How This Advertising Analyst Spends Her $80K Salary | Honest Accounts | Glamour
I'd love for there to be a video of a woman and a man with the exact same salary, living area etc to see how they spend their salaray side by side
+1 to this, big time!
This
Oh that'd be so cool!
Exactly.
Men will spend all on booze woman and casino lol
I don’t even blame her for eating out often because she has the means to and living in nyc myself, there are SO many good restaurants and it’s one of the best experiences to go with friends and family!
Why would anyone blame her? It's her money..
Mathilda Lando you clearly don’t read the comments on these videos then 😂
@@rozerahim8133 lol yours is top comment so I hadn't seen the other ones but I see what you mean now 😂
Mathilda Lando yeah it’s so weird! Happens in all the videos I see posted about this topic
she actually doesn't have the means if she did she wouldn't have student loan debt she wouldn't have took out a loan for dental her 401K would be much beefier and her savings account would have a Year's worth of income in it.
25 Y/old & shes a SENIOR analyst with an almost 6 digit salary! Wow. At 25 I just got into grad school still struggling to find a job lol..
lol dont compare her age with yours, compare the time in the workplace....you'll get there in a few years!
You make me feel good about myself lol
Money to spend - $1,950. Money spent - $2,770. This is an example of what not to do, people.
Way too much spent eating out and on random things. People need to learn to save and only buy things when the really need it and for a good value/price.
@@nayemalaboni8318 How is having negative money every month okay
Laboni no, she does not make $7k a month. And what if tomorrow she’s out a job? You should never spend more than you make
Laboni she makes 80k... she doesn’t make 100k so she doesn’t make 7k a month. Plus taxes. Please don’t be her, you will never retire
Her person savings should be way higher than 500 a month. Smh
I really want to see what a millionaire does with there money
*their
Millonaires dont spend as much as you think unless it is to save or make more money
Ishan Ali same
I’m a millionaire. My housing cost is more because I live in paradise, but I drive a 15 year old SUV, I rarely eat out, and I invest a huge percentage of my income. My only indulgence is old scotch whisky but I purchased most of it many years ago.
millionaires probably spend their money on investments
As a young person living in NY I would say my credit card expenses are comparable to hers and a lot of people I know of varying income levels spend a similar amount because of the environment that is NYC. Lots of restaurants, convenience of bodegas and eating out, not owning a car so often ubering. It's better to save more but this lifestyle isn't uncommon.
So true. Im in NYC as well. Do you budget?I share my budget on my channel. Stop by and let me Know what you think.ruclips.net/channel/UC4nAiCVjZwc8MCZHNrC_KsQ
To Spend: $1950
Total Charge: $2770
Networth at the end of the month: N - $820 (where N is her networth last month)
How tf is she spending $500 per month on utilities??!
iona maybe she splits it with her roommates
Yeah thats what im wondering
Im thinking she is adding cellphone and cable in there along with the electricity, gas and maybe water bills.
MissMBA but how is she paying the whole thing herself
@@SummerxKim well she does make 80k a year, an average American only needs 80k to 90k to live a decent life.
Can you do a Money Tour for a college student

No money to tour 😂
As a college student that has two jobs, I would love to share how I spend my money
I don't think of traditional college students when I think of Glamour magazine. But maybe I think that because I'm an adult and I like hearing about full time working people.
$800 rent
$2000 drinks
income - daddys money
If I made $80K per year, I would not be living with roommates
In New York, you need to make at least 150-200k to confidently rent your own place. Unless you would like to waste 80% of your income on rent....
she smart though. More money to travel!
Not if you were living in ny or any other equivalent city
lol... nope. you could do it but you would waste all your disposable income
Exactly....her logic seems off here. Why can you only afford $825 when you’re making $80 K?
Honestly the BEST one, if I had her kind of budget... my foodie dreams would come true. She's right about NYC having the best food

Why *doesnt clap* are *doesnt clap* you *doesnt clap* clapping *doesnt clap* ???
25 yo with 80 k I'm so inadequate
I don´t see it that way. She spends more than she makes. The video stated that she had about 1900 dollars left over but the creditcards added up to over 2800 dollars.
If you make less, but live within your means, it is always the better deal thatn making a lot but spending more than that.
Lol right? The amount she has left to spend at the end of the month is the amount I earn in a month.... I'm 26
Shuhel Chowdhury im tellin u
all these young people in these videos are really well paid, I’m suspicious
um t right. I am about to send my resume out 😂
Anyone else notice how she pays about 38 percent in taxes which is about $30,000!! I’m in Georgia i Pay just under 23 percent for the same salary! It’s crazy how much ny taxes are!
Gang Gang I was thinking the Same thing! I live in Washington though so I only have federal taxes taken out. Our sales tax is around ten percent though, but food and rent isn’t taxed.
Taxes in NY are higher than where you live but the difference between her gross and net pay are not only NY taxes. Federal, social security, Medicare and unemployment taxes along with what she lets her employer withdraw for her 401k, health insurance and perhaphs even commuter benefit should also be considered.
Her 401k and Roth IRA also affect her net income
as a Washington resident yes you pay taxes on rent you just don't know it. your landlord is factoring in property taxes into your rent. also people think king county has high property taxes, not compared to some places in the country.
Here in Germany we pay 45%... I‘m jealous now
Keep these up! I was bored and was gonna watch an old budgeting video but I saw a new video was posted!
$825 rent in New York City??? Even with roommates that seems very low. Still she is young and hasn’t realized yet she is spending like she is making $250k a year.
i agree the overspends
Technically she pays $1325 because she pays for utilities
I honestly can't believe her utilities are $500. I also live in New York and live in a two bedroom with my boyfriend and my utilities is never over $130 and my rent is more than hers but I still pay less per month in total than her. $500 is excessive
@@alixmccanlies4469 I'm guessing utilities include internet, her phone, water, gas, electricity etc.
Nora no i understand and my utilities don’t come anywhere close to $500, for gas, electricity, heat and hot water, and phone bill
I love this series, it’s so nice to dive into the life of another person
Girly I do all my dental procedures in Colombia.. you end up paying about 25% of what you would pay here.
Is she paying interest on a dental loan when she has money to clear it in her savings?
Only 21k savings with that kind of salary? I don't know how expensive is living in NY, but she is not saving at all and she is a senior analyst!!
She took out a dental loan but makes 80k lol
Iris Kea I know right..
It's called building credit
@@P0k3D0nd3M4cG It's called being dumb. She can build credit by just applying for a credit card and using it to pay off everything she pays for. Then pay it off at E.O.M
@@vicsosa5703 why tho? I just replied to ur other comment
😂🤣😂
Has an emergency fund but doesn’t use it for the dental emergency...
I love these so much please do more!!!
I’m not frm the States and am just appalled at how high her income tax is. Almost 40%. With such high tax at her income level and her dental cost is still not covered by government (i tot reason why countries imposes high tax was to give more important welfare benefits like medical) and have to take loan for it..... life is not easy in US....
Life is incredibly easy in the U.S
She can move out and get her own apartment, increase what she’s spending in rent and also increase what she’s putting into her savings monthly. No, she wouldn’t have $1900 to spend after, but I only need about $400 spending money a month to live. Maybe she outta live on that for a bit.
She wants to be rich in retirement, but she's spending a ton of money on BS like eating out? This lady needs a reality check.
If she had to get a 2000 loan for root canals she probably opted out of dental insurance. That type of fee is usually when u are paying out of pocket.
Graham brought me here
$825 on rent in NYC???
Shake hir So do I and mine’s way more 😩 (and I’m in LA)
Shake hir No rent is generally cheaper in LA than NYC
Shake hir No. SF is more expensive than LA and NYC though.
I could not know what to do with that kind of money . WOW that a lot of money . How much is that a month ? Are you broken by the week of the week ? HOW often do you get pay week or every two week ? God bless you
$500 on utilities?! That means your month bill for utilities is $1,500 per month?!!!!
Her rent seems low for NYC so she probably pays all the utilities and less rent. 1500 for utilities is insane
exactly sounds like someone not paying unless they got massive water leak.
She eats out wayyy too much
ashley graham that’s what you do in nyc
@Jessica Hello There is way more fun things to do than eat out that is way cheaper
I feel bad for all the New Yorkers who make under 100,000k. God bless you keep working hard
That dental appointment would have been free in Holland. I can't believe people in the US have to take massive loans to get decent health care.. It's ridiculous
in germany its even better. I nearly moved to NL (thank god - no). on top of your health care you have to pay seperate for your teeth. e.g. 100 +20 € per month and still the dentist can charge you more money if the surgery is more complicated. total rip off compared to germany!!
But your taxes are crazy high
25 yo and makes $140k more than me 😂
She's a senior analyst, and only makes $80K? That too in NYC? She's being shortchanged.
Thank you for including taxes
Can you guys do someone with kids? I want to see the difference
Ppl who earn 20k a year, we want to see that too.
imagine making 80,000 a year and having to live with 2 ROOMATES like you're 19 or something....NYC is not worth it so overrated
wait... $4,130 after taxes per month? So thats around $49,000 a year after taxes?!
Yeah. More money means a whole new tax bracket
Ridiculous
@@Maestroxxx1 I don't think that's how it works. It's only the money you make IN the tax bracket that is taxed at that rate. NYC has its own income tax which is ridiculous.
I like her jeans!
Only $400 a month in student loans with an $80k salary? Why doesn't she just pay it all off. I'm currently paying $1k a month on two out of eleven student loans.
americans needing to pay for health care... europe is shaking
$500 for utilities? someone not paying no way its $1500 a month for 3 people.
How are her utilities this high?
Would be interested to see how a college student spends.
Also I really hope you’re not paying interest on that dental loan because you have 5k in savings but took out a loan for 2k?
How is someone with 80k salary still taking 2k loans
Who still has a Birchbox these days? LOL
If she has 1,900 in disposable income she should pay more towards her student loan or dental loans.
As a guy a spend so much less, that being said I’m a loser who never goes out sooo yeah.
Sent about a men's version?
Instead of keeping so much to spend, she could use some to pay off her loans.
80000 a year and still have to have roommates. feels bad man
didn't she say she has a boyfriend living with her.
She needs to put much more into savings. I put more than 500 in and I make less. You need to save for the future. I know it can be tempting because travel, new phones, items are a want for most, but if you want a retirement, you need to save, save, save. Uber, taxis, Amazon, new clothes so often, eating out. With her savings I would think she is making half of what she has. She spends like she makes more while not saving it.
Where does she live in NYC for $825??
VIVA COLOMBIA!
How the heck is her rent so low?
Ayyyeeeee Colombia🇨🇴
Jesus Christ this one was incredibly tedious.
I come here for the comments only listening to people's annoying opinions
Women hobbies = drinking,eating,shopping
Why are your utilities 500 with two other roommates? 😩
she should move her roth IRA to the 401k
do these people not own cars? use public transportation? budget for groceries? whats the point of these videos?
Whats with these adults having roommates? Ive never had a roommate and I moved out at 18
🥑
It's New York City
Nicole H so? I lived in LA for several years and now in SF.
She makes a good amount but yet has no money... sigh
Move out the city..fast.
Do someone who lives in Salt Lake! Or in a less populated state
My mum made 10 times less last year. feelsgoodman
bruhhh she rich. shows how poor i am
she's not saving enough. I have more expenses and make less than her and I still save more.
You can really live the luxurious life with that salary in jordan 🇯🇴.
I love watching these videos but I don’t really understand their saving accounts
she needs to read Rich Dad Poor Dad, or she needs to buy physical gold bars as a way to diversify her portfolio. Millenials are not smart, travel, drinks, eating out with boyfriend, all this keeping up with the Jone's on an 80K salary is tiring huh.
Ugh okay but what the frick is a Senior Analyst?
So depending on her role - and since it's advertising generally a senior analyst looks at key marketing areas and where things can potentially be improved or what the data means. Their role is usually about identifying key trends with customer data, understanding key drivers of campaigns and so on. Its a lot of reporting on the business.
Lol let me show you how I survive on 4k a year /// all these peeps are sooo bad with money omg
Like even though my location is not the best comparison to New York etc. I think this isn't about rent - it's a deeper difference of how money is used. I feel so confused about how these people spend so much.
@@MyCygnusX1 There is no way you could survive on 4k per year. This would put you well below the poverty line.
@@ArgUsaIsr what do you think is the lowest someone could live on then?
@@MyCygnusX1 Entirely depends on your location. There's a huge difference between making 50k in Manhattan versus making 50k in the middle-of-nowhere Arkansas. However, the poverty line exists for a reason. There is no way, no where you could survive on 4k/year.
@@ArgUsaIsr yeah it really depends where you live, but a lot of this spending seems beyond those differences. I suppose you live within your means and 4k does it for me... is it hard?.. well yes. I'm surprised that you are surprised tbh?
Why is it always women? I would appreciate showing both genders and how each spends their money differently
TF IS UP WITH ALL OF THESE NON-STEM MAJORS. Why did i WASTE my time getting an engineering degree if I'm not making this type of money
“Senior” Analyst - 25 years old. So you got like 3 yrs experience max right
ummmm why is she saving money when she should be focusing on paying off debts first.. that $500 that goes to savings should be going to loans first. stupid. 🤦♀️
Is that Lili Reinhart?
She doesnt sound Colombian at all. It looks like a white girl did her voice.
Not everyone has Spanish accents..?
Floss and ya won’t need to spend $2000 on root canals ;)
Waiting for the man version....
should probably be requesting that with GQ or esquire as they are men's magazines

Isn't it hard to survive off of just 80k a year. That's less than my dad's 1 month earning.
ele das ikr 80k is basically homeless
Noo...not at all
@@taylor3022 but... how? It's confusing
@@Darkbloom011 that's what I thought too.
you came here to brag about your daddys money? i mean this comment would be douchy enough if you bragged about your own money but your dad's salary? come on!!
I think it would be more interesting to hear how people spend their money in any place that isn't a major city. I feel like city people spend way more money than other people.
I would love to see it in other areas and with people who don’t have “white collar” jobs.
I live in a major city and outside of my exorbitant housing costs and utilities, I only spend $600 on food and everything else.
Alexi Buzzfeed and refinery29 do stories on people in other areas.
yes but not all of us are like that. This girl spends waaayyyy too much money for her salary lol
I like how the first part of each of the videos is organized "Rent, utilities, savings, etc" but then the bulk of the video is just listing random expenses that they have. I think it would be better if they started with all the major buckets: rent, savings, groceries, drinks, restaurants, recurring bills, entertainment, travel, etc and then dug into it that way.
Daniel Stefan 100% agree. At least tally these miscellaneous expenses into some type of organization. I don’t get the point
Totally agree. Like ok, you spent $9 on an Uber. But how much are you spending on Uber/taxis/subway for the month? I know what I spend on my car, gas, etc; and it would be more interesting to be able to compare. Listing every transaction gets boring.
This should be top comment, hope the producers see it!
Only in NYC does a person making a whopping 80K have to live with two roommates in an apartment with cockroaches.
because in nyc you make relatively A LOT MORE because their revenue is enormously high. you'd get a cheaper appartment but also a much lower income in other cities
😂😂😂
Her rent is so cheap
sf too... 80k will barely get you by and state tax is higher too on your wages.
80k is not a big salary though
I’m quite chocked that she only saves 500$ a month. She could save so much more money and still live a luxurious life.
for real; I make
I save 1,200 every month and I make a LOT less than her. I think this is a perfect example on how NOT to take care of your money, I have also been that shopaholic person but I would never at that point in my life make a video on how I spent my money since I felt bad about my habits. I think Glamour should lift more balanced examples so that young men and women won't get inspired in the wrong way... She also needs to save money so if she ever loses her job she has a cushion.
