I am a young airman in the USAF, stationed in a far off land. The music makes me feel so cold, and distant from what I know. Yet, the rhythm draws me in. The year is 1979, and the 1980 Winter Olympics are soon to start in Lake Placid, New York. The music sounds as if it's from Europe, or Scandinavia. I have to continue to endure the music. It is mesmerizing and cryptic. The ballad is sending me a message; not sure what it means. I will survive. I will get through this. I must learn what this means.

Alan Parsons ist ein Perfektionist im Sound mixen. Das muss man sehr oft hören, um wirklich alle feinen Töne und Melodien zu erfassen.Große Klasse diese Langversion.

The late Eric Woolfson has been brushed off of the picture. It seems that people has already forgotten that the Alan Parsons Project was a two men act (plus a rotatintg cohort of associated singers and players).

When I was a child, I saw a documentary about trains on the TV. The steam driven locomotives with a bunch of wagons behind them driving powerfully through the landscapes, filmed in close up, with this song played as soundtrack, had quite an impression on me some 35 years ago. i still have these pictures coming to my mind when I hear this.

I heard Alan Parsons project back in the late 70's, I was about 13. My sister was playing it in her room. Instantly I was mesmerized and taken into another world, a fascinating place in my mind I never knew existed. I became a loyal fantasy addicted fan! To the day as an older woman I still get very fascinated and stimulated in my mind. This music takes me places I could never imagine on my own! Music is truly the SPICE of life, THIS is the genius music without a doubt, without it, we are an uninteresting society. Thank the universe for beyond the plane thinking and imagination of such geniuses as Alan Parsons Project ❣🙌🏽🙌🏽

I've just rediscovered Alan Parsons Project. Last time I heard their music was in the 80's, I was a kid, and never knew the name, so the melodies got lost in my memories. After listening to Sirius and Lucifer, I understand by whom Schiller (Christopher von Deylen) got influenced.

Alan Parsons Project was ahead of its time by decades. this tune, along with Sirius and Eye in the Sky are easily in the pantheon of rock. the genius is in the simplicity and masterful execution. no one can come close to APP, there are only followers, but none of them outdoes APP.

In a former life I was an artistic roller skating coach. One of the best routines I put together used a segment of Lucifer. The 7 yr old killed it and everyone asked where I got the music. Not the first time I used his music. ELP Tarkus probably got the most attention, though. At that time, all the (other) little boys wanted to skate to Star Wars. My skaters knew better.

This song has nothing to do with Satan.... for those wondering about the origination of the name of this song...."Lucifer is located on the Dakar radio light of Senegal, which is used by vessels near Senegal. The beacon is sending "vvv de 6WW", where "vvv" is a tuning part for tuning the receiver's radio, "de" is a code word followed by the Morse Station Id and "6WW" is the Dakar radio beacon ID.
The world has evolved more since those days, and Lucifer "the bearer of light" is even more powerful and brilliant due to technical development and improvements."

this song sounds from behind nealry the same... just as "satanistic" music thats why its name is Lucifer.....btw i love symetric stuff :)

That explanation sounds like a mumbo jumbo bunch of trash to me. The song on the other hand is very cool.

Context is key here, and the key to understanding any Alan Parsons album is to realize that each one of them is thematic. Each song on that album tells a different part of the story, a different perspective, if you will, of that album. The name of this album is EVE, and it takes a somewhat dim view of women as being both desirable and treacherous, and also something that men can never quit. "Lucifer" is the devil of Genesis who tempts Eve to disobey God in the Garden of Eden. The Project opens all their albums with an instrumental which is intended to help establish the theme, and “Lucifer” is the opening track on EVE.

The intro theme for the TV version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was the Eagles' "Journey of the Sorcerer". i literally grew up hearing "Journey of the Sorcerer" and didn't recognize it in HGTTG - the TV series because they used that strong crescendo toward the middle, not the beginning of the song as the Eagles recorded it.

It seems most TV news outfit use this as an intro to their newscasting show. In the Philippines it was used as well, the channel it belongs too is already defunct though.
