      I think most, if not all RUclipsrs plagerise in the beginning. They always take or steal ideas.
      I mean, how many times you've watched a critique of a game and days later u get recomended another video on the same topic from another one?
      My point is: this is how they start, they take inspiration, steal, copy paste content from multiple successful videos, and with time, over the years, I believe they truly develop they're own style and spin on the topics as they grow more confident.
      While I don't always agree with his opinions, I think Luke Stephans today is a totally different person than what he was 6 years ago. And I do think he has strong independent opinions.

      as a person who uses microphones on drumkits, vocals, acoustic guitars, pianos, i can say, with a certain (relatively low amount of) authority on the subject, the blue yeti is perfectly acceptable mic for its price. if you want to record for youtube, whether vocal audio or an acoustic instrument, the yeti is going to deliver, youtube is gonna compress the audio anyway. My only recommendation if your option is a Yeti is to look a little cheaper. Blue is basically the name brand for USB microphones, so they overcharge. Look at Samson or other brands that are cheaper but can deliver the same quality. DONT cheap out on a Blue Snowball or Blue Ice, those are actual dog trash. Using an XLR Mic is the next level. Either youve done youtube for a year or so and have the ability to upgrade, or youre looking to do more professional voice acting or recording for a band, thats when you take the leap towards an XLR connection.

I'd like to say things were learned but it seems his skills at reading the winds of internet media still far eclipse any actual creative ones.

Yet entirely and completely take every single bit from elsewhere, or just be completely objectively wrong. @@bloodmachine6049 I've only ever seen the infamous Bloodborne video (And to his credit then, that was before I knew Hbomb existed.) But even still it was so in-line with the decades long fanboy yawping of how special FROM game's were back then it struck me as utterly bland and unspecial of the time, and that was before knowing how thoroughly he plagiarized.
      "Bloodborne was cool because no shields" This meme wasn't original, it was in people's heads since the first of the e3 trailers. It was passed around as shorthand for how much more hardcore it was going to be over Dark Souls or something.
      Luke just took the ideas with mass appeal like that and ran with them, inserting his own vapid praise for the game between segments.
      Hbmob uses it in his video as a jumping off point to how DS and BB informed gameplay differently.
      In retrospect, it would be obvious where to draw the line between other''s takes and his own happy little anecdotes if for how detached they were from what he was actually talking about. He probably didn't have enough critical or editing know how to make a smoother transition between idea and just glued them together that way.
      I wouldn't be at all surprised if his interest in games as mechanics exists solely to affect an air of someone who knows what he's talking about on the internet. I hear he's grown pretty toxic in recent years, but it's really kind of pathetic when you put it all in perspective.

    When you're showing clips of videos, it'd be really helpful if you indicated that with titles. It was confusing at times trying to figure which was WeeGee and which was Soul.
    It's especially confusing at first when you're showing clips of your own vids and trying to figure out that it's not you making THIS video but showing your past work.

    This was recommended to me after watching your latest video, Plagiarism and You(Tube). I hadn't seen this one before, as I wasn't familiar with you when you posted it six years or an estimated four hbomberguy videos ago, but I'm very glad to have the added context now.
    It's a bit disheartening that some observations you make in this about RUclips trends and plagiarism of style, ideas, and content remain so relevant, but I'm also glad that you continue to bring attention to it now. I hope that some creators out there have actually taken these messages to heart and made an effort to improve. Even if they may do so simply because they now recognize the potential backlash they could receive if they continue shameless copying of others' work, it does open up the door for more original and inspired work, and might even result in some people finding their own voice when they otherwise might not have. So thanks, Harry.

I didn't even use a voice recording app, I used the video app and filmed the darkness while I spoke.
      Usually ANY voiceover work would be through my ZOOM H2N, but trying this out, the quality was good. I wouldn't use a phone to record lyrics for a song, but for basic voiceover? It doesn't sound bad to me. I sound clear enough, the white noise is very very quiet and the Bass-Treble range doesn't sound compressed.

    • @rainbowkittycat627

      @@MrSomnix it’s not an entry level set up, you can get a cheap audio interface from behringer for 50$ and a cheap better quality mic set up for 50$, which is about the same price as the blue yeti. Blue microphones definitely aren’t worth the value in 2022, they aren’t that good and overpriced, but they aren’t bad either. The set up they were talking about was no-means entry level, the sm7b is like a mic goal for me and a lot of my friends lol.

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz Год назад +1

      I actually can't stand the SM7, it just tends to sound congested to me. Is it just me, am i wrong? I would pick a $25 Superlux Pra any day. Added to the bad tone, SM7 is not exactly cheap (though the whole category of broadcast microphones has elevated prices; but an RE20 at least doesn't sound bad) and a little difficult to run with low output level. I think it's a massive viral disease that everyone is buying them.
      Yeti is not very objectionable, but at best it's a slightly worse AT2020 with 3 extra modes which don't sound right. I think it was a little bit of a disease as well.

    Maybe he uses some kind of weak-ass "ideas are made to be free" argument where nothing on the internet is plagiarism unless you literally just repost an unedited copy of someone else's video. He's basically part of the anti-SJW crowd, which isn't a shock, because the gaming community is filled with those types, but what I remember about the video I watched is that he started railing on this article that he refused to link and refused to name the publication who posted it, all under the guise of "not giving the SJWs attention"; so he made a bunch of lofty-yet-specific claims about their content and didn't let his audience check for themselves if what he was saying is true. I just recently discovered you through your flat earth measured response video, and as a result watched your other videos, including the Bloodborne one. When watching it i felt like it was somewhat familiar so that maybe i had watched you in the past and had simply forgotten but after also watching this, I think I'm remembering watching LukiePoo's copy which is making me upset, because i enjoyed his video as much as i enjoyed yours. you obviously put immense amounts of thought and work into your Bloodborne analysis, and to have that torn apart and summed up into 7 minutes i had craved more of is sad. Like there's really no point in me posting this comment since this issue is completely irrelevant now, and i'm sure you won't see this comment, nor will many other people, but i just need to get that out there. Video essays are one of my favorite formats on youtube and the good ones are few and far between. you literally discovered the play conditioning phenomenon through your friend, a personal experience, and on top of that created an hour and a half passionate retelling of that showing how appreciative, genuine, and introspective you are as a person. it wasn't an hour and a half of you ranting, it was an hour and a half planned script with research. it was YOUR project. YOUR project for no reason other than your own satisfaction that comes from analysis of human behavior and your love of video games, and some guy scrapped all of that into 7 minute regurgitated bullshit which makes me have to stop and wonder if most of the videos i love are actually also stolen from original creators... idk i can't do this. the world is a sad place. why do people have to be like that

    To anyone watching as of 2019 - "Luke Stephens" is what he goes by now, and links to his BB rip-off videos don't work. Wonder if there is any connection between being called out for the plagiarizing and that "rebranding". Anyway, I thought that voice sounded familiar (it's actually a great voice for youtube, actually) - and I had to find out where from. (EDIT - a word)

    • @xBINARYGODx
      @xBINARYGODx 5 лет назад +6

      BTW - Luke S content is kind of crap. He really never provides enough of a compelling argument for his claims, making plenty of his titles feel like clickbait. I am sure there are many low-effort viewers who support him. Low-effort, as in, believe what is uttered, dont bother to double check, and blindly defend - because who cares about anything, right? "just entertain me and distract me and then I dont care even if you are Satan" which seems to be common among youtube and twitch viewers. The cult of personality stuff too. (that last part doesn't even qualify as a sentence, but if I point that out here, it so totally doesn't matter, right?... Right???)

    • @xBINARYGODx
      @xBINARYGODx 5 лет назад +5

      As a total aside (wrt content) - Luke is that odd specimen of guy with cute, youthful features who then grows a beard so as to (I assume) 'look more manly' (or older or more mature?).

    That KFC video sticks out like a sore thumb in this video. Two of these are blatant, that one was... very iffy. I don't know, I was on dA when it went through its major PLAGIARISM/TRACING/OMGAAAAAAAAH days, (not that that stuff ever went away people were just complaining about it at higher volumes), but style rips were never ever worth fighting over. People always diverge at some point from their inspiration if they keep at it, and dragging them ends up needlessly killing good will in the community. People become scared to do anything without getting labeled. ("That looks too much like ___!" when it... doesn't. Suddenly every cartoon lion is Simba whether it is or not. People like to mob when they think there's a cause, and unfortunately not all of those people know how to tell the difference between similar things.)
    "Tracers" though, they never grow. They can't, they automatically set themselves up for failure.

    • @hi-i-am-atan
      @hi-i-am-atan 5 лет назад +43

      "Tracers never grow" is one of those things that takes like five seconds of thought to realize it's just a way to discourage tracing. Which ... is nonsense. The issue with tracing stems from sharing or selling traced works without the original artist's consent, not from it not being a legitimate way to get into or practice art.
      Like, tracing is a lot like writing down a lecture - you might not be making anything new, but the act of just doing and engaging with the idea helps imprint it into your brain. Not to mention it's pretty direct practice in terms of figuring out how to draw certain shapes, because you can see where you're messing up as you're drawing them instead of having to compare after the fact.
      And, heck, tracing a photograph or 3D model or such is actually a pretty good way to get a base to work with - a pretty good way that's _done professionally_ because using a reference, even so directly as tracing over it, it generally better than starting with a completely blank canvas, especially when you don't have experience drawing a particular thing from scratch.
