tried the oase skimmer and that killed a few of my nano fish as their tails got stuck. Would you say this is both nano fish safe and shrimp baby safe? I like that you can adjust the top as well. could be that you have solved the age old aquarium problem mentioned above.
Hi there! The intake regualtor dial allows the skimming intensity of the SK400 Surface Skimmer to be adjusted to help keep baby fish and shrimp safe! 👍
@@fluval cheers. One more question about your co2 bio system pro. When can I find a review of the solenoid version? Contemplating buying your product or arka based on citric acid. I heard a few bad reviews on the smaller versions due to poor instructions on the mixing and dosage. Also the bubble counter should be extremely sensitive and not hold pressure over time well. Wondering if the larger version 5L capacity version is going to have the same problems?
Love this, The Fluval SK400 surface skimmer is a product designed for use in aquariums. It's primarily used to remove organic film, debris, and other pollutants from the surface of the water, which helps to improve water quality and clarity in the aquarium. Here are some key features and aspects of the Fluval SK400 surface skimmer: Efficient Surface Skimming: The SK400 is designed to efficiently remove surface debris from the water's surface, including organic waste, oils, and other pollutants that can accumulate. This helps to prevent the formation of surface scum and improves gas exchange, which is essential for the health of fish and other aquatic inhabitants. Adjustable Flow Rate: The skimmer typically comes with an adjustable flow rate feature, allowing you to control the intensity of surface skimming based on your aquarium's needs. This flexibility ensures optimal performance without causing excessive disturbance to the water surface. Easy Installation: Fluval SK400 surface skimmer is usually designed for easy installation and integration into most aquarium setups. It can be easily attached to the aquarium's filtration system or connected to a separate pump, depending on the model. Compatibility: The SK400 is often compatible with various types of aquarium setups, including freshwater and marine aquariums. It's suitable for use in both planted and non-planted tanks. Low Maintenance: Maintaining the skimmer typically involves periodic cleaning of the skimming chamber and foam filter to ensure optimal performance. However, the skimmer is designed to be relatively low maintenance, requiring minimal attention once installed. Quiet Operation: Many users appreciate that the Fluval SK400 operates quietly, minimizing disturbances to the aquarium environment and its inhabitants. Overall, the Fluval SK400 surface skimmer is a popular choice among aquarium hobbyists looking to maintain clean and healthy water conditions by effectively removing surface debris and pollutants.
Hi there! The SK400 Surface Skimmer features an intake regulator dial that allows the skimming intensity to be adjusted to help protect small fish and shrimp. 👍
It'd be great if it didn't have such high visibility with the brightly colored components. I really don't need it to have a "color pop" because it's not a decoration.
Hi there! The suction cups are more than sufficient to keep the surface skimmer in place - there have been no issues with the units we've been testing for over 18 months! 😊
Or just angle your wavemaker, powerhead or fliter outlet towards the surface. You will also have one less gadget in the aquarium that needs to be maintained.
Hi there! Increasing surface agitation is a great way to help break up surface films, but depending on the aquarium setup, a surface skimmer may be necessary to get rid of them entirely.
So it pulls the oil from the top and shoots it back out….. which then rises back to the top. I doubt that tiny piece of black sponge will do anything. It should be directed back to the filter. Sorry this isn’t as good as your previous surface skimmer that actually attaches to the filter
Hi there! Standalone surface skimmers like the Fluval SK400 have existed for a long time, and are extremely effective! The sponge inside the unit helps to trap debris, and what it doesn't collect enters the water column to be removed by the filter. The surface skimmer attachment for the 07 Series is indeed very efficient, but isn't an option in smaller aquariums or ones without a canister filter!
@@fluval hmmmm well it said for tanks up to 100, but most people with a 100 gallon tank will have a canister filter. I do agree is it a nano tank type skimmer though
@@Waiting4RealLifea canister filter doesn’t change the fact you get the oil build up and still would need a skimmer. You’re completely missing the point of what it does.
@@WHlSKYx the oil build up would be trapped in the canister filter. You said the oil would be put into the water column and then taken into the filter and removed. Now you are saying the original skimmer Fluval made, that puts it directly INTO the filter doesn’t remove the oils? I never said this wouldn’t help with a smaller tank. I said it would be good for a tank without canister filter. I’m trying to have a discussion and to be honest no fresh water tank needs a skimmer for oils… unless you are saying this is a saltwater skimmer?
The one thing i was waiting for a long time.

Is it available in Canada yet
Hi there! The SK400 Surface Skimmer will be available in Canada within the next few weeks. 👍
Do they make a clear version?
Hi there! No, the SK400 is only available in the colors shown in the video.

Would this work on a nano salt water tank?
Hi there! We don't recommend using the SK400 Surface Skimmer in saltwater aquariums.
@fluval Hi, just curious on why this should not be used in saltwater aquariums?
@@pawelmuskus2613To keep the price point down they’ve probably used less expensive metal parts that aren’t saltwater proof would be my guess.
I‘m interested in buying it. When will it be available in Germany?
We expect the SK400 Surface Skimmer to be available in Germany this summer! 👍
Also bis jetzt gibst hier in Deutschland noch nichts im Angebot.
Anyone can tell if works good in shrimp aquariuns and babyfish aquariuns?

Do you have a UK relase date?
The SK400 Surface Skimmer will be available in the UK in the next week or two! 👍
sweet. Thanks @@fluval
Is the Skimmer available in Germany?
Hello! The SK400 Surface Skimmer will be available in Germany this summer. 🌞
Thanks for your answer ❤!!!
A big hug from Germany
Very nice!

How much is this?
Hi there! Pricing varies regionally, so we encourage you to contact your local aquatics retailer for that information. 👍
will this suck in air bubbles from an air stone?
Hi there! Yes, if the air bubbles are near the surface skimmer's floating intake.
Got one and works great and the price was wonderful
How much was this?
Why is the top red? Why not make it black so it’s not so obvious. It’s like I huge pimple on any aquarium
UPDATE: I did end up getting this skimmer and in my Fluval shaker, the red top is hidden by the hood, so not a problem at all
The suction cups look too small. Probably going to fall off the glass all the time.

They do just fine so far
