You crash harder on heavy ebikes. Knee, shin pads and long sleeves for whipping plants. Good padded gloves.

Giro Switchblade, poly-carbonate eye protection, mesh body armour, gloves and knee pads (to supplement the shorts and jersey). Had enough stitches in A & E for a while.

Chris .. you say you broke your back and ankle when fully armoured up .....fuck ...what would it of been like with out armour ...Yes it is restrictive but it’s a life saver when things go wrong.....There’s a lot of riders out there with life changing injuries....

I like the face protector style tube scarves around my neck when it’s cold.... you can keep the outer layer to a minimum and not overheat while keeping the cold breeze from getting down your neck.

I’m trying to remember life before those tube style scarves. They’re a game changer for winter biking...

To answer Ian Skinner, As a spec wearer, I wear Guard-Dogs Evader II googles. They have FogStpper in their name and don't mist up when you are moving. I bought them to keep brambles and the like on bridleways out of my eyes. I also think they keep hayfever at bay.I also like to wearr long sleeves in summer also to protect from brambles etc. Endura An MT500 Long Sleeve Cycling Jersey works for me - cool and confortable.

Warm: I use a detachable chin bar full face, goggles and then a long sleeve T-shirt and joggers.
Cold: Same but with extra layers like a jacket or a skin or water proof trousers.

Hi there, great news about the extra battery for Rocky Mountain Powerplay bikes.....Awesome news.....I ride and Instinct A70 Powerplay and average about 100kms per full charge, this will definitely allow much longer runs......The integral Battery was really the only down side to the Rocky Mountain EBike.....

I use UVEX safety glasses which you can swap colored lenses in/out
Soccer shin guards because those pedal pins leave MARKS!
Carry leather gloves for the odd Blackberry infested/overgrown trail of which we have many this year on the leftist coast of Canazuela.
I double up on padded shorts and light hikers for footwear
Started wearing supportive knee 'braces' which offer some protection.
I will wear full leg protection on serious technical trails
    Copper wrist bands.

Full face for solo riding, open face if I'm riding with people, purely because it's just harder to hear and be heard with a full face when talking.

Standard half helmet , though I've smashed my face hard on rocks. Gloves for better grip and fall protection. Rarely knee and elbow protection, but sometimes. Compression sleeves are essential to protect from harsh sun and elements, though it helps some in falls and sharp plants along the trail... Also has a cooling effect when doused with water. Handy neck tube for hot and cold and bandana with liquid absorbing crystals to keep sweat out of my eyes. Wind deflecting safety prescription glasses with light changing lenses. Shorts or pants without seat catching crotch. Padded or chamois undies for long rides.

  • @IchimokuCloud

Use the Bell Super Air MIPS hybrid helmut with either glasses or Oakley MX goggles. Goggles work better in late afternoon to avoid glare and keep stuff out of my eyes but are a little hotter. Usually don't wear protection but always wear long sleeves and long athletic type pants to keep from getting scratched and cut by branches. Always use gloves for same reason, and choose type that allow touch screen. Using trail running shoes because they have a good grip, water resistant, and tough. Located on Maui, Hawaii, temp is between 23-34 C year round, not much rain on the trails I ride, but lots of tall grass, hard branch trees, sand, dust, rocks, ruts.

No gloves is a huge no no. The first thing to go down is the hands. Having taken all the skin off my hands and forearms and getting subsequent blood poisoning on one occasion, I'd never ride without them. I've also had a pretty horrific face plant on gravel so I also wear a hybrid full face Met Parachute which feels light and has great visibility.

While riding I definitely prefer the open face helmet better more wider open freedom field of view, only wear sunglasses, but on dark days or forest 🌳 rides wear with clear lenses. Prefer long pants, don’t like the restriction with knee or elbow pads. And prefer my light weight trainers. Have a water bottle on my frame don’t like anything on my back I love the FREEDOM.
IN HOT WEATHER I will ride in my shorts. I wear lightweight wind proof long sleeve top all the time.
Nearly always ride with gloves. In summer my gloves have vents. Winter definitely need some thermal gloves to keep those hands as warm as you can! I get white finger while riding my motorcycles so need the best winter weather gloves!
Any recommendations? Let me know the best for warmth?

I discovered compression socks recently, I suffer with sore tendons/ligaments in my legs and they've reduce that significantly. I also like those Lycra arm sleeves as protection against nettles/sun burn, They've been repurposed as a scarf to keep the sun off my neck or the chill out.
For glasses cheap flexible screwfix safeties. I keep clear and tinted in my bag at £2 meh if you loose'em, give'em away or damage'em.
I was thinking about a mosquito hood because of the clouds critters we sometimes get

I live in the north of Spain, in a region with a climate very similar to south of England. I wear knee and elbow pads, shocks and underwear with protection and helmet with removable chinguard and full face googles. I carry my armour vest on the handlebar with voilé straps and put in on for the descents. Also i wear gloves with protection. I am a beginner and this protection saved me from injuries that would have left me the sport. Not for their gravity but for pain and insecurity. Most times I fall is for losing balance when I go too slow in a difficult passage. So I think your sceptical speech about the use of protection is not the best in a tough Sport. I compare enduro with ski for the downhill feeling but it is more tough and less accesible. So protections are the thing that make it seems to fall on snow.

You prioritise knee pads for strong reasons, not because "you might as well protect your whole body if you wear knee pads". That was a dumb comment. If your knee pads are too bulky, buy tube ones like Fox make.

I just bought a Troy Lee stage helmet - coming from motorbikes to bicycles these open faced helmets just felt... well, like not wearing a helmet at all to be honest :P Can easily hit 40-50kph on sketchy decents in the forest, and I'm sure my face won't like hitting the ground / a tree at that speed. Transitioning to fully legal e-bikes after this season so I no longer need to care that I look like a motocross rider with a full face ;)

I’ve a POC Coran - same as the FF’s they use on the channel - it’s vented but if summer arrives..........it’ll be too sweaty - seriously looking into a Troy Lee stage as a upgrade to my open face TL A1 - seems to be the best vented FF out there - FF saved me a couple of times in past when I’ve pushed it - look after your head - Conversely POC works great in the depth of winter up on the moors/hills in the filthy weather
