It was already too late. Janos might have survived if had just cried 'mercy' as soon a he was bent over the block, but the crying was too much, and was an embarrassment so he had to go.
The smile Janos gives as he looks around. Like he really thought he did something there and that he was a straight up chad 😂 then he pissed himself when he realised what he’d done.
Janos Slynt's refusal is pretty funny to me. He was being given a job where he would largely unsupervised, in charge of his own men, with his own fort, that he could decorate as he saw fit. It was a genuinely important job, and he refused it, because he couldn't see how good that position was for him.
It was an important job but Jon was sending him there in the hopes that he'd die. It was an abandoned ruin of a castle that was left vacated over 200 years prior. It was also located at a section of the wall that had a massive dip going downwards (the wildlings used this section to breach the walls) which meant that Janos and his men would be most likely to be killed first if the white walkers breach the walls, they'd do it from Greyguard. However, Janos was too stupid to realize that Jon was giving him a commanding/leadership position with his own castle where he'd answer to no one other than occasional demands from his lord commander that would be pretty far away from him. Janos seemed capable of performing the task he was asked to do, but he probably would have started a rebellion if he had actually taken the offer, or he'd have refused direct orders from Jon at a later date which would compromise the safety of the nights watch. Jon still sends men there after he beheads Janos so someone had to go regardless. Janos was a threat, his stupidity got him killed and rightfully so. In the books, Jon takes his insults and lets Janos get a nights rest to reconsider. Not sure if he did that in the show or not, but Janos still refused in the morning which led to his execution.
I wish they did this the way it was done in the books. Jon says “take him outside and hang him” then when outside about to hang Slynt Jon tells them to stop. Slynt thinks its just a show and that Jons too scared to kill him because of his “friends in kings landing” and Slynt starts sneering at Jon and saying he knew he didn’t have the balls to kill lord janos Slynt. Then Jon shouts “bring me my sword” and Slynt shits himself again then gets the chop. Jon realised he had sentenced a man to death but by hanging and he remembers the words of Ned Stark (who he thinks was his father) “The man that gives the sentence should swing the sword” and tells his men to stop….(pauses for slynt to say his bit)…then “bring my sword”. It would have maybe ten extra seconds to put it in. Not even 10 seconds.
When Janis begged for mercy, I believe Jon would have given him mercy. Then Janis went on to say he was a coward and Jon isn’t having any cowards on his watch!
I wish the entire show was just Jon Snow and Castle Black against the undead. The other stories were awesome, too, but the Jon Snow arc was just 🤌* chef's kiss *

I don’t think that Ser Allistair was a “bad guy” at all, even after he killed Jon. He took up an oath, and he upheld that oath. Jon broke his oath in multiple ways. Jon questioned his every decision and thought of himself as superior because of his upbringing, but on the Wall, everyone is equal unless you’re in charge.

Ser Allister was true to his word. Not opposing, nor letting anyone oppose the commander was essential in his eyes to maintain command.
He was too arrogant to know that the laws of men stop at the wall and underestimate his lord commander now he's a head shorter and better for it
He didnt disrespect John Snow, he disrespected the position John Snow was in.
He disrespected both.
Calling him a bastard is disrespect towards him
Ser Allister: Finally some fockin balls
I always had a strong suspicion that Lord Janos in fact did not have important friends at court.
Vice chamberlain in charge of closet space. Lord of the flight line. That sort of thing.
It’s all fun and games until you disobey lord commander’s order
Ser Allister be like: F*ck that, i just got promoted
His mouth wrote a ticket his life has to pay
He though Thorne would defend him but Thorne was smiling cuz he knew Jon would have to do it.
When Ser Allister looks at Janos: “You done messed up, A-A-Ron!”
I love how he peddled that “I’ve got friends at court” line all the way to the end
“Edd, fetch me a block”. One of the few scenes done right.
Subtitles: "IF THE BOY THINK HE CAN FRIGHTEN ME, SHE'S MISTAKEN!"
gender fluid
Turns out having important friends means nothing
Having important friends is VERY important to get AHEAD in life. 😏

This scene never gets old. Love it!
With my Katt Williams voice: "Well you shouldn't have been talking shit!"
That look Janos gives Allister is almost sad, the shock and betrayal in his eyes
Then while his head is on the block he begs for his life and admits to being scared..
And that was the last anyone saw of Ol' Janos.
"House Slynt?"
"We have friends at court!"
"A common saying but not their official motto."

The second the phrase "i have friends" comes out your mouth, you've lost.
I would've lost my head too for laughing uncontrollably when he said it tho.
Best part of this is Janos looking up at Alistair like "father why have you betrayed me".
My favorite scene from the books was when he lopped Slynt's head off.
This is such a great scene. One of my favorites.
At that point, i was surprised this guy even survived that long in this show.
This is the part where Jon became Heisenberg
Sadly, the rest of the two and half seasons, all Jon is good at is sulking and declaring his loyalty for his queen
Read the books. Much better and nothing like the show
He was undead! A zombie really.
Imagine he could have taken the job and grown discontent against Jon Snow, even gotten his friends in King's Landing to send him resources to take over the wall as Lord Commander and trapped the North in a pincer making him indispensable and powerful.
He made Jon snow so happy when he said that. 😂

oooooh that look that Ser Allister gives Slynt is toooo good. like "oh you're fucked buddy"
Allister looked at John saying with his eyes...
"Here's you first big test bastard"
And John passed it with flying colors.
Janos “I have friends at court” Slynt
I don’t think Slynt gets that if your sent to the wall, you definitely don’t have important ‘friends’ at court 😂
Slynt just lost his head for a moment and now he doesn't own a pumpkin.
That’s - way to handle insubordination.
When your tongue kills ya
I wish they would've kept the much more badass and iconic line from the book - "Edd, fetch me a block."
“I’m afraid, I’ve always been afraid…”
Janos lost his smug smirk pretty quick
It seems that "friends in court" were the GoT equivalent of "friends" on Facebook.
It was at moment, he knew... he fucked up.
Alexi Sayle didn't know what hit him 🤣
Janos is the only one who thinks it's a game even after the tree stump has been set up
When calling 📞 the Lord Commanders bluff goes wrong, and your call is a disconnected neck
Funny how he still thinks he has „friends“ at court even after Tyrion told him he don’t
Lord Janos had some "memory loss about who's the BOSS"...
Like how many times has Janos been taken away screaming that he has important friends in the capital 😂😂
He said oh you wanna talk shit?
This is what I call a radical resignation.
Legends say his friends at court are still planning their revenge to this day
Jon was like "bring me his head"
Thus is the end of Janos "I have friends at the court" Slynt.
Most satisfying end than Joffrey's 100p
Did he think he could refuse an order and not get seized?
When, "i wish you would" turns into "Oh, no, he didn't!"
Personally I think he's afraid, I think he's always been afraid... 😂😂
Important friends that couldn't save you 😂 😂
That moment in time when you have thought you had friends that would always have your back, but are only looking for themselves....
More like men who knew who the real leader was and who was truly for the people not for themselves. The fact he would once again defy an order showed he followed nor cared for any man other than himself.
Janos thought ser allister had his back
Ser Allister : oh go ahead and teach his ass a lesson 😂
Frankly, when I saw this scene, I lost control. I was running around like a headless chicken.

Then when Jon says, 'Ollie bring me my sword,' the smile disappears and Janos looks confused, like 'why does this guy need a sword? No, wait...no one said anything about swords...'
Classic example of fuck around and find out.
This was so satisfying to watch
The only thing that relieved Jon himself from his Nighwatcher Oath was in fact his own murder and death.
His father taught him well.
Janos finally and truly understood.... He HAD no "friends at court".
This truly shows how self interest is dominant in all men regardless race, religion, etc
