How about a simple start up video for the ubiquitous "Baofeng" 2M transceiver? These things are cheap but tough to get working. The few YT vids go 100 mph as if everyone ALREADY KNOWS these things front-to-back. You are a great communicator! I appreciate your bottom-line, no BS approach.
Like what a lot of people have said, this content is great and has both inspired me, and given me the courage, to mess with my Crosstrek to make it my own. Taking apart the interior isn’t as scary as it used to be, same with wiring and adding sweet lights! Haha! My latest project was a Diode Dynamics Hitch Pod and the hardest part was figure out the wiring and find the reverse wire but it’s so satisfying seeing all work on the first try. Maybe a trunk light is next since the stock light sucks. Keep up the good work!
I had a Baofeng UV something... (I got rid of it so long ago I forgot what model number it was.) Anyway , When I had the Baofeng I was talking to a HAM friend on 2 Meters I told him about the "Alarm" function. He said to try it. I did, The alarm went out over the 2 meter frequency.
Just wondering, do you use the crayons to do the math before you eat them? Sorry had to do it, that line about crayon eating made me laugh way too hard.
If your hair was dark and you had a swanky moustache I think you'd pass for Ron Swanson. j/k just wanna say thank you, I enjoy your content. subscribed.
Very cool to learn about your background and current career! Big fan of yours. I would have pegged you as an engineer. Keep it up and best luck for your LLC.
I bought a Yaesu FT-4X about a year ago, According to eHam it's obsolete. I'm with the 38% on the background music. Question: What are your views on the Chinese Diesel Heater fuel pump mounting angle? I look at it as the 45 degree and the horizontal positions may starve the top of the pumps piston of lubrication. I am currently changing my pump and I am planning to mount it vertically.
I forgot how much I like these episodes. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching :)
“Crayon eaters that can do math” 🤣🤣

Loved your explanation of your career and “what’s holding us all back!” 😂 Love your content!
Thanks much, I appreciate it :)
Now everytime I view one of your videos, I'll see Orsen Wells. It's like the arrow in the Fedex logo. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. "Rooosebud"
Thanks, Tom! I enjoy your content and dry humor. Dave (formerly from Rockford, IL now Chamberlain, SD). 73 de KA9NYN. Semper Fi, Marine.

Rad nunchucks man!
You remind me of Ross Martin from the old The Wild Wild West. He played Artemus Gordon.
Good chat. Glad I decided to watch. Enjoy yr channel.

Never used the alarm mode on my units.

I'll have to try an orange peel in my next Manhattan.
it's good! adds a nice flavor. Bonus tip, rub the orange on the rim of the glass :)
@@TomtheDilettante Thank you, took your advice, had a Manhattan last night. The orange peel added nice flavor.
USS Pain 741
Which is better and are tosdr dongle or the RSPdx or RSPduo ? Are they the same ? Thank you.

I thought you only did radio vids .
I think you look and sound a bit like Liev Schreiber. Not a bad thing. 🤓
I thought the same thing. Liev has narrated many documentaries because he also has a great voice. Unexplored career opportunity for Tom perhaps?

Like your channel but so little content.
How can I be surprised your a data analytics guy and at the same time it makes sense? One of us plays with petabyte storage systems . . .

I hope you do more videos on the SDR, also how is the camper top holding up since you repaired it?
Were you a comms guy in the USMC?
negative. helicopter mech :). Comms is just a practical hobby for me.
@@TomtheDilettante I was in comms in the Navy. I served with USMC comms guys onboard USS Iwo Jima and USS Guam in the early 90s.
