Thanks so much for “taking me back” there Sue & Nige 🙏 Its been over 10 years now & so good to see it again through your eyes 🥰❤️🇮🇹
Isn't it amazing Ali? We are so glad to have finally made it to Sicily.
That is a GREAT video of my birth city Palermo, thankyou for sharing it, it was very nostalgic to watch, as all my family still live in Palermo, and only my patents and uncle migrated to Australia.
It's great to hear you enjoyed the video, I'm glad it brought back some nice memories for you. How long since you’ve been back?
I went back 2018 to see thw family and do the Targa Florio classic car rally. And look forward to take my kids back to meet my family and show them the house l was born in.
Palermo, a name familiar as many of my Italian friends ancestors cane from here. The history is fascinating, the markets look amazing, the laser lights on the buildings look spectacular and l noticed that the streets have no rubbish and are well maintained even though they are centuries old. A very fascinating place, for sure! Thanks for the video and commentary, much appreciated.
Cheers Lee! It is a great city! Definitely less rubbish around than other places in Sicily!
Another cracking video! It was so interesting and informative. Great bit of dad dancing Nige😂 x
Isn't he a great dancer? hahaha
@nigelandsueadventures🤣🤣
Great insight into the history of Sicily and the local culture. Thanks Bill Mc
Excellent commentary Sue !!! We look forward to your videos each week guys ...we are loving your travels in the south of Italy and oddly enough, Naples and Palermo are our favourites too. Safe travels and look forward to you beaming into our Melbourne lounge room next Monday night
Thanks, so glad you enjoyed it! Naples and Palermo are so different, but both beautiful and full of character - we also love them! Hope you enjoy the next few Sicily videos too!
Great to see Palermo again after many, many years. A lot of my husband's family come from there and Trapani. The history is just fascinating. Thank you.
It is such a beautiful island. We really loved Sicily!
Another great video guys, well done. Palermo is unique that's for sure! 😀🧡
Thanks so much, we agree - Palermo is truly unique!
The weather you guys are experiencing is so good, every video is like it's summer.
Glad you enjoyed it Bill - we loved Palermo
16:14 your beautiful smiles says everything
awww thank you!
Fabulous city. Thanks for the unique smellivision feature that just exuded from your footage. That white bait and swordfish was delicious. Was hoping you would go for the pomegranite juice, rather than the orange, at the juice sellers stall though. The chick pea flour munchies also looked and smelled fabulous, along with all that fresh produce on the markets. What an amazing and beautiful city Palermo is. So ancients and utterly fascinating. Good on them for organising the NO Mafia movement amongst the store keepers too! As always, another fabulous episode of your travels. So lovely to have such detailed records of the highlights for you too! Cheers and happy travels for the week ahead.
Some of the smells weren’t that great to be honest! And the oranges here are just so delicious!
Mi amo Palermo!
I’m retired and living on the coast outside of Palermo. I take at least 2 long walks in the city every week and it seems there is always something amazing around every corner. Next time you visit the city, avoid the tourist areas and wander through the local neighborhoods. Stop and have a bite to eat or a drink in some of the small local establishments. Don’t be afraid, you will be welcomed!
Yes, we went to a few local places near where we were parked - the locals were lovely everywhere we went.
@ ❤️
Hi Nigel and Sue well I really loved that particular video. What a lace 😀 the scenery, the food oh the food . How do you both stay as trim as you are. Such beautiful buildings. 1/10 for me. Thank you for sharing , stay safe Coen and Jay 🤣
Haha, thanks Jay and Coen, we had to do a lot of hiking in Sicily to counteract the amazing food!
Another fabulous video. We really enjoyed it.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Palermo really is an awesome city.

Yeah that view is unmissable!
Another top video. Thank you for all the trouble you go to about these cities, history Sue. You are a wealth of information. Loved the street food tour. 🤩🤩
We really enjoyed filming that street food tour, there was so much to try! I cut down my “history lesson” by at least 50%. I love history !

I had a little chuckle when I heard you say a “shit tonne” of Aperol was poured into your drink 😂
I do believe it's a real term. It is in my life anyway!!

I can travel vicariously through you both😏
Same time next week!!! Thanks for joining us in the journey
I understand that there is a question mark in the thumbnail and that the past cannot be erased.
However, I would like to see, one day, the words Palermo and Sicily no longer associated with the word mafia, especially if used as clickbaits.
I know, stupid dream.
Well, the whole point of the video was to show that Palermo and Sicily should NOT be defined by that history - we loved the city!
Are you guys gonna visit Sardinia too? Greetings from an Italian living in Darwin NT. Thanks for the awesome content !
Sardinia is definitely on the list! We have heard they don’t love campervans though
@@nigelandsueadventures Buona fortuna !
The one and only time I was in Sicily was in July 1992, the day of one of the bombings in Palermo. To be honest, I wasn’t too keen on southern Italy. It’s probably changed quite a bit since then.
that would have been very scary!!
Bellissimo!!
Grazie!!🙏
Just loving your Italy trip 💯 this Palermo video is sensational. Thanks Nigel & Sue 👏👏
Thanks for watching! We have really enjoyed exploring Italy. Still so much more to see!
@@nigelandsueadventuresgreat to hear you have so much more to explore. I wish your Italy trip would be never ending 😁
@@gerardferlazzo We wish that too!! However, the EU powers that be keep telling us we have to leave! (Schengen 90 day stay limits). We still have a LOT of places on our list, so we will be back! Italy Road Trip part 2 will come!
The Yakuza of Japan were formed nearly 300 years before the Sicilian, so Sicilians didn't "invent" the mafia.
Italy's crime rate is one of the lowest in Europe, lower in some categories than all Northern Europeans, confined mostly to petty crime and it's homicide rate is tied for 3rd lowest in Europe with Norway, almost comparable to Japan's. Those American mafia movies and programs and others have smeared Italy's reputation with overblown stereotypes.
Hollywood always going for sensationalism!
If during the Covid there weren't the people of South of Italy, that every evening at 6 began to sing on the balconies and keep the spirit high, all that tremendous time would have been a total interior death.
The south of Italy is chaotic, disorganised, messy, but passionate. It warms people up - although sometimes, as a person from Milan and Luzern in Switzerland it is indeed too much to bear! 😅😅
It is soo nice to discover Italy through your eyes! Thank you! ❤
I remember that singing! We even saw it in our news in Australia. It brought tears to my eyes.
And I know what you mean about the chaos! Sometimes we need a respite from it too!!
@nigelandsueadventures 😂😂 Exactly!
Interesting that Our Australian/NZ language maybe perceived as swearing/cussing, like "shit loads of"...
Haha true! We like to educate the world… and I especially like “shit ton”
Once again, I don’t know why you have to have the camera on your face all the time while you’re showing all these beautiful stunning places. I do love your videos but I think the scenery is amazing. why don’t you give ‘ French vibe ‘ 😊 Martijn Doolaard is another one that does amazing videos
Well I would argue that our face isn’t on camera all the time! We like to have that personal connection with our viewers. I’m not a fan of channels that just do voiceover. I guess it’s a matter of personal preference.
