  • Strömstad, often called Sweden’s most westerly outpost, has a fascinating history. Some key points:
Foundation: Strömstad was founded in the 1500s near the mouth of the river Strömsån, initially known as “Strömmen.” Timber transportation along the river played a crucial role in its early development.
Swedish Acquisition: After the Treaty of Roskilde in 1658, Strömstad became part of Sweden, transitioning from Norwegian to Swedish territory.
Merchant Town: In 1667, Strömmen was granted merchant town status, and soon after, it received a town charter. The Swedish Government aimed to establish a trading place in northern Bohuslän and fortify it for defense.
Kosterhavet National Park: Strömstad is home to Sweden’s first marine national park, Kosterhavet, which opened in 2009.
Sea-Bathing and Spa Destination: In the mid-19th century, Strömstad gained popularity as a sea-bathing and spa destination.

Hello! Glad you liked the video. It was filmed 3. of August and uploaded the same day. A nice summer's day for making a video. Summers in the south of Norway and in Sweden are about the same as in the UK I believe.
