Medtner's op38 forgotten melodies are some of favorite pieces of the 20th century. You can hear why Rachmaninov thought so highly of Medtner. 2:30-3:27 and on are some of the most achingly beautiful passages ever composed, encapsulating exactly what this sonata is about. There is no greater champion of Medtner and other unjustly neglected composers than Hamelin. Bravo!
this piece without a doubt has the best build-up + delivery execution I have ever heard. It slowly becomes more and more intense til finally - BAM - it goes crazy. I love it lol. If it weren't 16 minutes long I would learn it myself.
This is one of the most ingenious act of playing the piano that one can ever witness
