Something about the game's humor... lol At the beginning of the game, they give you a choice of joining the Astral Express or staying on the station. Yeah, you can choose to stay on the station. It'll give you a whole scene where you see the Astral Express crew off, watch the train depart from the station, and never join the crew ever again as you hear their exploits throughout the Galaxy. Then the game credits roll and the game ends. I love the fact that this isn't just some traditional RPG, but has elements of old point-and-click Sierra game level humor to it. lol And yes, even checking trash cans will net you some unique items... XD

It may just be a me thing but it feels like the writers were given much more freedom for this game than with genshin, so it feels like a way more passionate project and I love it sm
I don't think so, all their games are a passionate project but rather than more freedom I think its more of an artistic choice/direction. It would be out of place if u find Genshin to have a modern level of comedy with its medieval fantasy style. Maybe if u experience Genshin and Star Rail both as a new player you'd notice both games have different direction, a lot of people have a veteran issue or biased towards new stuff.
i don't think its freedom its just that genshin is more medieval while honkai is modern futuristic setting, so the humor feels very modern. This type of humor wouldn't fit genshin as much tbh, tho i love it

Because they don't have such a versatile combat experience or wide ranges of puzzles and challenges this gameplay interaction is what u get to feel engaged with the game. If u think it's more fun and haha etc it's more of a preference than it being objectively better than Genshin. Remember Traveler also have a lot of personality too it's in their character voices menu.
I feel like people should know that the flavor text in this game seems to be inspired by the game Disco Elysium (Necrit should absolutely play it,even if it's offscreen because it has beautiful writing.) as someone who has many hours in Disco elysium I could tell from the moment they showed simulated realm aka the rouglike mode. The way the text box was positioned even matches with Disco elysium.
Disco Elysium is way too on the nose with it though. It feels like one of those kid cartoons that constantly bombard you with fart jokes, I couldn't get past the opening sequence. The one game where they did this style of writing just right is the Stanley Parable.

This whole segment felt it was straight from disco elysium and I read the entire dialogue in my head in disco elysium’s narrator’s voice. I wish whoever wrote this and the trash cans could write the main story, which I think takes itself way too seriously.
Really? I never felt that way, the main story is pretty comedic to me already, the depth that it has makes me feel more attached to the world and it's characters which in turn make the comedy so much funnier, this game gives me such a variety of warm emotions, so i think they balance it out really well, it'd kill the atmosphere and worldbuilding if they went overboard and just made it a saturday morning comedy

One of the big complaints about HSR was the 2 abilities system, which is not the same as the traditional 4 abilities system. It raised the question about HSR being a meta gacha to play RPG. If you beat Gunn in his training mission, Gunn would start praising you and... MC reply was: "I only have 2 abilities." or "After that(the fight with Gunn in story), i gacha'ed loads more.".
I can certainly see the problem with only 2 abilitys. Future characters will need sick and unique designs to carry sales. And in combat the only choice you are really having is generate a skill point or spending one. Not that interesting in the long run. At least one more active ability would make the core gameplay significantly better My greatest worry however is that they use the Genshin system instead of the Honkai system. By that I mean releasing tons of characters that speak maybe one line in the main story. And most characters will just be forgotten after you are done with their story ark to never be never seen again. It would be sick to instead get evolutions of characters like in Honkai. Just imagining a March with increased mastery of her special phased ice could be so cool. Or a 5-Star version of Herta where she uses multiple of her puppet bodys to do weird shit like form a little Puppet Mech. Instead such cool ideas will be given to completely new characters which I will not get attached to.
I love the idea of the trailblazer hiding in a closet, scaring room service, bolting Out of the hotel, fishing on a well, and getting solid water, meanwhile the rest of the cast look at you in the distance wondering what the fuck is wrong with you
There are soooo many references and easter eggs in this game. I love it so much and how I can introduce myself as heisenberg in that one interaction, amongst many other.
I like that one of the trailers show March opening a trash can and it becomes one of the hilarious running gags in this game. I was expecting finding Sampo hiding there like in the trailer lmao
I didn't realise it at the time. But this is a Stanley's Parable reference. There is a whole sequence there that plays out when you stand in a broom closet. But unlike here the narrator there really hammers the Point about How the closet is normal and mundane.
Maybe the fountain functions as this, you threw in coin you count how many coin are in it, and the higher the amount of coin in it the better the item you´ll get, probably. XD

I was laughing when I was playing this part. But these dialogues, I kind of guessed that this is caused by the Stellaron in the MC's body. Since the Cocolia is also speaking to the Stallaron in their world. This is just a guessed tho. I haven't finish the story yet.

I didn't realise it at the time. But this is a Stanley's Parable reference. There is a whole sequence there that plays out when you stand in a broom closet. But unlike here the narrator there really hammers the Point about How the closet is normal and mundane.
It seems the devs loved the interaction dialogues in Trails in the Sky and decided to put it almost everywhere in Star Rail lmao

I was laughing when I was playing this part. But these dialogues, I kind of guessed that this is caused by the Stellaron in the MC's body. Since the Cocolia is also speaking to the Stallaron in their world. This is just a guessed tho. I haven't finish the story yet.
It definetly feels like they took a page from Undertale and I love it.
