Miracles like this don't happen on a daily basis. For the first time in years a very intelligent man who happens to be a first class economist became president of our country. After years of being governed by incompetent politicians most of which were basically thieves that turned our beautiful rich nation into a decadent dump, now we have a chance of seeing the light. One of the secrets of his success lies in that he educated a lot of people by giving economy lectures for free on public places, like squares or gardens while in campaign. It's a once in a lifetime chance for Argentina. VIVA LA LIBERTAD!🦁💪

Hr lowered the inflation with short-term fixes-currency controls, austerity, and IMF lifelines-that ignore Argentina’s need for structural reforms (tax simplification, labor flexibility, and export competitiveness). Until the peso reflects true market value and inflation is tackled without repression, the current stability is a ticking time bomb. As history shows, artificial exchange rates always collapse-the question is when, not if

Milei’s 10 consecutive fiscal surpluses were achieved via brutal spending cuts (e.g., slashing pensions, public sector layoffs, and freezing infrastructure projects), pushing poverty to 53%. This social cost breeds political instability, risking policy reversals. Milei’s policies rely on financial repression to sustain the peso’s artificial strength

And also that monetary regime was diverse, basically dollarized. This is a completely different case, there is also an inherit capital control, so Milei have the official rate and the illegal rate (this one is accesible to all and free exchange rate), the official rate is fixed but it cant end bad because its impossible to have massive capital runs right now. At maximun, being costly could affect the industrial sector and have a recession + unemployment if everything goes bad, which is not that possible in these years since stability is recovering purchasing power of people, consumption will rise 2025 and probably 2026.

Just look at Venezuela and how more than 30 years of socialism in Brazil have damaged the country. Mercosur, which has been led by Brazil and Argentina, will be dead if Milei withdraws from the deal. US trade with Argentina could be so beneficial for both countries. US trading with a country with the same ideals and beliefs can for other countries to reconsider their current position. EU is full of old ideas and people that don’t take into consideration what their people really want and need. The EU has a purity problem. Argentina has made the difficult choices that are now giving them the opportunity to now invest in their own country and grow. Once that’s been achieved they can focus in their infrastructure. Bravo to Argentina

So yeah if in economics you stay with interanual numbers you're looking at prehistoric numbers. Btw wholesale inflation was 0.8%, oh I forgot you don't understand economics let me explain. Wholesale inflation predicts future retail inflation, so just so you don't get surprised later, inflation will keep going down.

Javier Milei, a very intelligent man! One can see this by his answers. Also the title of this interview is very misleading. It suggests that this possibility of the majority of what Milei speaks of, in addition to the fact that, while he did say that, he does not think it would be necessary. Is the title just click bait or a misleading of those who are in Mercosur? That is a question. Btw, Bloomberg is not the only YT channel that engages in such titles, I find it often - so stupid and so ridiculous. 🤦

Mercosur is currently one of the few factors that still grants some credibility to Argentina, mainly due to the presence of Brazil, the eighth-largest economy in the world. If Mercosur were to dissolve, Brazil would not be harmed, as it already attracts more foreign investment than all Latin American countries combined. But what about Argentina? Who would be willing to invest in a country with no significant foreign reserves, a poor credit history, and a staggering 55% of its population living below the poverty line?
Also, it’s worth noting that most of Argentina’s wheat is exported to Brazil. If Brazil decides to import from other countries offering more competitive prices, Argentina’s inflow of foreign currency would be severely impacted. The situation worsens when considering that countries like the United States have shown no interest in helping anyone, especially under leaders like Trump, who prioritize only American interests. Therefore, it is clear that Argentina leaving Mercosur would be disastrous for the country, further undermining its already fragile economy.

There was a reason Milton Friedman won the Nobel Prize in economics. Now, Milei is using what he learned to fix the problems in his countries. It is a great thing for his country, and I am glad to see the Argentina is recovering. "A rising tide lifts all boats," is a proverb expounded by many good economists. When a country does well, then its success is contagious to all the countries that trade fairly with them. This is the opposite of socialism, which drags down the standard of living all people to a shared misery.
