    The type of people who call up ofcom to complain about a tv show are the same people who go to a restaurant and complain about the food after they’ve ate every single bite

    • @joeogle7729
      @joeogle7729 3 года назад +15

      No i think most Ofcom complaints are from the competition. And they have people combing over ever fine detail to find something to dob them in for. Ofcom have a bulletin of all the screw ups from the last month and there is a hilarious part where it describes in clinical language which part of the body was exposed for too long. another great story is a audio technician at Jazz FM who was watching some "adult content" and he decided to plug his computer into the mixing desk. which meant it was being broadcast...

    • @TheOmegaRiddler
      @TheOmegaRiddler 11 месяцев назад +3

      The problem with that is that because she was the one who faced consequences, it makes any civil action impossible because no one believes her. To sue someone, you need actual damages like harm of reputation which results in loss of work, and she didn't succeed in that goal. And what she did was unfortunately not a crime, it only would have become a crime if she falsely reported him to the police.

    Didn’t really portray the Kim Woodburn and Coleen Nolan segment the way it happend. Coleen and her sister gas lighted Kim, they talked over her, slated her under their breath. And simply used her to get Coleen in the papers as she announced her tour in the days after. A tour she had to cancel because no one bought tickets. Blamed it on her stress from what Kim did to her. If they were to work in the private sector they would have been fired, or at the very least have a stagnating and lower wage.
      The trouble is, it was very difficult to get sacked from those jobs, so they could do as little as possible and still be set for life.

      Coleen may have been a bully, but so was Kim; they wound up antagonising the hell out of each other, with everyone experiencing the backlash from that, especially from Kim's outbursts, as she was constantly on a hair trigger; that is called hypervilgilence.
      I had that (still do, to a certain extent ...), and what it does is to create a subconscious paranoia that, where something were to happen, no matter how innocuous, the brain makes such rapid associations, that it could, and did, lead to one of the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, responses, usually in that order. What ever Coleen said, was just enough to trigger Kim's 'fight' response, and vice-versa.
      That's reactivate behaviours, that, with the help of a decent therapist, I have learnt to dial back, but it was damn hard work to rewire something that took decades of life to be created in the first place ... and which is very much still ongoing ...
