  • The air quality in Delhi worsened this morning as people defied a ban on firecrackers during Diwali celebrations on Thursday. The relentless bursting of firecrackers caused severe noise pollution and blanketed the national capital in dense smoke with residents flouting the restrictions till late at night.

Delhi's pollution rates are a major concern, especially during Diwali. On Diwali day, the city's 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 328, which falls under the "very poor" category ¹. This is primarily due to the bursting of firecrackers, which adds to the existing pollution from vehicular emissions and stubble burning.
    *Normal Days Pollution Rate:*
On regular days, Delhi's AQI usually ranges from moderate to poor, with an average AQI of around 200-300 ². However, during winters, the AQI tends to deteriorate due to unfavorable meteorological conditions.
    *Diwali Pollution Rate:*
In comparison, Diwali pollution rates are significantly higher, with AQI levels often reaching the "severe" category. Here are some AQI levels recorded on Diwali in previous years:
    - 2023: 218
    - 2022: 312
    - 2021: 382
    - 2020: 414
    - 2019: 337 ¹
    *Key Pollutants:*
The main pollutants contributing to Delhi's poor air quality are:
    - _Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10)_ : From firecrackers, stubble burning, and vehicular emissions
    - _Carbon Monoxide (CO)_ : From vehicular emissions and industrial activities
    - _Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)_ : From vehicular emissions and industrial activities ²
Keep in mind that these numbers can vary depending on several factors, including weather conditions and pollution control measures.

    Very poor journalism.
Is this what you call searching for the correct answer?
Have you ever even taken a moment and thought of an actual cause/reason or even when you spoke, did you even think of an alternative?
Let me ask you a few questions:
    1) Are firecrackers the only cause of increasing air pollution in Delhi?
    2) Is banning firecrackers during Diwali the sole solution to reduce pollution?
    3) What else is the Delhi Government doing to reduce pollution other than banning firecrackers? (No answer for this, I am pretty sure. 😂)
    4) Have you checked this year's record of industries and factories built in Delhi?
    (Probably not. 😂)
    5) Have you checked the amount of pollution each factory creates every year? Has it increased or decreased?
    6) Did the pollution control board or even your "finest journalist" take a moment to think or question that maybe, just maybe, if we close factories during Diwali this year, how much pollution will be reduced?
This is why you are not even real journalists. You are just a politically biased news outlet in my view, which is very shameful.
