  • In this tutorial we make a nice looking flogger. The making process is not terribly complex, but it does require time.

Thank you for sharing this video! May I ask what is the name of the trowel looking device you use for splitting knots and feeding line thru its channel?

This reminds me of the CAT5 o' nine tails, made of CAT5 ethernet cable.

Running into an issue here: I went with 24" falls that I dressed with single-strand diamond knots at the tips, and they tangle like crazy from just a couple swings, or even lightly jiggling it in my hand. Before I painstakingly untie all of the knots or trim all the ends, do you have any idea what might be causing this problem? The way I see it, it could be the length, the weight, or the size of the knots.

Excellent tutorial. Ty! May be possible to attach collars at the very beginning and then braid over them? Would that be worse quality?

      Hi!
You could do the collars before, but it creates an uneven surface to plait over.
Doing it this way you get one more thing holding the start and end of the plait in place.

Hello, i love your videos and followed your captains daughter/cat 'o nine tails tutorial and it came out great. Is there a way you could do one of your flogger tutorials with 7 strands of paracord? I've been interested in making a flogger based on the Christian flagellant Discipline (7 strands and 3 knots)

👌🏻👍🏻. The proper dressing makes all the difference. This is the part where I have to force myself to be patient. (which is a task in itself. 😉)

Hi, thanks for the video. I’m just curious why remove the inner strands? Is it necessary? I think I would like to leave them in so it’s a little more heavyweight.

It's for the plaiting; it looks a lot smoother with gutted cord.

I did something like this. I used steel ball bearings in the gutted cord to add weight. Only an inch or so. If you used plastic, like nylon BBs, you could do the whole length with a bit more heft, or alternate steel and nylon in different ratios to tweek the feel.
