Why I Stopped Recommending Printify & Stopped Making Kittl Tutorials

  • Hey everyone, welcome to my channel, I'm Mey :)
In the past few months I have been getting multiple variations of the SAME 2 questions:
    1. Why Am I not recommending Printify as a print on demand supplier, not making any Printify product reviews.
and 2. Why did I stop making Kittl design tutorials for print on demand or printables.
In this video I am going to share the answer to both.
It's important for me to state:
This is MY personal opinion, from my PERSONAL experience
and if you have had good experience with both or one of these companies- go ahead and use them. I am not trying to convince anyone what to do... But just felt like there should be a video that answers these questions.

I started this channel in January of 2021 to share my knowledge of selling digital downloads on Etsy, or any other platform, as well as my experience with Print on demand. I do my best to bring you the most relevant content about selling print on demand and printables, creating interesting print on demand designs, testing myself print on demand products and their quality, as well as provide you with marketing tutorials, and so much more! I recommend many services and websites in my videos, some may contain affiliate links- which means that you can have a discounted price, or the same price, while I earn a bit of a commission for the referral- to help support this channel and the costs of producing the videos.

Hey Mey, This nightmare experience you’ve been through is clearly not acceptable. We were grimacing when we heard it. It doesn’t matter how many millions of orders we get right, every single one matters, whatever country it’s in. Our senior team is investigating all the issues, and we’ll be in touch to put it right. Thank you for the update, and we promise to do better.

      Well,
As I mentioned in the video - ALL of my orders disappeared from my dashboard
Still got the invoices for them on the dashboard, but not the orders. I was also told on that someone would get back to me… they never did.
And every single time I eventually was at a loss with support - no one cared from printify.
And I’ve also mentioned this to over 4 printify affiliate managers along the past few years - they also didn’t seem to mind.
So what does it help when after 3 years the marketing team cares?

@@MeyTribe Hi Mey, We watched the whole video and we hear you. We realize we’re really late to sorting this out. All we can say is that we really believe in putting it right. The team is working on getting you orders with your designs and other samples as best we can. We’re also looking into each of the issues you mentioned to work out what went wrong.

@@Printify I feel like you're missing the point here (much like your recent customer support email that explained to me that I can't get a refund on orders made 2 years ago, even though I never requested one and it was never the topic of my support ticket).
Your team cannot work on getting me my orders- I haven't placed any order in over a year.
And I am sorry, but given the fact that, again, as recent as 2 hours ago, a support rep from printify replied to my support ticket with something that has nothing to do with what I said- I srsly doubt that.
I get where you're coming from, as the marketing team, but you support team is still making a mess.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve had more issues with orders from Printify than I haven’t. They truly don’t care. “Oh we’re looking into this, we’re so sorry, blah blah.” The print quality is 9/10 times awful and doesn’t look even close to how it should. They had to refund almost 40 orders because they couldn’t get two very basic shades of color correct. They also have lost numerous orders and orders once shipped continuously sit for days before any movement. I’ve had customers who order things well in advance for a special occasion not receive it in time. I couldn’t be more disappointed. They’ve negatively affected my business and have caused a lot of stress for me. SwiftPOD specifically is absolutely horrible. As soon as I find a new print partner, I’ll never use them again and will never recommend.

Your transparency is always so refreshing. I find often that I get this little feeling in my heart when checking out different companies and can never make the plunge to use them. I'm thankful you made this video. Absolutely 2024 is the year to be 100% authentic and remove things that add stress to your life. I've had the same experience with Printify never delivering a mouse pad I designed, contacting CC twice, and then giving up, As you said a personal experience has to carry more weight in all of our choices, and not that you need anyone's understanding, but I totally get why you gave up your affiliating Kittl, that was too much frustration. I find that I need the platform because I don't have skills like Procreate etc. so it's beneficial for me. Have a great rest of the day, by the way if people actually watch the video there is no need for nasty comments, you did not bad-mouth anything, just shared your experience. But it's the internet, where being nasty is the new normal

@Mey Aroyo BEST statement Ever, "I'm not employed by anyone, I pay my own bills. I'm employed by Me." The BEST thing you said. EVERY Morning when you look yourself in the mirror you should remind yourself of this. I LOVE that you refuse to bend or break your integrity and morals. THANK YOU! Just as a side note I have had similar issues with Printify. I have had their products for almost two years and nothing but crickets. I found out this week that when my customers go to purchase the order doesn't go through and its not on my side its on the providers side. And you are right its a shame because they have great products but I'm going to drop them as well. I will be reaching out to support this week and we shall see what the result is. Again, THANK YOU for holding fast to your integrity and morals. 💖

I actually find it refreshing that you're not just another Printify YT "Guru". I've had my own experiences with that company, not just their print partners, but Printify themselves, that make me not trust them as they seem to have shady business practices. I also hold less value in what the Printify gurus say about Printify as it all seems to have a bias (and Printify pretty much has all the POD gurus in their pocket). I appreciate you keeping your integrity and staying honest with us 💛

May I ask if you have experience with the print quality of the color magenta or bright pink on mugs by District Photo? When I click on the "realistic" option of the preview, not only does bright pink become a different color, purple, but a very ugly purple at that

The quality of customer service has tanked over the past few decades. I'm in my 50s and I remember when supply chains worked well and people genuinely wanted to help other people. All of that has waned severely, so what you experienced is not at all surprising to me. Anyway, I listened to your whole video and now am going to subscribe because you have integrity and that is extremely important to me. I have done art my entire life and want to make a living with it, but have not been able to figure out yet how the online art world works. I hope to find those answers. You have to do what's best for you. I'm glad you shared your experience.
My personal experience with printify was not good. I spent some time seeing if others were having issues and found several reddits that convinced me that they were not the company for me. Seems like everyone on YT was touting their praises but it's hard to know who is being honest or who is just getting paid to say nice things.
I started out on Kittl when they were brand new and I made a few designs there, but I kept finding myself going back to just creating in Adobe instead. I used them occasionally until they became a paid subscription and didn't feel like it was worth it the price. I think the kicker for me was that I had emailed their customer service to ask if my "free" designs would still be available as is (ie, could be exported without the background, correct size, etc) when they went to a paid version and was told yes. As soon as they went to a paid version, those few designs I had in the were now only available in a a much smaller size & lower resolution and were essentially worthless like that.

The ONLY way that we will ever know the extent of these issues, is because you report them. So, I very much appreciate your integrity and your reporting what has really happened. When companies don't properly train their customer support people, or don't teach them the importance of keeping their customers happy, they are doomed to fail in one way or the other.

Kittl is okay, but I don’t think it’s all that, like everyone makes it out to be. I prefer Canva and photoshop, and Inkscape, and Figma. I thought their Christmas sale was ridiculous, and I couldn’t believe how dishonest it was. Since that, I refuse to use them. Now, all of a sudden, they are giving some people coupon codes for 50% off a subscription, but I don’t know for how long, because no one seems to tell you if it’s for a month, two months, etc. I have really started to see which people, on this platform, are trustworthy and which ones are not. Most of the people just want you to click on their affiliate links or buy their over priced courses, which I have seen mostly complaints about. I have always felt that you were honest and enjoy what you do and want to share that. Most people are only doing this, because they want people to click their affiliate link.
It’s sad that people can’t voice their OPINION on anything, anymore, without being criticized. I wish printful would get more pet products because I would use them more. I have found some other places with pet products, however, I am worried about using them, because they don’t have many reviews. 😬

I’ve purchased a few things from Printify and thankfully I’ve received all of them. I love my micro suede yoga mat, but the shipping price is so high for them that it makes me hesitant to sell them. The coffee mug and journal weren’t bad and the sports bra well, that didn’t fit or look anything like the picture supplied. All in all I’ve had okay success with products ordered from them but I have heard others having similar issues to yours. I never switched to Kittl - I found it extremely confusing and at the time and even now I don’t have the desire to learn a new program. Thank you for taking the time to explain your experience. I appreciate it.

Great Video and a good insight into what happens behind the scenes. We have got Sublimation printers, Vinyl cutters, outsource Eco-Solvent, DTF prints etc and from our perspective Printify is a flawed business model, and a good way to lose control and customers. Kittl on the other hand from an end-user perspective is a good time-saving tool for inspiration and prototyping designs, and the new features list has expanded rapidly, with the AI tools being very useful and interesting.

I think it's awesome that you're printing at home, I used to live with a family that had some of these printers and it was so much fun!!
and yeah- Kittl is an awesome design app, I think that they are an amazing tool... like I mentioned- the video is why I don't recommend Printify and why I stopped make Kittl tutorials (not why I don't think people should use Kittl)
I haven't seen some of their latest improvements, but I heard they have gotten better, and if they do the trick for you and worth your money- all the better for you :)

With Printify, I've heard horror stories but recently this couple months some youtubers promotes them a lot. At this time of writing, I remember only youtuber Michael van der Voort says he's only sticks to Printful.
Too bad I never had a chance selling with Printify, but yeah, this definitely makes me remember another printify horror story. Thank you for the video. I need to test on my own if I want to use printify or not.

I have such mixed feelings about Printify. I have been using them for about a year, and they have always been responsive to me and help with issues. So I thought I would join in more with their community. The more I dug in though... they feature certain people as their 'rockstars' and these people give advice on their channel. After further digging, these 'rockstars' are the ones encouraging people to flood platforms with thousands of garbage products to make $20,000 a month. One of them actually has tutorials on her YT channel on how to copy best selling products and designs. TUTORIALS!!!!! I actually feel a little dirty associating myself with Printify, even though the company has been good to me personally.
I like that Fourthwall is Printful instead, even though I haven't done my digging around on them yet.
You do you! Mey, you need to make decisions that allow you to sleep at night... with a clear conscience. Ignore the haters ✌️

Yes, most people use Canva for that wince you can give a unique link to th person who purchases it, they usually put the link in a downloadable PDF file with instructions, just make sure to not use any canva pro elements in those files so that yhe client could easily edit and download them or print them without needing a canva pro subscription..... i started making a range of organic cotton t shirts with printful and the amount of times the colours were sold out and the sizes pretty much had my available items was less than half of what it should be... then tried other t shirts and overall t shirts jus seemed like such a hit or miss that it would just destroy a shops ratings...... so had no interest in committing time and money to it as too much out of my control... The Printful Fine matte paper for art then seemed like a consistent product...but the printify option won but only because of the 1 supplier. So printify with the correct supplier should be far better than interacting with others... but we see ;)) Good luck with your next step. Worth going straight to certain suppliers if big enough to not bother with printify..

I’ve always preferred Printful and Gelato bc they actually print your items themselves and ship them, I don’t like Printify business model of being something like an intermediate between you and the people who actually make and ship your items because having more people in the chain of work usually simply means more trouble if something goes wrong since responsibly is shared and intervention is not direct (meaning: you ask printify and printify has to contact the individual provider you chose and check with them).

First- I don't think people should stop using Kittl if they like it, I think it's an awesome platform, but I was explaining why I stopped making tutorials on them.
Second, Place it is the BEST place for mockups in my book, it always was.
They have the largest variety in the industry.
Also, you'll find that Canva has mockups:
      ruclips.net/video/qMxngtmbYQY/видео.html
For wall art, the BEST one is Canvy by far:
      ruclips.net/video/L42EKxj1Kf0/видео.html
For tshirts and other wearables there is the mockupmark with some really good freebies:
      ruclips.net/video/cdEFXX2ez-0/видео.html
The "best" mockup platform would be the one that is BEST for you, for the items you design, so it differs from shop to shop....

I'm not sure it ever ran slow for me, only when using the biggest size, cause it's a web app, and in these large sizes it need extremely high speed net to run properly, and it can be a bit slow, especially compared to other tools.
