He is not known for Looking back. Style council fans were luke warm on his decision to re orchestrate some of the bands songs a few years. When he went solo he didn't notify the band. Bruce foxton took legal action over royalties. But weller wrote all the songs. Think weller won that battle
He was the definition of the angry punk starting out. The jam was the best bxnd he ever put together. And what a song writer he was. Thats entertainment, town call malice, in the tube station at midnight eton rifles.
I was so luck to have lived my late teens and early 20's during what I believe to be the best years of music in general. Honestly, so many bands, so much variety of music. No other decades even come close to these years. The Style Council is a prime example. I get goose bumps. I want to go back to that time and relive it over and over again. Like groundhog day. I wish these years never have gone away.
I get the impression that if he was offered that, or received the letter he would shred it quietly. He was only in politics at some point in the early 1980s but then got disillusioned and quietly walked away from left leaning social political csuses. He comes across as an intense somewhat narky person. He loathes the term the mod father.
He and his wife instigated legal proceedings against the tabloid press when they had thier privacy invaded by a pap who followed them while they had day out as a couple. Its no suprise that he guards his privacy the way he does.
He rejected the CBE in 2006 and I think he was approached again and refused it again,he said it's not for him,I really respect him for that,only conformers except honers.
Mr. Weller has it all. Crazy talented musician (singer, songwriter, et al) who’s never been afraid to innovate, a highly intelligent and thoughtful guy, *and* one of the most handsome men I’ve ever seen 😍

Thats because he was a left leaning socialistic song writer. He was burned somewhat by being pulled into the political entertainment left. He stay away from the music press. And is not given to look back nostalgia careerism.
