Kinda surprised by not few people commented pessimistically on KS. Personally, I think KS is the best replacement for KD. She rocks! RIP KS. Love you KD.

They kind of said they changed bassist for that exact reason. I think the last straw was when she stage dived at the end of the show in her hometown of Los Angeles. When asked about it Frank said something along the lines of "sometimes you just don't get along, you know"
She's dead now, poor thing. Really good musician.
Pixies don't bust rock moves. They just make great rock noises.
Great guitarist but damn he's bloody miserable and lifeless on stage

Probably the most awkward band of all time. They have such weird personal relations, and it shows on stage.
Meanwhile, they also very clearly are one of the finest rock bands of all time. And that shows as well.

Kim Shattuck fitted perfectly. But not in Frank's book. Bit shitty, really, the way she was ejected.

Kim Deal can't be replaced, but Kim Shattuck was the best possible replacement - she's a tornado like the old Kim. Previously in The Pandoras (she was 16 years old, now she's 55!!!), and since 1991 in The Muffs (she still plays with the same punk mates since 30 years), full of energy and charisma. But Pixies are fat asses. Love them, great music but fat asses. No surprise both Kims were sacked.
Kim Deal wasn't sacked, she left because she wanted to. Kim Shattuck was booted cuz she was stage diving and stuff. I liked both Kims but you're kind of acting like it's entirely the band's fault when it's not.
What a load of fatuous nonsense. As has already been pointed out, Kim Deal was not sacked. And Kim S broke a fundamental Pixies rule. Mosh, Don't Pass the Guy. I have nothing against Kim S but Paz is a far better fit.
Surely Kim S only signed up on a temporary basis, I believe she was a friend of Charles’s from the late 80s/early90s; just doing a mate a favour for a few months following Kim D’s abrupt departure.

Love Pixies, but they are nothing without Kim. You don't just replace her just like you can't swap out Joey.
