I like this scene because it really puts lots of things into perspective. A man doesn't go to war because he hates the enemy in front of him. He fights to protect the ones he loves on his side.

sharksandsheep you’re thinking of maybe two, three relatively small scale wars in the past half a century. having a larger world view might help put some things into perspective
Unfortunately a lot of people go for either of those reasons (and sometimes both)- the moral character of a person dragged into these things is often complicated and messy. But I appreciate your point- it’s understandable to want to protect our loved ones, and many people do have the right intentions.
Just imagine the rehearsals to this scene. Without costumes and everything. I wonder how long it took Joey to keep a straight face :D

Im still shocked that critics didnt like this musical. The scenes are genius, the songs are brilliantly written and preformed, and the plot is amazing as are the props! Brilliant!!! And so much time was put into this.
I consider it a slow burn musical, it's alright the first time you watch it, and then you start listening to a couple songs, and then it slowly consumes your life
also the acting is incredible. that one scene with joey and denise never fails to choke me up.

I think it's because, even though there's a lot of good stuff in the show, there's also a lot of mediocre stuff- it watches a lot like the first script of something that would've been edited later on. I love it, but there's a lot of stuff that could be better written or cut without a huge overall loss to the story.
I don't know if I prefer Joe, Joe, or Joey.
I love all of them but im usually talking about joey but thinkin about joe walker and mostky watching joe moses one man shows

I just want to acknowledge Joe's monologue, it was really really good! I don't know if he wrote that himself or not, but it's very well written and truly well played. I would try to reenact it in my acting class, but I'm a girl with no balls, so the joke wouldn't work

I thought this was a throw away joke showing how crazy The Commander was, but he's literally talking to someone who he believes was missing for 18 years on an alien planet, so he probably actually meant that Bug is the oldest, age wise, among his friends.

I know I'm very late to this, but you can really tell how invested the audience is in the story when they gasp in shock and then remember that it is funny

Honestly I relate to Up a lot. I used to have really heavy walls, with a lot of defenses: watchtowers and turrets and barbed wire and all that metaphorical stuff that really only means I didn't cry for a decade and damaged my emotional health. And now that I'm on the other side of it, I can't even take a small insult. It makes me feel weak. But finding humor in the situation, being able to crack jokes and see yourself in other places, even if it's a parody (though it's a darn good one. Cause StarKid is just fantastic) really helps.
Thank you, Joe. And Nick. And everyone who helped on this show. There's a lot of meaning in these shows, sometimes in the strangest places. But I appreciate it
