If not, move on!..much love ❤ to you and your wife! YOU are amazing!...AND inspire me daily!
every month or so, i take my curtains down and just throw them in the dryer on a wrinkle release cycle. it quickly sucks all the dust out of them. and i have curtains on every window in my house. it only takes about 2 or 3 rounds to get them all and makes a big difference in our allergies. i did get the grommet style for our heaviest curtains, theyre not the most cute but they are the most practical for maintaining them.
Thanks for the great reminder about caring for your window treatments and lighting. It’s so easy to get excited about something and forget about the effort of caring for it.
You're looking great lately. I'm always seeing you old and new videos and you're looking younger 👍🏼 The content has consistently been great, thank you❗️
Hi Kiva! I haven't been to your channel quite a while and I must say you look absolutely great! Agree on almost all of the points (especially about recessed light because I lost my stuff in a hotel because they dont have proper lighting), except for one. Please avoid using C batteries because they're toxic and not environmentally friendly. Yes they're cheap but they can explode if not discarded properly. Rechargeable battery is still toxic but at least they have a much longer lifespan
Kiva I am so, so glad you devoted a segment to art, and original artwork. Also thank you for calling out the spackle art every HomeGoods carries on the planet. I hate, hate, hate meaningless art and 100% agree it's the antithesis of luxury and calm. Black and white spackle art - 🤮. Give me some emotion! Give me some color and life on my walls!
Photography is also art. Take your iPhone for a walk and find interesting architecture or landscapes. Take some pictures and blow them up and frame the ones you want to keep.
Agree with a lot of what you say except pot lights or recessed lighting. I hate pot lights. They create pockets of darkness and I need glasses for distance and not close up. But I hate to wear them, pot lights mean I cannot see in the dark shadows. I mix up ceiling lights and table or free standing lights in my rooms. Pass on pot lights...
Great video! 1st love you are in the 412 and reference the Pens! 2nd, thank you for validating it's ok to mix items from different stores. I have everything from Macy's to Amazon to Lazy Boy to Levin. 3rd thank you for endorsing bedroom furniture can match, I keep hearing it shouldn't and I was starting to feel some type of way 😂 And lastly, I need some artwork for above my couch waiting for your artwork😊.
Hi Kiva You’re right about the curtains 🙌🏼 all of my curtains are velvet and I started to wash 2 panels each week that gives me time to be done by the end of this month ready for Christmas The same here about vintage furniture I don’t mind at all about the store behind them 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing. I was looking for a faux tree for my living room. Id like to know more information on the red one behind you. Can you please share where you purchased and the price?
Could not agree more about recessed lighting!!!! We added so many led wafer lights when building our condo and added smart switch dimmers so we can just ask google to dim the lights. I like having the option to have a bright space then dim them super low at night.
I don't know who's hating on can lighting. Everyone remodeling in our neighborhood is putting them in. We put 7 in the garage when we did our upgrades!
I love having bright white recessed lighting, and all other lighting to be yellow softer lighting so I have options. My home is very much warm wood tones, so I tone it down with white accents and cooler colors. We splurged on a piece of art that of the first town we lived in. I love designing spaces, but it's more important that you love where you live than others.
My family loved elaborate curtains. It was always a signal to the younger kids when they woke up to the sound of music in the morning that today was curtain cleaning day- don't make any plans.
I’d love to see sofas facing the TV in Pinterest photos. Bowl style pendant lights with white frosted glass collect so many bugs and a lot of dust. At night it’s even more obvious they need cleaning.
I FREAKING LOVE YOUR DESIGNS. I HAVE BOUGHT SO MANY OFYOUR RECOMMENDATIONS. I have that frame around my bath😢mirror 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙 I’m tryin ti lighten my living rooms without rece lighting it’s expensive. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO😭🙏🏽😭
We're building our forever home, which is a castle. A medium-sized one, but a castle nonetheless. There will be absolutely no crystal lighting! Iron and candle chandeliers, brass sconces, etc. That is what we purchased.
at 6:17 you have what looks like 4 picture frame in black with a mini bust / head sculpture in it, where did you buy the sculpture / art / picture frame (assuming it was purchased as one unit)? Or are the sculptures purchased separately and you paired it with the picture frame? If the mini sculptures were purchased separately where did you buy it?
Don't use a picture light above a frame with glass. It will just be a reflection. Especially if it's not custom framed with good glass. Also, no picture hangs flush to the wall
We have to change what success looks like being able to fill your home with expensive restoration hardware is meaningless. If you have to sale, your soul.
Well, I want curtains. But I would never take them down every three months. So I guess I’ll keep my blinds. I do have recessed lighting in my house. But I want some sconces next to my kitchen window. Our bedroom is off the kitchen. And my husband wants the lights off. So I can’t do dishes before I go to bed. If I put some sconces with rechargeable lights, which you have shared. I could still see to do whatever dishes don’t go in the dishwasher. I haven’t gotten any yet. But I will. I will never have a luxurious space. I have a husband and three dogs. I’m doing good to have a clean space. My whole house is mix and match. Well, I do have a dresser and chest of drawers in my bedroom that match. Because we bought them a long time ago, and they’re wood and have lasted a long time. The guest bedroom furniture we bought from different estate sales. And a few pieces match, the rest doesn’t. But we’re keeping it too. Most of our artwork came from estate sales too. We shop them all the time.
I TOTALLY agree, Crystal chandeliers are SOOO overrated and last century. For the luxury look I'm gonna pull out the RGB LED light strips. But don't worry, I'm totally gonna recess them behind something, lol. Just kidding....sort of, but I actually like the look of well utilized color changing LEDs....it looks cyber punk/futuristic to me, which is where my design interests are(contemporary/future forward
See my comment. Clean your chandelier pieces in the dishwasher. Fantastic results ! Chandeliers will NEVER go out of style ! Remember the 60's when newly weds wanted stainless steel instead of silver? Bet they're sorry now !!!
For me, personally, chandeliers, crystal or otherwise, really are already WAAAAY outdated, as is, again FOR ME PERSONALLY about 85-90% of decor, because, ad I said, I'm in a very future forward viewpoint and style, and so much "sound decorator" advice is so stuck in the past and traditional concepts, which, to be fair, is where 85-90% of people naturally exist, and where they prefer to exist; I'm an odd ball!
Nooooo recessed lighting. It’s harsh and horrible. It screams third shift custodial or the oncology ward. Just use ambient lighting with dimmers so you can crank them things up when you need to clean.
REALLY? HOW CAN YOU & WHO ARE YOU TO TELL SOMEONE WHO'S SPOKEN THAT WAY THEIR ENTIRE LIVES TO CHANGE FOR YOU US& ANYONE ELSE? THAT SHIT DOESN'T HAPPEN OVER NIGHT AND EVERYONE WASN'T CREATED THE SAME. SO EITHER DEAL WITH IT, CATCH UP OR CATCH OUT. GO WATCH SOMEBODY ELSE. DUHHH, IT'S JUST THAT SIMPLE SIMON. 👀🤨🙄🤦🏿♀️🥴🤷🏿♀️

Thank you so much!! 💕💕
Agreed ! I love recessed lighting despite what some decorators are saying about it. I think it's classic and I think it makes a home beautiful.
Tiny tip: When giving photo credit to Etsy, make sure to credit the seller/creator too!
I agree, those two art pieces of yours are sublime. I've been trying to find the artist since I started watching your channel!
You're looking great lately. I'm always seeing you old and new videos and you're looking younger 👍🏼 The content has consistently been great, thank you❗️
Great video KB. Especially as I decorate a new house! I follow your amazon store also! Love your recommendations!
I use rechargeable lights to avoid chords. I wash my curtains at daylight saving time. I can only do that chore 2x's a year.

You are so right, I bought some bland art that matched my vibe, but it isn't honestly interesting. Guilty as charged! I need to revisit. Thank you!
Growing up is considering cleaning/maintenance over aesthetics when considering design decisions in your home lol

Great idea! I've been searching for large scale photography for too long now. I'm going to create my own!
Ur comment about the folding chair is hilarious!!
Most of my art work is sketches my dad did. I absolutely love them because they are the last thing I have from him.
There are some really nice options in recessed lighting now. Brass and with some ornate details.
can you do a video on the best gifts for women under $50? I am in a couple of secret santa's and love your stuff.
Yes for sure!!

We built in 2008 and we had both options for recessed or mood lighting

Recessed lightning is like swiss cheese in the ceiling. I am so glad, it is gone. Good for hospitals, not for a living room.

designedbyai AI fixes this. Avoid common luxury design mistakes.
I know someone who painted over a light cord so it was stuck to the wall. This is not a lux look.
Hilarious that you are presuming people actually dust their chandeliers! I brely dust my bowl lights. Yes i am an animal.
