My el cheapo generic 1/16 model is faster than this out of the box! Not really a great achievement... maybe for a Tamiya lol
Fast and cheap are 2 words never said with Tamiya. The challenge is speed. Or we would call it the "Speed Run Easy" You are more than welcome to join us in making slow cars go fast. The fun is in the effort as much as the results.
@@Paul__FC thanks.for replying. The thing I like about Tamiya is their attention to detail. Their scale models of full size cars are the ones I like. I used to race superbikes so I like making anything go fast. Looking forward to seeing this car go brushless lol

Yeah, I'm that one single person in the entire RC community who isn't excited about that Evo Hornet thing, he he... Like you said, a lot are doing this already, and actually Yonghee Humble Village RC, he did similar on a Wild One, put a DT-02 gearbox on it, only he didn't call it Evo and make a big number out of it, ha ha!
Lol! Getting in front of the camera gives me anxiety. On an up note I went for a 2 mile walk after seeing myself on camera.

@rivierarc absolutely get a gyro. Mine is built into my spektrum receiver, and it works fine.
It is great seeing all these new people/channels. I hope one day I find people in my area to run with.
@@Paul__FC i use the DumboRC receivers and they do one with Gyro so will be purchased on Friday (pay day)
Yeah, i am lucky in that respect as there are quite a few friends that have got bacl in to RC since lockdown etc
The "mistake" paint scheme is pretty cool and it looked great running around. I just got my chassis built last night and I am trying to figure out what I am going to run in it, brushed or brushless. Best of luck in the challenge!

Welcome aboard!!! I was very surprised. It kept inching higher each pass. I took my time on this one. I shimmed all the controll arms to get the slop out. Also shimmed the transmissions for perfect gear mesh. I just need a set of 5mm shims the Axle output shafts.
@@Paul__FC thank you very much. I only shimmed the axle - shafts so far ... the rest is still in it's wobbly factory state... you can clearly see that tamiyas are made to have fun in your driveway at a reasonable price. These are no precise speedrun machines 🤣😅😬
I'm new to your channel as well because of this speed run malarkey. That paint job is awesome 👍 it's nice to see something away from the box art. Hopefully it brings you luck.
I'm prepping my beetle for the brushed category at the moment. I built it about a year ago now and I'm glad I've got an excuse to upgrade it. I'll probably start a new RC channel, as all my videos are motorbike stuff just now.
@the.just.able.biker67 nothing wrong with a motorcycle. I have a 2001 Hayabusa I bought new. I did an APE 1449 kit to it and it screamed. Now it sounds like a bag of hammers . Haven't got around to rebuilding it.
Get that channel going and I'll sub up right away.

@reitplace4765 right on! 20 mph with stock motor and a old 7.2v put a smile on my face. Tamiya usually designs for 16mph out of the box.

Hey , how are you. That's the Insta360 x4. It has a "Deep Tracking" mod in editing. It actually captures everything in a sphere and weeds out what you don't want. I bought all the gears on the tamiya hop up page , at tamiya usa.

Have you seen the hornet evo? Are you going to get it it comes out in the fall.
I'm getting 3. They will be perfect for me and the kids to run on the backyard track.
@Paul__FC I don't know if it comes with hex drive screws but I know it comes with full bearings.They say and I think it's got a shorter wheel base than the original.

@UncleBobsRC I have a collection of them. I gave my 7th one to Fil a few years back for his videos. He, in turn, helped get the body repo'd. I was the guy that donated the new body for destruction. :)
@@Paul__FC Awesome... the FX-10 buggy was a flop but the FXT was a better hit in the day of Stadium Trucks however, I still loved my RC10 T3 Team kit..
