Dormant railroad yard site back in use - Grafton & Upton Railroad - Milford, MA - 3/1/2023

- A few decades ago the Milford, MA railyard was last used regularly. Since then tracks have been removed creating an empty lot with some overgrowth although the original freight crane survived. CSX used the yard site's remaining two tracks as a run around until 2018 when the local customer closed. From 2018 until 2021 the line sat dormant except for a few inspection trains and two rare detours. In February 2021 the Grafton & Upton Railroad took over the line from Milford to Franklin but ended up only using the yard site for railcar storage. Now in 2023 the yard site has been cleared and is now in use. I don't know the exact plan here but three railcars of steel were delivered to the site. Other steel is also stored on property for an unknown reason. I suppose these materials could be coming in and being transloaded but I suspect there could be more development here in the future.

Tha.nks for Sharing Great example of Transloads facilities 😮😢😢🎉😂😂❤❤ many God prayers for more
Those are some highly specialized steel fabrications. Will be interesting to learn the destination.
I hope that's not only for one big job down there, Industry is great for a railroad.
Another interesting update about this situation. The steel shipments seen in this video are from Mexico.
Very Interesting, time will tell.
The other day I saw steel beams on truck going on 495 south
Those steel beams are for a bridge in Boston
Any information on that crane we see? Great video, thanks for posting it.
That is the old freight crane from when the rail yard had more tracks that came closer to it.
May be born again
I wonder what all the neighbors think of all this. ?
More trains less trucks 👍
Can you do a talkin video talking about the Grafton & Upton
I have previously thought about doing this type of video since this is a fascinating operation. It’s certainly possible in the future as I collect more footage of their operations.
Any word of what they are making...perhaps a stadium?
Looks like bridge parts....
The G&U putting up another transload building???
It doesn’t appear that a structure will be installed here. This apparently is just transloading of steel from rail to truck.
interistink development.
