- The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has confirmed the deaths of two more members who were deployed as part of the United Nations Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO).
The members died on the 29th of February, in an incident where one of them allegedly shot and killed the other with their service weapon before turning the weapon to themselves.
Last month two members were also killed in a mortar attack in the DRC with three others sustaining injuries.

War has never brought stability to any region. Only a political dialogue will work.South Africa was signatory to the 2013 agreement with m23 that eventually got thrown in the dustbin. Maybe a relook to that agreement could end this senseless unwinable war.

The rebel soldiers die too, same as other soldiers working for Congo and SADC. It's a war what do u expect in a war any one can die. Just that in SA any dead soldier is reported yet in the other groups u don't hear off their deaths because they are not SA concern in terms off reported deaths to SA media. I think Kenya and Tanzania together with Congo and SADC army needs to get together and design extensive plans on how they can control the mine sites, towns then push the rebels out off the bush. Remember that the are many off the rebel armies inside Congo bribed for information within the Congo and many Congo officials bribed in millions to report to the M23, the other rebel groups and it's leadership. So u will think u safe arround a Congo soldier not knowing it's A rebel soldiers in disguise.

This SADC mission should be repatriating the congolese refugees who are in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and elsewhere but now they SADC is supporting a government that segragate its people just because speaking kinyarwanda and yet they are native of DRC, even the villages in Northern Kivu are named in Kinyarwanda
Butare, Muhanga, Gicanga, Mweso, Kanyatsi, Muremure, Nyiragongo, Sake, Bunagana, Rumangabo...all of those localities are named in Kinyarwanda. How come then to deny the citizenship of the native people up to killing them all? Instead SADC should protect these innocent people

RSA should rather focus on building and training DRC govt forces at all levels (basic training, NCO training, platoon & company commander training, support arms creation - medical/logistics/intel). All paid for by the very wealthy DRC govt, for example through a "National Defence Surcharge" on mineral exports. But the elites in Kinshasa are not prepared to make the financial commitment to strengthen the DRC armed forces, so the tragedy of the east DRC continues.
But the issue is SANDF is also ill trained and ill equiped

DR Congo should stop to discriminate against it's people , M23 are Kinyarwanda speaking Congolese, with discrimination and tribalism DR Congo will never have peace and it will always fight loosing wars. First blame the colonists who demarcated boarders, if the DR Congo government doesn't want to accept them as it's people ,it should chase them together with their land. How many off the rebels life are taken out as well? Its a war people lose their lives fighting it. It doesn't matter where they come from. U cant avoid technicality and loss off life in any wars. SA soldiers, Congo soldiers and the many M23 and other rebel soldiers do get hurt as well. What the combined Africa union soldiers needs to do is an extensive organized plan to take over the mine sites, then the towns as they engage with the rebels in the bush pushing these thugs out off Congo. We saw how Kagame was so happy to see Congo joining the East African economic plans but knowing that the region is still under seige. There is too much corruption in Congo internally even though the AU militia is there hand on hand with the Congo army some corrupted working for the rebel groups secretly because being paid by the organized rebel groups leaders off the M23 and associate. U will think u safe in Congo next to a Congolese soldier but not realizing its a congo soldier that partners with the rebel armies. U also need Tanzania and kenyan soldiers to come in to help push this rebels out completely because SADC with Congo army isnt working faster than we thought it would. The War has been embedded in the Great lake region for a long time when we saw regime changes off leadership in the Congo that worked hand in hand in protecting the rebel groups and now u have bribed officials in the Congo paid in millions off dollars to look the ither way. The AU militia needs needs kenya and Tanzania militia group together set up an extensive plan to do the work at once than this draging ongoing non resolving voilence happening internally in the Congo villages and surrounding mine sites. U need extensive planning to execute and secure the mines, boarders and then have an army group comprised off the AU troops SADC- Congo, kenya and Tanzania troops then go all the way.
