    This is epically long review of the Dyson 360 Eye! The reason for this..well....its basically as short as I could edit it as for someone thinking of getting one should have a pretty good idea by the end of it of all the pro's and con's!
    Summary Starts at: 1:16:54
    Please like and subscribe!
    Updates:
    5th August 2016:
    Emailed dyson regarding wear on rear roller. Will post if / when I get a reply.
    6th August 2016:
    The schedule was me being a silly billy, what you set is displayed below the words 'Every Day' - it threw me a little!
    7th August 2016:
    Dyson emailed back, on the 11th they offered to send an engineer around and exchange the whole unit due to the brush! I said can't we just exchange the brush, but then actually I have not been successfully getting it to do a full clean AND return to its charging dock. The second unit (yes I purchased another for home!) works really well and always successfully does a full clean....and the area is just as complex if not more complex. So will swap out a unit if the option is still open, and update here.

    seems like a product from hell. Horrible experience! You'd have been better off with a Roomba 980. Roomba would have been finished before you even got the eye connected to wifi!

      I have to say, I wanted this until I saw it working... spending a third of its energy sitting still with vacuum motor running full blast... seems fundamentally flawed to me

    • @bigman55434
      @bigman55434 7 лет назад +2

      or better off with the Neato Botvac Connected. Easy wifi/app setup, sucks dirt up like crazy, and is relatively quiet.

      zog noty, when a product is not up to standard, it's very important - the flaws must be highlighted in the reviews. That's how products are improved. Shutting the f up is not the way to go when it comes to reviewing and providing feedback on products. And I also own a Dyson vacuum, so your assumptions were wrong on both accounts, so who's the mongoloid here?

      I think its getting better...slowly. The 5g network not being possible has got a lot of users confused (like me!), buyers tend to be gadget lovers...and 2.4ghz certainly isn't modern!

      Real Life Gadget Reviews I hope that isn't a hardware limitation; if it is that is somewhat of a shortcoming.
      I think I'd have to have a massive tidy before I could start using it, but that's not such a bad thing !

    • @RealLifeGadgetReviews
      @RealLifeGadgetReviews  8 лет назад +1

      Yeah, oddly it makes you tidy a lot more as you want it to do a successful clean.

    I think you need to go on an iOS course ;-) If you drag top to bottom the iPod touch screen you will see all your previous notifications including the dyson one. OK so what we have learnt from this video is there is nothing wrong with the Dyson 360 but the operator should always read the user guide first !!!! Also why don't you get your colleagues to change the router password to something memorable !!

    • @RealLifeGadgetReviews
      @RealLifeGadgetReviews  8 лет назад +1

      IOS notifications, of course I know this, but REMEMBERING everything all of the time is quite a challenge for me ;)
      There were several app crashes and timeouts before connection / setup actually occurred, think they have fixed some of these in the latest update thankfully, so should be easier now. They are also working back through the user manual and releasing another apparently, as I discovered - specifically in regarding wifi, an important instruction is on the following page (so if going through step by step it misses crucial information). Its almost there, and its definitely improved as once it has been setup I have had ZERO connection issues to the devices (not on either of the 360eyes I own).
      Engineer did state though the bots do NOT like being taken from one wifi connection to another, you basically have to reset the entire thing to get it to work properly which is something they are looking into resolving. Having it to be able to have multi wifi functionality would be awesome.
      Thanks for watching!

    You know, judging by your needs, it seems like a high-end Neato Would have been better. They use laser mapping, so they have no problems operating in the dark. Neither the Dyson nor the Roomba 980 can do this. The Neatos also have mapping on par with, if not better than Roomba or Dyson. Granted the Dyson has larger bin capacity and more suction power, but since you want to use the bot to clean your warehouse every night, all you're really picking up is loose debris and dust, so there shouldn't be any real difference in performance.

    Thanks That Was a mouthful but very informative, and very fine- describing the connections problems, and the problems with the returning to the docking station, can be that Dyson can update the software - where it will return to the docking station and tell you that it needs cleaning the dustbin, that could be nice to get that feedback on the aps to. So Dyson has made a fine product and it even could get better in version 2. Nice to se someone taking things seriously Thanks :-)

    • @RealLifeGadgetReviews
      @RealLifeGadgetReviews  8 лет назад +2

      Scheduling works spot on. It was my misunderstanding with the screen showing the schedule (coupled with - for some odd reason - it not working initially). But since the day after (And now weeks ago), it has worked every time on both machines.

  • @mcbrite
    @mcbrite 8 лет назад +2

    Gotta be honest... My Neato Botvac D85 is a lot simpler, covers every centimeter with military precision (not the "hope and pray approach" of, say, Irobot) and doesn't need stupid wifi bollocks or an hour of setup... Also less high so get's under furniture way better. I think I could even schedule it, but why? Just press one button when I notice it could do some work and voila: Starts moving, it's laser constantly rotating and scanning the room and following a PERFECT pattern...
    Not a Dyson hater, either... I LOVE my "normal" Dyson Vacuum! It truly sucks! ^^

    • @herbys68
      @herbys68 8 лет назад

      I second that. I haven't tried the Dyson (though I love my other Dyson devices) but I tried Roombas and Neatos, and the Neatos beat the Roombas by a massive margin. They clean better, are easier to empty and maintain, always find their way back home and never had problems. Only issue I had actually is that the batteries on the old models used to only last a year or so, but haven't had that problem with the Botbacs. My only gripe with Neato is that they stopped doing software updates for the devices. But other than that, I am happy with them and I don't see a need for spending $1K on the Dyson.

    • @mcbrite
      @mcbrite 8 лет назад

      +herbys68 Agree 100%, especially on the "easier to maintain" part! Completely forgot to mention that! Takes me about a minute to empty it, remove hairs from roller and do a rough clean of the hepa-filter!
      Pity about the updates, BUT the software ot has seems to do ok with my layout...

  • @DomainRider
    @DomainRider 8 лет назад +1

    Good video! (if a bit long)
    The app's now been updated to show battery charge and to provide a low-power quiet mode - which is still fairly effective and extends battery life a lot - you might find it'll do the whole warehouse and get back to the charging station. Once the place has had a good initial clean, quiet mode should be enough to keep it clear..
    I didn't have the problems you had getting connected, but I was using Android and have a good wifi connection (and I followed the manual from the start!).
    I'm keeping mine too - it's nice to have the place cleaned every other day without having to do more than move a few bits & pieces out of the way.

    • @RealLifeGadgetReviews
      @RealLifeGadgetReviews  8 лет назад

      I went a step further and got 2 :) Ha ha. Yeah the new features are cool, extends battery life loads, also in the office the lower power mode is so much quieter meaning it doesn't annoy people so much! Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the long but in-depth review it was one of the many I watched before purchasing one for myself. Compared to the Neatos I've had its more thorough and doesn't climb up the legs of my wood office furniture to unstick itself. I have close to the same sort of large space to clean with a office area attached. To get around the dark cleaning issue I just programmed my "Lutron Caseta" lights to turn on 5 minutes before the vacuum start time, off in 60 min, on again in 1hr 45 min then off again in 50 min (etc...) and in the office area I have a Wemo light switch with a motion sensor with the sensor placed outside the room so the lights come on by the time the 360 gets to the room. Anyhow great review and much thanks!

  • @colincampbell3679
    @colincampbell3679 8 лет назад +1

    Well, good vacuum cleaner... But what a huge amount of wasted time fighting with the app set up! My advice is get your money back mate and hire a cleaner to vacuum the shop, they would do a better job and cost way less to hire even for a full years work? Any the rest of the money saved be better used buying a robot lawn mower which does work well when set up right ( and a less hard way ) than this dyson vacuum cleaner. Good honest video review sir :)

    That thing seems like a complete nightmare, both from a setup standpoint and routine liveability. And for the price? Terrible.
    If you’re in the market for something new, have a look at the Xiaomi Mi vacuum (generation 1). You could buy 3 of those for the price of the Dyson, with a 7 mFAR better functionality. Lots of reviews of it here on RUclips.

    I'm in Germany and first I spoke to the help line in the UK and they told me to email the German helpline.
    The german helpline repeated what it says in the manual, (make sure the Robot WIFI lite is on etc) and so I'm still struggling.

    My experience has been interesting. I bought mine. Could not connect to wifi at all on ios. Had to connect with Android..... Brush starting breaking apart after two months. Dyson as on 11/11 still required the whole robot to be shipped back instead of sending a new brush.
    New vac came and the motor is noticeable quieter on max and quiet mode. I wonder if they did some changes and that's why they want you to just ship it back.

    • @RealLifeGadgetReviews
      @RealLifeGadgetReviews  7 лет назад

      When I chatted to engineer he said they do that with all product regardless of the issue, if its under warranty. Proved true - when I wrote a question about one of the fan units, questioning it not turning left to right they scheduled a return (all I wanted was question answered). I think its to make sure customers are 100% sorted.
      Brush bar is really really bad, the wear rate is incredible.

    • @DavidWolf84
      @DavidWolf84 7 лет назад

      After a few days of use with the new robot its so strange. i had to do the firmware upgrade via USB. I noticed that this robot seems to drive where ever it feels like it, while my first one did the square course. Very strange. between the motor and this I feel like there is some sort of software change beyond the firmware.....

    • @RealLifeGadgetReviews
      @RealLifeGadgetReviews  7 лет назад

      A little odd, both mine majority of the time follow the square pattern. Although, sometimes they do seem a bit random. Is the lighting good where you are? (They are terrible if lighting is bad...for example a early morning schedule is pointless unless the lights are on / its sunny).
