I went into this store several times when I was a kid with my grandfather. Seeing all that fresh produce reminded me of the best tomatoes I have ever had in my life! The veggies grown in that good ole NC clay were and I am sure are still the best! My grandfather was a road contractor and I remember standing up there on the what is now I-26 (it was not finished back then) on the eastern continental divide. He said watch this and he took a wooden match out and threw it off the bridge and it was falling so fast that the friction actually lit the match! Just memories that you will never forget. I sure loved listening to the Mayor, Tangie speak in the video. She is a wealth of info and she throws in that dry humor too!
Wow! This is one of the best general stores..I love the mayor..She knows so much history..She's a wealth of information.. I remember the old general stores..I used to walk to one in our neighborhood..penny candy days..All the video's you do are so informative..thank you John for showing us all these amazing general stores..Thank you for all you do..😊
This is why I like watching your videos visiting old stores like this and it is like stepping into a time machine going back when stores like this were everywhere and there were several around the area here in Oklahoma where i live and Thanks for the Memories.🇺🇲☕🥛🇺🇲
What a grand little store with lots of neat items. I saw an old Coca-Cola sign in the background at the 24:10-24:23 mark. I have that same piece of signange and have never seen another. It's the lady with the pink dress and hat. It's called "Miss Betty". I'm not sure if hers and mine are the same, but I'll have to travel there to check it out. I'm told the sign I have may be the top part of a monthly calendar poster with the monthly calendar part missing. It's dated 1914. Another awesome video.
This video 📷📸 was absolutely amazing and incredible. I hope and pray that these old general stores will live on forever because it's how it used to be. I want to thank these wonderful ladies for sharing their history of the old store and how it all started. And thank you John for everything you do as well. Everyone is doing an amazing job. May the good Lord always bless you all and keep you all safe and healthy where ever you go
Nothing like a general store! I love the many smells frome leather to wood. Don't forget the sounds, hardwood floors under your feet , to the cooler starting up! Need to save as many of these treasures as possible. I remember as a child getting balsa wood airplanes, howbout you? Thank you for sharing!
