- Here's an ad for a grocery store chain that I grew up with here in Florida. They used "The Beef People" moniker for as long as I can remember. One of the cowboys in this ad was actor Jim Davis who played Jock Ewing, the father of J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) on TV's Dallas series. He is also doing the voiceover here.

Greetings from Planet Beef. I represent the Beef People.
I am not 100% certain, but the last cowboy on the right at :53 may be my father. Only found out recently he did an ad for one of these beef people campaigns
Per my mother, he said he was sick of steak after all this because any time there was a reshoot they'd have to light up some more steak and start eating again
@:47...the man himself...Jim Davis...aka Jock Ewing
Man, I was about to say.
"Winn Dixie single handed, went out and roped and branded..the best beef in the land". (commercial from 1971)
I used to see these ads in Louisiana.
I never knew that Jim Davis of *DALLAS* used to do these ads.
This ad was done before he became a star. Also, the comedian, Earnest hit it big after doing Winn Dixie commercials.
Good old jock Ewing
I wish winb dixie would come back to North Carolina miss those check sodas
Chek
AWESOME. 40 YEARS 8 MONTHS FOR ME AT W,D.
I remember these commercials. Jim Davis (Jock Ewing)
They ran these ads for YEARS.
I remember these commercials from every 70s he was riding on the horse and he was talking about the beef people Winn-Dixie
Welcome to the new song that every WD cashier hears over and over all day
BEEF It's what's for dinner!
Yea They are well known in the Atl.
I still want a steak when I see it.
Winn-Dixie was a great supermarket back in its day.But sadly those days are long gone & never coming back.
Winn Dixie! When you actually has a choice of a grocery store that was TOUGH! Eating beef and eating some more beef after that is tough. It's tough enough!
hotgold9 You may want to improve your syntax there “hotgold9.”
Now, *that's* what *I'M* talking about!
A *real* Winn Dixie commercial, and to hell with all the whining vegans out there who want to outlaw beef or make it unaffordable by making us buy "Carbon Credits" just to chow down on a burger or steak, simply because they believe that the beef industry is "unsustainable" and making the polar ice caps melt!
*ALL HAIL STEAK*!!
May American *never* give up eating beef!!!
is this a copy pasta?
Unfortunately, they haven't been "The Beef People" in a good long while, and now they're closing down. :-(
Today this add would be called racist
?????
Oh God, they're playing this shit in the stores right now. I get that they had a reputation or whatever the hell, but this is pouring it on a hella thick, and it's not even an accurate portrayal. Seems that Winn Dixie has a history of making tragically cheesy commercials--this John Wayne, Wild West type shit being just one example. Not a fan, lol. Besides all that, the future is not looking too bright for Winn Dixie. The money tree is dying.
Worst place to ever shop for meat. I've visited Winn Dixie stores from all over and their meat was all brown still in the pack as though they'd been half cooked and repackaged with DEAD FLIES stuck to the packaging🤮. I'm surprised that they're JUST NOW going out of business in certain places....
Sounds like you have a grudge. I've shopped here since 1975 and never saw what you are saying. And the Davis Brothers (original owners) had a corporation setup just to distribute money to charitable causes. I know because I installed the IBM computer they used for accounting. Great People, Great Legacy. My hat's off to the Davis Brothers....
@@stephenking596 and exactly how does the length of time YOU'VE shopped there change the negative experiences that I'VE HAD there as a customer over the years? Just because it was rainbows & sunshine for you as a customer doesn't mean that everybody else is going to have the same shopping experience sweetie. C'mon, you're not 4yrs old. You must know that. Sounds to me YOU are or were an employee or knows someone who works there & your being BIASED is making you BITTER over MY OPINION & EXPERIENCE. Don't bother replying. I've already taken the liberty of muting you 😜. HAPPY SATURDAY
Prove it.
@@friedchickenicedtea when you can physically delete yourself, then I will.... no need to reply. You're muted. Ahhhhhh that was easy😂
