow and turn those flowing waters into source blocks :D
