The race sure is on in this market!
Sure is!
I wish i wast poor at the moment.(saving for some things) This is awesome. I love the hard sided tent section. Very cool compared to the competition. Its actually priced competitive with the other brands. Nice work guys
Thank you for the comment! Appreciate it!
Love the concept.....because camping ON TOP of a roof never appealed to me.....but this, allowing for head room/volume, and that option. I also wasn't ever going to go the Sprinter route....AND the big killer/decider all around was: I HAVE to have 4x4....and the biggest class for that is p/u trucks. But I didn't want a typical low profile canopy, didn't want the big slide in camper type, and wanted a daily driver- with the ability to go camping/overlanding. I also prefer to rough it.....not looking for a decorated home on wheels, and the FUNCTIONAL utility is a great feature. VERY impressed.
Sounds like the DWELL SHELL is the perfect fit for you! What truck are you looking at putting it on?
'No Perfect Plan' brought me here!
Awesome! So glad to hear that!
I have a Snap TREEHOUSE and I like many of the features that DWELL SHELL has. Good Job
Thank you so much man! Appreciate it!
These are definitely the way forward. Just sold my old skool RTT. It was a pain in the a** 😂 I’d look at one of these for sure. For this model I think that the locking mechanisms can be simplified or tidied up. They look like an after thought. things could get caught up in them. Other than that. Awesome!
Awesome, thank you for check it out! Let us know if you have any questions on ordering one. Thank you for your feedback.
Plus saves some weight on how big and bulky the locking mechanisms are.
Let’s go! Freaking love this thing! Great work guys! Awesome video
Thanks man! Appreciate it!
You guys are killing it!
Thank you! Appreciate it!
Not very Christian thing to say.
Best rooftop camper imo. That hardside is crucial. I dont like the other flappy fabric ones
Thank you! Appreciate it. The hard sides are a game changer.
I hate the lack of bug netting but the camper as a whole is pretty solid
Thank you! Bug netting solutions are available!
I would want the entire bed platform to push up into the “roof” so I could use the entire truck bed area for cooking or chilling on a rainy day, heck even to have a chair to sit in would be nice.
That would be a great feature! Thanks for the feedback!
How much
Ditto in the bed and a window option in the camper doors, like a slider-
Great design, I love everything I’m seeing here; pretty much exactly what I’ve been wanting. I’m heading to your website for more info. Hope you are a the upcoming Overland Expo East in Virginia, would love to put eyes/hands on product.
Thanks Devin! Really appreciate that, glad you found us. We won't be driving this product out to Virginia this year, but will have a booth there with our AS-1. If you are ever out west, feel free to stop by the shop or another Overland Expo. Thank you!
@@ANTISHANTY I’ll be in UT doing some snowboarding this winter. I’ll contact you guys to arrange a good time to stop by and check this out. About how far out do you envision order-to-delivery? If I wanted one by say June 2024, how far out do I need to be getting my order/down payment in?
Awesome! We would love the visit and love to give you a tour. Order-to-delivery all depends on how many orders are in the queue before yours. As of now, I would estimate to have your deposit in between Jan. 2024-Mar. 2024 for June 2024 delivery. Reach out and we will coordinate a visit!
Nice! Will you design one for full sized trucks? Will the size of the sleeping portion be larger?
We will design them for full sized trucks. All truck options are currently listed on our website desktop. The sleeping area will maintain the same size.
Odlično, svaka čast. Moram da kopiram tu kućicu 😊❤
Hvala ti! Cijenim to. Obavještavajte nas o tome.
Fantastic!! Couple questions: -Possible to have one made to fit on an F250 long bed? -Possible add for more windows on the lower hatches? -Possible to get stronger shocks for the roof so that panels, bikes, and kayaks aren't too much? -What about exterior side mounting for awnings, maxtrax, propane, etc? Thanks!!
Great questions! Reach out to us at info@antishanty.com about the F250 Long Bed and we can see what's possible. Window options are available. The current gas shocks are rated for the roof and panels/other gear. We have awning brackets available for awnings, and mounting possibilities for other gear are endless.
Love it!
Thanks Maximus! Appreciate it!
I like their RTD, the one you can put on top of an SUV, Jeep or anything. It has a lot of storage space. ( Not the S-Slim model). I can possibly put my stove, camp lights, sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, dry food, my laptop, a collapsible small table, everything in the RTD. Just close the tent and you are ready to go. Everything is in one place. Can they make a vent for a diesel heater hose ?
Thank you for the comment! Yes, the RTD-C would have room for all of that stuff! Upon request, we can do the DWELL SHELL with the RTD-C as the sleeping portion, for deeper storage capabilities. Side plate for diesel heater hose included.
I’d love one, IF you made them for the Jeep Gladiator pickup, sigh. That would be the perfect overloading setup.
We do make them for the Jeep Gladiator, head on over to our website for more info!
This is awesome…I am wondering how long it takes to pack the roof during a rainstorm? Snow or inclement weather? How did you lift and close the full roof including the back window area? Really cool design! i will check out your site.
Great question! It takes anywhere between 30 seconds to 1 minute. If you are in a hurry, likely less than 30 seconds. Once the latches are released on each side, the gas shocks help lift the roof higher for the closing process. Please check out the site and let us know if you have any questions! Thanks!
I have to stay. That's pretty amazing. It'd be nice to have a window on that back side too, as well as some screens.
Thank you! The windows come with a mountable screen and black-out shade!
Love it!
Do you have plans for “cargo” type RTD on this dwelling .? Or are you only producing the slim profile.? What is the dimension of unused space when top/sides are down. Enough space for a mattress to stay put 😊🤞
Great questions! Currently we are only planning on using the slim profile on the DWELL SHELL. We currently run an exped mattress with blankets on top when closed. There is still space for pillows as well.
Perfect - sounds good - thx the info !
So my only concern is the the way you open and close that RT if it happens to be raining good or snowing not only are you going to have to get wet but all your shit in your camper is to. Or am i missing something?
Great comment! It can be open and closed quickly to where the amount of precipitation that would enter would be insignificant.
Do you make a canopy only?
Yes, it is an option! haven't officially released it, but it is available upon order.
Do you offer mesh options for any of the windows in the tent to keep unwanted bugs out? Option for windows on either sides of the bed doors or rear door?
There are screens and black out shades for the windows. There are also window options for the truck shell.
It would be nice if the sleeping platform was longer so that a person could have the space to exit the sleeping platform without having to remove panels to do so.
That would be super cool! Trade-offs to that would be increased weight as well as too much cabover for smaller trucks
@AntiShanty I wonder how much weight would 18" of added space add? I personally would deal with the weight to be able to exit the sleeping platform in order to take care of nightly business. If there are multiple persons sleeping up top, it would suck to have to move panels and wake them up.
Thank you for your comment, that is understandable. Stay tuned!
@AntiShanty Have you all considered a non-wedge hardsided pop-up like the Topo Topper badlander but hardsided? That would be AMAZING!
That's awesome! just wondering how the back wall stores? Do you detach it and secure it to the roof panel first, then fold up the sides?
Great question! You nailed it, the back wall folds in first and secures to the roof panel, the the right wall folds, then the left wall.
cool but holy shit the price is insane. 15000 for the canopy and 10000 for the tent. ouch.
Starts at 15000 for the Canopy and Sleeping area combo, with the passthrough.
Key features include:
-All hard sided aluminum construction
-Insulated
-No wood to rot or mold
-No canvas to flap around
-Cargo capacity in the top section (keep your sleeping stuff or other gear)
-Designed and manufactured right here in the USA
@@ANTISHANTY So you're saying 15000 for what I see in the video? your website says different though?
Correct, 15000 for what you see in the DWELL SHELL video. You can buy the DWELL SHELL which is the truck shell and sleeping area with the integrated pass-through. Or, you can just buy the RTD (just the sleeping pop-up, starting at 9500) to put on top of an SUV
Will you be making cybertruck models?
Potentially! Whenever we can get our hands on one to measure, we have the capability to make it happen.
What's the thinking for the upper doors? Seems they just add weight.
Great question! The upper doors on the sleeping area have multiple benefits:
- More Entry/Exit options
- Incredible amounts of airflow and ventilation
- Allows for a wider angle point of view
Can you leave a thin mattress in the bed area and still close the top?
Yes you can! A memory foam mattress that will compress or a part foam part air mattress like ExPed is great option too.
Can the deep unit be installed on the canopy camper?
The RTD-C is available on the DWELL SHELL upon request.
Very interested. What price range are you looking at?
Great question! Starts at $14,900 depending on your truck.
How about a unit for the top of my 72 Chevy van?
We have our RTD, which is just the dwelling portion. That would be awesome on your van! Reach on out and we can discuss more details.
No insulation in the walls? Condensation could be a problem.
Great question! The roof, floor and walls of the sleeping area are all insulated. Thank you for the comment.
My bad, I missed that.
No worries at all!
what kind of hinge does this utilize?
Uses a sealed continuous geared hinge for the main hinge, then continuous piano/rolled hinges for the doors and walls.
do yall make these for second gen tacomas? short bed
Hey Alec! Yes we do! Jump on our website, go to the Truck Camper page and you can build out a DWELL SHELL for a 2nd Gen Tacoma 5' bed with options.
Great concept, but too small. Maybe there are patent issues, but this would work better if the sleeping area was longer, swung up and away like AluCab, and the lower area was fully usable when not sleeping. Also, they seem to be enamored with doors. Too many and unnecessary. Ventilation is what's needed - along with insect mesh. Every door means hinges and frame areas to seal from water intrusion. I'll wait for version 3.0 if they survive long enough.
Appreciate the comment, great things to consider. Adventure on.
Looks like an outdoors focused camper, so the layout makes sense. Too many campers focus on the living area and forget about storage and utility areas. The "garage", which is often an afterthought done with whatever space was left from the design.
It's generally fine for a conventional camper where you're gonna spend most time inside and in an area with essential services. But to go out hunting, fishing, working, or doing some sport in a remote area, you just want an accessible storage area for all your gear and tools, and a comfortable sleeping place.
This meets that criteria.
It's essentially an updated version of the classic truck/car + tent.
@@moteroargentino7944 Thank you for the comment! Really appreciate it, you nailed it right on the head! Feel free to reach out to us via email or phone if you have more questions on the DWELL SHELL.
What is the estimated weight for for a 5ft midsize truck for the base unit?
Avg. weight is 380 lbs. so slightly less than that.
cud u make review, put ur thing to Jimny 5 seater....i think this cud be better
Not sure what you are referring to, could you give some more context? Thank you!
No screens
Screen options are available.
Is this available for a Jeep Gladiator?
You bet it is! Jump on our website to build yours!
Wedge style..check
Hardsided..check
Minimalist..check
Bring your own power..check
I was about to scream "Get out of my head & take my money!" but, alas..not available for the 2nd Gen Nissan Frontier. It sucks being the redheaded stepchild of the offroad world.
Glad to hear that you love the product as much as we do! It is pretty sweet! Bummer that it isn't available for that truck model!
top notch but outta of my price range.
Thank you, appreciate it!
Bro starting @14k is crazy. ya thats a big nope for something that would be at max used probably 12 times a year or once a month if I'm lucky.
@@daviddunlap5602 there are some soft-sided ones that start out at about 14k, so might as well get a hard-sided one, right? Haha.
@ANTISHANTY i mean you're not wrong, shoot just saw a hard sideded roof top tent that is just a tent for 30k. So maybe not so bad. Have you made any improvements over the original design? Like heating/cooling, lift up sleep platform, or weight reductions with newer materials or better components like the locking mechanisms?
Your is by far one of the nicest ones I've seen so far that I have been looking.
We have made improvements and will always continue to innovate and improve. All DWELL SHELLs come standard with the side deck plate, allowing you to duct in any heating or cooling and reseal it when not in use.
New sleep platform is in the works.
Weight reductions may come in the future, but for being hard-sided, it is actually very similar to a lot of other set ups when it comes to weight. For example, check out @coleeades RUclips Channel. He had a bed rack and tent set up on his F150, then recently switched to this, and the DWELL SHELL system is actually a little lighter.
All latches are fully lockable.
Thank you! We appreciate you following along and commenting!
That one person that down liked this video works for Alu Cab.
😂
Feel like ot would just be easier to sleep in the bed of the truck instead of climbing up there
For some, yes it would be easier, especially with those with truck beds longer than 5'. We will also be offering just the truck shell as well if that is something that you would be interested in.
Way too expensive for such a simple metal box.
Thank you for the feedback, happy trails.
If you’re broke just say so
$15,400 base model price? ROFL, KEEP IT. Put this thing in the Texas heat and try getting a good night's sleep. Insects don't exist anymore? So are window screens sold separate as well? TWO THUMBS DOWN. ITs awful odd the only content on these units is from paid affiliate channels. Lightning rod is only $1500.00 more and sold separate. 🤣Sad.
Appreciate the comment!
That burnout at the end was extremely off-putting. If you're trying to promote conservation and sustainability of our wonderful natural resources, that ain't the way to do it.
That was done in a parking lot to create a light-hearted video. We take care in sensitive areas.
Lol, so sensitive 😂
@@DanielRojas-x9h Not sensitive, just pointing out the fact that, in order to keep areas open for public use, we need to be good stewards of public areas. In other words, don't be a dick.
You call that a burnout. TF 😅
Stop nagging the man!
