- No less than 15,000 people showed up at the port of Piraeus, Greece, for a spectacle with fireworks, the philarmonic orchestra of the Port of Piraeus, the majorettes of Olympiakos, and the proud sponsor of Superfast XII, the Greek singer Despina Vandi. The event was opened with a welcome speech by Alexander Panagopulos, co-founder and President of Superfast Ferries, and CEO and Vice-Chairman of Attica Group, its parent company.
Superfast XII is a fast Ro-Pax jumbo ferry owned by the Superfast Ferries company, a subsidiary of the Athens Exchange-listed Attica Group. Superfast XII was built in 2002 by FLENDER in Lübeck, Germany, at a cost of approx.104 million Euro, and is the last vessel of 12 Superfast Ferries. Superfast XII is a sister ship of Superfast XI. She was delivered in October 2, 2002.
In 2002, Attica Group, owned and operated 23 ferries and 2 ro-ros in the Adriatic, Baltic, North and Aegean Seas, transporting over 5 million passengers per year between the Greek islands, Italy-Greece, Finland-Germany, and Scotland-Belgium.
Superfast XII was employed on the direct route between Patras in Greece -Ancona in Italy, until March 2009.

Ο καλυτερος στολος οπου στα επομενα χρονια καταστραφηκε και τωρα εχει 3 πλοια........
με τον πόλεμο της Γιουγκοσλαβίας τότε, όλος ο κόσμος πέρναγε από Ιταλία, γιαυτό υπήρχε ανάγκη να υπάρχουν πολλά πλοία για Ιταλία.
όταν τελείωσε ο πόλεμος, και έγινε και ο καινούργιος δρόμος Ιόνια Οδός, έπαψε να έρχονται με τα καράβια στην Πάτρα ο κοσμος, πάνε από τον καινούργιο δρόμο. Ο κ Παναγοπουλος ήταν έξυπνος, έβλεπε μπροστά, όταν κατάλαβε ότι θα πέσει η δουλειά, τα πλοία τα πούλησε, ενώ η Μινωικές της αγόρασαν οι Ιταλοί 75% μέτοχοι, μόνο το σήμα κρατάνε.
