Thank you so much for going to depth with my question about Ottoni’s situation Weasle. I feel like this is one of the most important MMA stories in a way this year because the mma community as a whole doesn’t discuss enough about the fighters’ mental health as much as we do about their physical health. I really hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen in Ottoni and that he gets a better ending to his mma career

As not the biggest JBJ fan, I still think he absolutely wrecked all the juiced up OG’s. They were still wrecking everyone and he stopped a lot of them in their own game. GSP got smashed by Hendrix (he was def on the juice) It’s just what it means too. Who’s the better head to mount on the wall, ppl like Henry or Rampage? Same with khabib, he had like 4 hard fights in his unbeaten record. He should have gone up 100% in weight, then it would have been no question.
If you look at it unbiased, Jon, as big of a scumbag as he is, all controversy aside, has had a more impressive career than any other champ. The same argument can be made overrating Gsps legacy to an even greater effect, but because we actually LIKE GSP, we don't bother.
@@Juel92 Khabib 😂 Who did he fight? Like no one at the beginning. Almost got wrecked by Iaquinta. Lost to that other doood. Look he’s good, could have been the best but he stopped before we could really see. It’s unfortunate. JBJ resume 1000% better no question
@@Juel92 Not true at all. Khabib did not really fight anyone well rounded other than RDA and maybe few others. You can't compare his resume with Jon's.
I disagree with some of your points about Jones. Even though the majority of his fights were against so called middleweights I believe the skill level at the time is much better when compared with current 205ers. You just gotta look at 40 year old Glover beating Jan and winning against Jiri.
hes also ignoring the fact GSP got submitted in round 1 of a title fight by Matt Hughes and KOd by 5'5 Matt Serra in round 1 in a title fight in the middle of his prime. Jones has nowhere close to those blemishes. and yea Cormier, machida, shogun, Gus are waaay better than GSPs competition besides Matt Hughes who finished him in 2 minutes

Relatively most of these “inflated prime middleweights” were in their early 30s/still in their primes when Jon fought them. I believe also majority of those guys Jon faced were on gear. Jones fought TRT Vitor and even Chael admitted he was on sauce in an interview in their fight. Among other examples. He ran through that division. That DC win was massive in the first fight. And proved he was able to hang with the next generation of LHWs in the late 2010s. Something GSP ran from at MW and Khabib ran from a LW. The next generation. Jon is still here. Still getting it done at heavyweight now. I think if he beats Stipe and takes on the tom challenge. He’s undeniable with those wins.
@@BornFromEmbersabsolute nonsense. The top 10 of HW is a shark tank. You just don't have to always be that good to stay in the ufc. To actually be a top guy you do.
The jones take sounds like something you had to convince yourself of over years to believe. Go back and look at GSPs run. What truly great fighters did he beat? And how dominantly? I think you’d amend your beliefs as positively to GSP and as disfavorably to jones as possible
You are growing old man. Other than DJ, no one can compare with Jones in terms of skills. Thiago didn't have knees because Jon took them out. Jon dominated everyone before first Gus fight. GSP doesn't compare to JBJ in skills, neither striking nor wrestling.
@destano2951 Jon's competition is more skilled. He has beaten the previous generation, current generation and future generation fighters. While Volk and Max lost Jon has never lost a fight.
@destano2951 If you going to discredit Jon like that, the same can be done to Volk or Max to a greater effect. Your really comparing Calvin, Chan Sung, Justin to guys like DC (undefeated until he faced Jon), Rashad (Insane win streak until he faced Jon), Vitor (freak of nature).
Jon jones literally fought everybody and name a champion that finished everyone after 5 title defenses even gsp didn’t finish shields Josh koscheck Diaz condit or Hendricks and left when USADA came Aldo didn’t finish hamonick Mendez rematch. Silva last finish was Belfort Dj don’t count cuz nobody really cared for him until he left and he fought the same guys went up and went to suplex city. Jones came in at the right time and was crazy outside the ring
Dude, putting Aldo above Jon Jones is absolutely ridiculous. Don't give me wrong, I'm a fan of Aldo, but who did he beat? TKZ? Frankie Edgar? Faber? These are the best fighter he beat. Jon Jones beat Daniel Cormier, who is one of the goats, as well as multiple world champions. Beating Glover Texeira, Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson and Shogun Rua is better that beating Urijah Fiber and TKZ. Not to mention that Jose Aldo has lost multiple times and didn't beat anyone GOAT status and he even lost in his prime early 30s. One of the worst takes I've ever heard. As a hardcore, I did not expect that bad of a take from you. ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS. Jose Aldo is one of my favorite fighters but you overrated him waaaay too much.

Most of his title defenses were people who fought at middleweight. Fights in general no. One of the dirtiest fighters in MMA as well. So Jones is a bully essentially; also uses(d) steroids. Making any accomplishment null and void.

I think Islam is one or two fights away from it if look at the resume. Volk twice, oliveira, poirier are better wins than rampage, rashad and arguably DC. But I think topuria's wins over max and volk are better than any win Jones has

Machida's best wins -shogun -rashad -randy couture - Dan Henderson -BJ penn Dustin's best wins -max 2x -conor 2x -Eddie alvarez -justin gaethje -anthony pettis I mean beating max Holloway twice is insane alone
You’re crazy! Masvidal’s Darren till win was a great win. Darren’s record is underrated af. He had a super competitive fight with the current champion, DDP.
how come it seems LOSSES don’t matter when it comes to GOAT talk. he says Aldo might be above Jones but Also has 9 Losses, granted it was probably after his prime but it’s the fighter choice to continue fighting and if that messes up their legacy then so be it. and even RDA being a top 5 Lightweight ?, he has 17 losses granted some as a welterweight, but when does longevity outweigh losses??
Such a weak take. Everyone is being so big on Tom, who is going after a guy about to retire? Super impressive? And to dismiss Jon beating Rampage, Lyoto, Rashad who were killers when Jon fought them.
About to retire? Jon Jones is currently (at age 37) just slightly older than the majority of his biggest career fights (Rampage 33, Machida 33, Belfort 35, Sonnen 36, Glover 34, DC 35, St. Preux 33, Stipe 42). Taken as an average, Bones was 6 years younger, 2 inches taller, and had an 8 inch reach advantage over all his opponents... no wonder he was terrified of Ngannou, who was almost exactly the same in all counts. The thing that people dont like is that Jon enjoyed these massive advantages over all these fighters but cant bring himself to provide a different up-and-comer with a similar advantage (in terms of age at least)... and its not as though Aspinall is even that young, hes 31 ffs
Ye dude a pole rider because it’s been a hot take to hate on Jon jones as if the whole fight industry not on juice literally every combat sports, then they talk about an arrest as if most the greats haven’t been to prison for worse 😂😂😂
Many guys did that already like Islam’s insane 14 fight win streak ongoing run where he beat Charles, Volk, Volk 2, Dustin back to back He also beat Arman and Hooker
@keyboardwarrior6591 yes many guys did that already and many guys still will it's mma it's not going to stop what are you trying to say that every fighter should publicly express terror from these guys Islam has been kod before illia hasn't as well as standing with some of the heaviest hitters in the division the Josh emmette performance and max Holloway alone should explain if Islam fought either of those guys he'd get kod if he never shoots a takedown
Jon Jones in my opinion should still be considered the goat. You mention his wins against older fighters such as Rampage and Lyoto, however Jones was extremely young in comparison to them. With the youngest champion nowadays being Topuria at 27, Jones was beating these "older" legends at 24, 25, 26 consistently and dominantly. Like for a fighter like Jones, to win the title off of Shogun at 23 years old, and essentially destroying him, this should be considered. Sure there's always going to be a discrepancy due to size and reach advantage as well as the fact that it is a higher weight class. But after that, consistently beating people in his generation and those after despite yes he did lose the Dominic Reyes fight. Even still, submitting Ciryl Gane at heavyweight in the first round is something that in my opinion isn't talked about enough due to the obvious fact that he is ducking Tom Aspinall. Sure for Jones right now, he's obviously ducking Aspinall and I think Aspinall would whoop his ass, but considering all of his accomplishments beforehand, I still think he has the best case. Weasle, I hope you read my comment and reply to give me your opinion.
@theweasle hey who are you to say that reyes beat jones.....in what universe? in your universe maybe but not on earth with qualified and licensed judges...... that's not how things work... we don't just annoint ourselves as judges and say this person won...... we have licensed judges that decide who won the fight this is the system we've accepted and follow... if your man dominic reyes can't finish his opponent who was jon jones you don't go around saying he that he won the fight ? under who's authority are you appointed to do this.... thousands of people saw the jones vs reyes fight and i can guarantee that we all saw the fight differently... i saw jones walking down reyes the whole fight....i don't know what you saw...i saw jones take reyes best shot and yet jones still continued to walk him down so what are you talking about? but we all saw the fight differently. but your eyes won't lie....i challenge anyone to go watch the fight again and notice that jones is walking down reyes the whole fight....... but even so we'll all have our own interpretation/understanding of what's going on in that fight. The judges are the ones with the license and authority to decide what the record books show. They chose jones so let it rest. close fights or decision fights are part of the sport.....if you can't finish your opponent than live with it and go back to the drawing board... Quit trying to take away jon jones victory or any other fighter that wins a close fight because of being a hater. dominic reyes is going to fight anthony smith next....but reyes should really be rematching volkan oezdamir. that was a decision fight that went in reyes favour but there is no forever debate on who really won that match for some reason..... reyes was one fight away from being released....dana white fed reyes dustin jacoby out of pity....and he's feeding him anthony smith next a fighter close to retiring, frankly he's a journeyman..... if reyes can't finish smith or dominate him than my advice to you is get off of his jock.

5:40 I feel like Takedowns vs Takedown defense is similar to good defense but better offense in the NBA. We’ve seen guys like Whittaker, Usman, and Aldo with elite defense still lose to good grapplers because consistently testing that defense will cause it to fail at some point.
Jones ended all of his opponents momentum. All of them died after him. Don't discard that. They only looked good after in his absence. That's why he's the best. His opponents didn't have the will inside to become something more, because they knew they lost to the best. So a title run wasn't possible after. You're forgetting how devastating that was and how he became so feared.
You start using chewin tobacco and youll sound 100% like Jesse Ventura, you had his cadence down perfect It just needed a little gravel in the voice at the end of sentences Lol

These are two entirely different scenarios.
Dude I’ve been saying this for years that most of his title defenses were against bloated, aging middleweights from pride, who were past their prime, even if slightly, and that’s not taking into account the number of years he has probably been taking PED’s because as soon as he fought people who were his size, give or take, he beat them way less convincingly, if at all. And ironically with all the PED’s, Jones doesn’t have a single KO on his record… in fact, I’m not even sure if he ever even knocked anyone down with his hands, which is crazy to think about considering his number of failed PED tests…

Weasle, I hope you read my comment and reply to give me your opinion.

but we all saw the fight differently. but your eyes won't lie....i challenge anyone to go watch the fight again and notice that jones is walking down reyes the whole fight....... but even so we'll all have our own interpretation/understanding of what's going on in that fight.
The judges are the ones with the license and authority to decide what the record books show. They chose jones so let it rest.

Jones beat middleweights but GSP got KO'd by lightweights and he's better for it, your logic makes no sense
Yea he's biased and way overrating Gsp while discrediting Jon.
JON BONES JONES is the best fighter of all Time.
Tell me one fighter who would beat him in his prime...
He would beat them all...
Nobody could beat and you know that.
Stipe, Werdum, Overeem, Fedor, Velasquez, all in their primes could absolutely beat Jones in his prime. Jones can beat middleweights cutting little weight. Jones couldn’t make middleweight to save his life but could beat them at 205. Not impressive.
Not sure how you can critique Jones opponents and near losses and praise GSP calling him the GOAT when GSP literally lost to Matt Serra, Matt Hughes, realistically lost to Hendricks, Cherry picked Bisping for his belt then avoided Whittaker, who’s even GSP’s best win really? Nick Diaz? Dan Hardy? Mayhem Miller? Lmao it’s hilarious how people criticize Jones but GSP’s legacy is much more sus than Jones people just hate Jones
Diego is as impatient waiting for title shots as he is waiting for shots when he's fighting lmao
i get jones is ducking aspinall, but 13 title defenses and undefeated is definitely not overrated lol
dude has 4x khabibs title defenses
DC is better than any of Khabibs win Mr i value competition now is retracting and saying Jones is overrated lol
Steroids. Lost to Dom.
@@Treyski4410 Poirier has a better resume than dc
Bias does alot. I like weasel but it's clear he just doesn't like jon which is fine. Also I'm not sure if khabib beat Gleason just based on scoring criteria. Khabib got taken down once and didn't land a single td of his own. Also got outstruck on volume and significant strikes
I would to if I took the amount of castration level roids as Jones.
5:40 I feel like Takedowns vs Takedown defense is similar to good defense but better offense in the NBA. We’ve seen guys like Whittaker, Usman, and Aldo with elite defense still lose to good grapplers because consistently testing that defense will cause it to fail at some point.
As someone from outside the US, the election in mma terms was fantastic and very helpful! Thank you political commentator Weasel 🫡
This is the funniest Weasel I’ve ever heard 😂
Jon Jones is the Goat
Jones ended all of his opponents momentum. All of them died after him. Don't discard that. They only looked good after in his absence. That's why he's the best. His opponents didn't have the will inside to become something more, because they knew they lost to the best. So a title run wasn't possible after. You're forgetting how devastating that was and how he became so feared.
You start using chewin tobacco and youll sound 100% like Jesse Ventura, you had his cadence down perfect It just needed a little gravel in the voice at the end of sentences Lol
We need you on the commentary for these debates, man. Yes😅😂
So your argument for Jon Jones being overrated is his level of competition but your goat of the sport is GSP 💀 whose best win is… Matt Hughes… who he lost to before beating him… who also lost to MATT SERRA and JOHNNY HENDRICKS… who was making title defenses against fighters like Fitch, Alves, Hardy, Koshcheck, Shields… sometimes I question your MMA knowledge and notice you just regurgitate popular twitter talking points among chronically online fans who just want to be different. Saying GSP, DJ, and Aldo are above Jones is just a terrible take.
Jones is overrated; and took steroids therefore disqualifying him from goat status.
@@teamfingahs4907USADA acquitted him and GSP only had 1 fight under USADA testing, he was very obviously on steroids if you know anything about gear.
Win-Loss Record of GSP's opponents: 494-71
Win-Loss Record of Jon Jone's opponents: 417-171
Take away name value from Jon's resume and it falls apart in comparison (not to mention age and size discrepancies).
If you look at it unbiased, Jon, as big of a scumbag as he is, all controversy aside, has had a more impressive career than any other champ.
The same argument can be made overrating Gsps legacy to an even greater effect, but because we actually LIKE GSP, we don't bother.
I don’t know how you can put khabib over Jon jones khabib a last 5 opponents were the only ones of name value and are actual champs the rest where fkn no names.
Texeira-Pereira is a great duo too
The constant hating on Jon Jones is fucking disgusting man!
Jon Jones is disgusting
@Bryan-gy3gu Couldn't give a rats ass about what he is as a person, only care about about him as a fighter
Glazing a wife beater who crashes into pregnant women is disgusting, you absolute bum.
So is beating your wife
well, he aint no GOAT.....Mid hasbeen at best
"predictions are always unpredictable" the GOAT of quotes 😅😂
Keep haiting on Jones
Why
So dumb, changing the goal posts constantly.
Islam failed for meldonium and got cleared just like Jon got cleared, yet Jon can’t be goat cause he failed a test but Islam can 🤨 just dumb
@@scholesy9786 well makachev had an operation for his heart and the commission spoke up for him, man even got a belt for the passing his tests. Also it wasn't even banned at the time makachev was prescribed genius, it got banned only a few months after.
@@WeAreGhuraba, if that's the case, then why was Khabib's cousin from the same gym, Usman Nurmagomedov, banned for six months for testing positive?
@@scholesy9786 "Changing the goal posts constantly?" What are you talking about? For several years, Weasel has always remained consistent regarding his opinion on Jon Jones. Also, Islam's situation was very different. He was cleared because the substance he was taking was related to a surgical procedure he had undergone, AND it wasn't on the 'banned substance' list at the time he took it. Jones, on the other hand, failed multiple tests for multiple fights and certainly wasn't always cleared... to the point he even had a championship win overturned and his belt stripped for pissing hot. These are two entirely different scenarios.
Yo weasle that Jesse Ventura is too fucking good 😂😂
Dude I’ve been saying this for years that most of his title defenses were against bloated, aging middleweights from pride, who were past their prime, even if slightly, and that’s not taking into account the number of years he has probably been taking PED’s because as soon as he fought people who were his size, give or take, he beat them way less convincingly, if at all. And ironically with all the PED’s, Jones doesn’t have a single KO on his record… in fact, I’m not even sure if he ever even knocked anyone down with his hands, which is crazy to think about considering his number of failed PED tests…
Power starts from the legs, perhaps that’s why 🥢 He did seem to KD Machida but it may have been a slip
If you look at it unbiased, Jon, as big of a scumbag as he is, all controversy aside, has had a more impressive career than any other champ.
The same argument can be made overrating Gsps legacy to an even greater effect, but because we actually LIKE GSP, we don't bother.
Weasel has jokes🤣 this guy is goated
if you're gonna say that "Jones should have lost" against Reyes, then you gotta say GSP should have lost against Hendricks. Then there's a lot of "didn't dominate" or "almost lost" in your assessment of Jones when GSP actually lost twice come on now. The only way Jones isn't the GOAT is if you disqualify him for PEDs, which you're not doing here
So is he the goat due to sheer volume of wins
Yea he never downplays Gsp like he does Jon. He doesn't mention the fact that Gsp got his title shot much earlier in his career and also got submitted in the first round.
