Not true, those born in the 1970s and earlier are aware of their presence and their brands/companies/products. Taking UOB as an example, whenever we siblings walk past their bank or visit their banks with our parents, we will be told that the UOB chairman is the pride of we Chinese in SG, either by their influence/business or by their generous donation to build a school, community hospital etc. Its the later generation of the 80s and onward that do not bother with such knowledge.
