Oh dear, I love Alan, though he told a few half truths in this interview. He was very evasive and danced around the truth in this interview. He may have had a 'smoke' before the interview. They were called The Paladins (1962-1963) The Spectres (1963-1967) Traffic, then Traffic Jam for a short period in (1967) Then it was The Status Quo until they dropped The out of the name and they changed their name to STATUS QUO in August 1967, just after Rick Parfitt joined. Alan had already left Status Quo by 1984, it was an acrimonious split as well. The Tour of Japan, USA and Australia never happened. Alan returned to play at LIVE AID in 1985 and the Reunion gigs in 2013/2014. The court case allowed Rossi and Parfitt to keep the Band's name and they continued on with Rhino Edwards and Jeff Rich who had been recording on an unreleased Rick Parfitt album. Andy Bown had already been in the Band for many years. Both Rhino and Andy play with Francis Rossi to this day........ Alan went on to play in The Lancaster Bombers, The Lancaster/Brewster Band and The Party Boys in Australia. RIP - Alan Lancaster one of the most genuine Rockers of all time. RIP - Rick Parfitt the greatest Rhythm Guitarist of all time.
Alan lancaster....the most solid bassplayer quo ever had, pumping energy he trained hard to play like this.... 1974 quo album he wrote most of the songs of the album 5 or 6. Also their rocker someone's learning, really me gotta go home or is there a better way....an amazing stuff and legendary as well...rib alan
they were the "originals " but then ,the original , originals got back together.....so they were the "new originals " but they got confusing ......so hence, quo
"Actually, we were known as the Originals. But then we found out there was another band called the Originals, and so we had to change our name to the New Originals. Then the original Originals broke up and we thought about changing our name back to the Originals, but decided not to. However, some of the original Originals got back together and asked us to change our name back to the Originals because they wanted to be the New Originals... and then it got really confusing."
He wanted to keep playing with Quo but Rossi and Parfitt took over the decision making and direction of the band towards the tepid pop rock direction. Rossi sabotaged the hard rock energy. They should of got harder in the 80's.
Bless him, he was in complete denial. Quo were much worse off without him. RIP Bomber
The nicest and most genuine guy of quo’s history!
Without doubt👍😀
Nope, that would be Rick. Even according to Rick, Alan was far from nice
