  • This famous theme, sung by Dick James was issued In 1956. It was released on Parlophone records with Stephen James and children's chorus (which, together with extened lyrics, did not feature in the actual TV theme as aired) and Ron Goodwin's Orchestra. It reached number 14 in the UK charts.
Another version was released by Pye Records with Gary Miller and Tony Osbourne orchestra and the Beryl Stott chorus, which reached number 10 in the UK charts. Versions by Frankie Laine (CBS Coronet), Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra (Capitol), Alan Dale (Coral), Joe Reisman's orchestra and chorus (RCA Victor), and Ronnie Ronalde (Colombia) were also issued.
The TV series ("The Adventures Of Robin Hood") was one of the first newly created Independent Television's offerings and ran from 1955 to 1959. It was very popular here and abroad. The video clips shown here are opening titles of the original TV show (1955) and later excerpts from much later TV series.

Loved this when I was knee high to a grasshopper.
Had a chuckle at the later clip with the fella with his perfectly coiffured hair and the eye make-up...🥴

😂Yes, that would not have gone down well in 1955 ("We asked for a Robin Hood, not a Maid Marion" 🤬..lol!) But there were more action shots in the later versions, so that is why they appear in the video. 😊 Looking forward to hearing more of your practically perfect 78s this weekend! Will we be lucky...?
