I have a zeta midi viola system. Here is a performance where it is in use: ruclips.net/video/dXZKK3HaOVU/видео.html The samples played there are all sampled violin sounds, so you just hear bowed stringed instrument sounds. With respect to the age of more than 30 years the zeta system works pretty well (better than SY-1000 violin midi tracking), however, it is still midi and has all the drawbacks comming along with it.
The Sonnuus G2m v3 is another monophonic solution. It has a jack input and 2 outputs, an audio and a midi output. The midi can go to a synth and blend with the audio output( through effects or not).
I have a question: Can I use my electric violin with FOCUSRITE SAFFIRE 6 USB DIGITAL RECORDING AUDIO INTERFACE recording via Mixcraft 8 Pro where I can use the MIDI options on both - the interface and the Mixcraft MIDI recording...?
You can't use the MIDI with a violin unless you have Cantini(or similar) violin with a SY-1000 or GR-55 (or similar). Violins do not generate midi. The SONUUS box will generate MIDI from audio (but not well, as I demonstrated) but that works with USB rather than the 5-pin DIN MIDI connector on your Focusrite. Basically, violins are not MIDI instruments. :)
The Cantini comes with Dogal Strings which are suprisingly decent - WAY better than the steel strings that come on cheap instruments. Though they are not as easy to get hold of as 'normal' violin strings.

Thank you for this.

I thing you are wrong miss, you have to use the roland gk synthetiser with that violin, then you will have all midi features
That was exactly my point
@@ChrissieCaulfield ah ok i did not understand everything then. Sorry. With the zeta it is the same case, you need the midi synthesis device
So which brand and model of strings match best with magnetic pickups?

A nice intro to Midi Violin using a Guitar to Midi Software: ruclips.net/video/DWs8zUqBwFk/видео.html I think it works quite ok.
It's quintaphonic
Someone with zeta?
