The new flock of hens are being let out to pasture.

The new flock of hens that arrived at Sundhult have been kept indoors due to the restrictions against avian influenza, but those restrictions have now been lifted.
Finally, our bovans brown hens are able to go out to pasture and be real chickens. They'll graze on grass and herbs, hunt insects, small animals, and worms, and indulge in delightful dust baths under the open sky with bright sunshine, and most importantly, lay truly delicious and nutritious pasture-raised eggs.
However, there's quite a bit that needs to be done to make sure that having the hens in this manner works.
The egg mobile needs to be prepared, fences need to be put up, and the pastured hens need to be moved into the wagon.

Vi har inga större problem med rovfågel.
Det är så många fåglar som är vaksamma och kan varna varandra,
Det verkar dessutom som att det tar lite extra tid för rovfågeln att välja byte när det är så många, så då hinner de gömma sig under och i äggmobilen,
Vi har förlorat några höns till rovfågel, och då har det i princip alltid varit så att äggmobilen och hagen varit nära en skogskant. Speciellt tidigt och sent på utesäsongen.
