Finnish seasons are simply wonderful. In general, I am a winter type of person, but in Finland I do enjoy spring, summer and autumn as well. It's a fascinating land, probably not for everyone, but to the souls seeking peace and quiet it's one of the best places in the world, perfect imo. Have a good life 😊
Hello Olia! I really enjoyed this episode. It was so soothing and relaxing to watch; I visited Finland for one week with Erasmus, and I imediatly fell in love with the country! It has a gorgeus nature and the people there are very educated and respectful! I feel like Finland is a perfect match for my personality! I think you really managed to capture the beauty of the country in this video. Keep making videos like these and good luck !
Hello Daniel! It’s so nice to know that my video was able to immerse you in good memories from your visit to Finland. The country is amazing and what you’ve written about nature and the people is absolutely true. I’m happy you enjoyed my video and thank you so much for this lovely comment! I much appreciate it :)
I'm grateful that the algorythm place you into my path just in time. I'm a fellow Romanian who will move to Finland in just under 30 days and I find your videos amazing. In my case, I'm the husband taking a job in Finland and my wife is the beautiful woman accepting this challenge for our family. I've been watching youtube ~10 hours a week for the past 3 years and I have to tell you that your videos are in the top 1%. Your voice, your editing and the storytelling is amazing! My wife and I are certain lifetime subscribers to your channel!
I’m so happy to hear that this video came to you at the right time. I think both you and your wife are very brave people. Taking a decision about moving to another country can be a very scary thing. Changes are always scary, especially big ones. But you, as a family, are going to face this challenge together and that’s all that matters. Besides, you already have friends here. We moved on the same basis: my husband got a job and I joined him as a spouse :) I hope your moving will go as smoothly as possible and I wish you a very happy life in Finland. Thank you so much to both of you! It makes me so glad to hear you enjoy my videos, it truly means so much to me. 🤗
Hello to you. I moved from finland in 1958 when my father wanted us children away from the Russian border. I now live in Canada. It is always interesting to me to see the reactions of new people coming to Finland. I have many relatives I left behind and many memories. I wish you and your husband many happy days as you learn the new language. And to keep my Finnish heritage alive I cook the Finnish coffee bread pulla and the rice pie piirakka. I hope you find recipes for these and learn to make them. Rye flour is essential in Finnish baking. Many warm feelings to you two. I wish you much happiness.
I can understand the fears of your father and why he made such a decision. Thankfully, Finland is very strong now and we can feel safe here. We try to learn more about Finnish culture, through cuisine as well. I was amazed at how delicious rye flour can be in sweet baking. In summertime I often cook mustikkapiirakka with fresh berries from the forest and I add rye flour to the crust as well. Sure, I’ll learn how to make pulla and riisipiirakka at home. Greetings to Canada. I’ve watched and heard a lot about this beautiful country and I want to visit it someday.

It makes me so happy to hear that my video could bring you a feeling of magic in life. Thank you with all my heart for your beautiful comment, it means so much to me ❤️
I really enjoyed this video, I think it's always interesting to see this kind of view of Finland. It makes me look some things with new eyes (as a Finn, I have got used to see our country).
Thank you so much for your comment! It’s such a pleasure to read your feedback and to know how my video affected you. Finland taught me to live in harmony with nature and I can’t stop admiring the beauty of your country.
I have been following your videos for some time and find them very interesting with many new points of view to me at the age of 77. This video especially opened my eyes about being a Finn. Welcome to Finland Olia! I hope you get a lot of new friends in Tampere. As you probably already figured out, we Finns are a little bit reserved in the beginning, but when you get to know someone they mostly turn out to be great friends. Cheers from Pietarsaari!
Hello Mika! Thank you for your kind comment. I’m a shy person and it's never been easy for me to make new friends, but I've managed to build some good connections here that I really appreciate. I learned that Finns are actually very nice and friendly. Wishing you all the best! Cheers!
Beautiful video, I was only listening and will have to watch it again watching because the footage looks really nice. You have a very soothing nice, good for narrating, it adds a charm to the video and the music as well. You talked about important things. It must be really tough for you with the war as well.

I apologize for the multiple displays of my comment. It is not my fault but a problem with the system. But I do want to add. Welcome and a warm welcome to your new home. I want you to feel at home. It used to be my home and it still is my home even though I live far away.
Hauska nähdä videosi. Itse rakastan myös talvea - erityisesti lumista talvea. Tosin kaikki vuodenajat täällä ovat kauniita. Hyvää alkanutta vuotta sinulle ja miehellesi täällä pohjolassa ja tervetuloa Suomeen.
7:47 I live in Norway, not Finland. But snow in November isn't early at all for me... Where I live snow may come as early as in mid August or September or as late as December or January. With the gulf stream and its hot air and water and the arctic weather systems coliding you kind of get used to unpredictability...
It depends where in Finland or Norway you are. Most of the Norwegians are living in a part of Norway that is south from the most south part of Finland. What I have heard from people who have lived in Norway the seasons change faster than they do here in Finland.
7:55 it sounds like raining. What is this? In Germany, we miss winter times. Most of the time it's too warm and rainy. When it is cold, there is clear sky, so no snow at all. US East Coast has fierce weather conditions right now. We in Europe might get it too. It's some kind of predictable weather phenomenon that repeats. Not every year, but it repeats. When it is hot in US, it is cold in EU and the other way around. Most of the time it's the opposite over the years.
Happy New Year to you both ✨❤️❤️✨Nice that you like it here. I moved from the city to countryside and love it here. Made a video about me moving to the countryside here on RUclips. Life is so much meaningful now. Love it here. 🤍🤍🏡🤍🤍
- this was a nice, pleasant video - but you didn't develop in much depth about how finland changed you; perhaps you could make another video about what in finland caused you to change, how attitudes were different from your country of origin, and how that brought about changes in you... :)
Yes, sure! Indeed, there’s much more to say about it than I’ve expressed in this video. I’ll analyze it more thoughtfully and consider making another video on this topic in the future. Thank you so much for the note, much appreciated :)
Hello Olia, I am sumaya from Bangladesh. I already fall in love to Finland and want to move there. Could you help me please? Your video quality is awesome. How beautifully you captured everything in this video. Just spectacular. Much love for you💓❤️
Nice vid. I sure you are safe in Finland. If vladimir the small wanna attack here. Love your voice so calm and lovely. I'm sorry what is happening in your home country.

I'm currently dipping my toe into the idea of moving there. I think it will be extremely difficult to convince my family to come with me, so I don't think it'll happen. I'm fed up with UK and its governments pathetic economic management of the country (the opposition will be just as bad). The rich have been allowed to get extremely rich the last couple of years and they're now squeezing people like me to sustain it. I don't want to continue working this hard. I just want to live in peace with nature...
Sorry that I left many things unsaid. Yes, I’m from Ukraine and I moved to Finland in 2020. Sure, Finnish is not easy. Its grammar structure is very different from many common languages. It has lots of rules that make it difficult to learn. But it has some easy aspects as well: the spelling system is very logical and consistent; pronunciation is easy (it just takes a bit of time to get used to some sounds).

Oh that's actually a very interesting idea for a video :D We were able to get to know our neighbors better in the past year, as we did lots of work in our yard together. So yeah… I’ll gather my thoughts and talk about our neighbors in one of my future videos :)
Sweet video. Can I recommend a book to take with on this journey you are undertaking, a book that addresses the big questions in life - origins, purpose and destiny. A book that has sold nearly 4 Billion copies the past fifty years (so I won't be alone in recommending it :) I'm sure you know which Book I am talking about :) There is a promise in this Book, "Seek and you will find."
@@lifebyolia I also moved to a foreign country (from South Africa to the UK) about 5 years ago. English is my home language, which makes it much easier, but it can be lonely at times, but God is good to me :) Hope you don't mind two (actually one) more recommendation :) the Gospel of John is a good place to start (in this big Book:) It has been translated into over 1500 languages so I'm sure you can get one in whatever language you choose (can maybe help you learn a new language if you get it in both languages:) And for some fiction (allegorical novel), John Bunyan's "The Pilgrims Progress", written by a man who had been through much suffering, and was sitting in jail when he wrote this Novel. First published in 1678 and has been in print ever since (also translated into over 200 languages). It's about "Pilgrim" on a long and perilous journey from "The City of Destruction" to "The Celestial City". May God bless you and your husband and family.
I guess each of us who left our native country sometimes feels lonely 💔 Thank you so much for your recommendation and for taking the time to write it. I appreciate it. Peace and blessing to you and your loved ones ❤
Happy new year to you too Olia. It is nice how you make beautiful videos too. But as I learned you are Ukrainian, I find it very hard that you don't say or take any comments on Ukrainian independence war going on. I just don't know what your side is on this?
What else can my side be? I’m Ukrainian. I was born and spent my whole life in Ukraine. My family lives there now under constant russian shelling. They have power cuts every day and it’s winter now… Doesn’t every thinking person understand that russia is evil? They came to my land and have been killing my people since 2014. They destroy everything we love. They took away homes from millions of my people. They fired a massive missile attack on New Year’s eve killing innocent people in their homes, there were handwriting on missiles saying “happy new year”. It makes me so sad thinking that the world kept playing by the russian “rules” even after 2014… (and there also were Georgia, Chechnya and Transnistria before)
I showed some footage from the peaceful life of my family. I filmed it in October 2021 - four months before the full invasion started. And by this I wanted to show what kind of people live in Ukraine. They’re kind, they work hard and love their land with all their hearts. They want to be free and live peacefully. But their life is not like that anymore. I feel like even I can't fully understand what they’re going through every day, because I’m not there, I’m sitting here in Finland in a warm apartment with electricity and other privileges.
@@lifebyolia Thank you. Your words mean a lot to people reading them. Myself I started realizing things before 2014, but the world was unfortunately not ready to act strong enough. And I am sorry I posted the above comment before I watched this whole video. When in fact this video was you telling about it.
He hasn't got a call to fight yet. Besides, he has no military training, we suppose he’s more useful at a regular job, so we can send money to Ukraine every month and support our families there as well. Heroyam slava! Happy New year and best wishes to you! ❤️
I don’t think it’s true. They’re not depressed, they just don’t show their happiness to everyone. There’s even a Finnish saying: “the one who is happy should hide it”. I think it’s a thing that rises mainly from their history. Also, they don’t like small talk and fake smiles. They are very straightforward and value silence instead of empty words.
@@lifebyolia That is true, compared with North Americans, they seem unemotional. However, when you speak with them, and do so honestly, there are many Finns who want to leave. The weather, the high taxes, the lack of summer days, are not good for the soul. Finns are used to all of this until they experience something they have yet to experience.
@@joethi4981 Not true. The high taxes? You get a lot in return. The wages are also high and ppl are living comfortably. Summers are hot. Fortunately they do not not last long. A lot of finns don't like hot weather. You are sweating and exhausting. Winters are beautiful. There is no bad weather, but there is bad clothing. I lived in other countries and nobody is smiling 24/7.
@@cinderellaandstepsisters I get what you are saying. I love the humility of Finn's. I'm married to one actually. However, when we brought Finn's to a warm country like Australia a few years back, the difference was amazing. As one Finn said to me in Australia " I feel alive here". When we visited him back in Finland he was like his old downcast self. Remember, don't ask a fish what water is like. Take care now.
You could more likely say that Finns on average are less pretending, superficial and hyperbolic than most other people. They don't perform so much just to keep up the performance of pretentious facade as is done in many other places, which also makes many foreigners to look fake and dishonest in their eyes. Having to engage to ritualistic social interactions is not seen as valuable, though it does exist in Finland too. The Finnish society has more variability than many people realize. It has always had many different groups with their own ways. Not totally different but different enough to be regarded as different cultures. And nowadays there are areas where majority of people are either internal immigrants or foreign immigrants. But it can be difficult to some people to see all those, if they don't have real contacts to all those different groups and cultural subgroups.
@@harrystorm9837 At least twice more. Ukrainians are hard working and want to learn Finnish, unlike so many foreigners from Africa and Middle East. Asians are hard working, too.
Finland is actually a very good country to live in (from what I can compare). For me personally the weather and lack of sunlight in winter is not such a big deal. But I live in the south of Finland, though sometimes snowstorms here are worse than in Lapland :) Happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Wishing you the best ❤
Johnny Yuma was a rebel and he wandered all alone. He got fighting mad this rebel lad..(remember that 60's tv program starring Nick Adams--my favorite)

I live in Norway, not Finland.
You are a beautiful storyteller❤

Wonderful video Olia ... amazing photos on your instagram ... Shchaslyvoho novoho rokku ... from Manchester, UK
Aww thank you from the bottom of my heart. That's so nice to hear ❤️
Warmest wishes ✨
7:55 it sounds like raining. What is this? In Germany, we miss winter times. Most of the time it's too warm and rainy. When it is cold, there is clear sky, so no snow at all.
US East Coast has fierce weather conditions right now. We in Europe might get it too. It's some kind of predictable weather phenomenon that repeats. Not every year, but it repeats. When it is hot in US, it is cold in EU and the other way around. Most of the time it's the opposite over the years.
Probably a light form of hailstorm, judging by the bounces off her shoulders and later on in her hands.
You know your eyes shine when you smile, pretty girl
Aww thank you! You brightened my day☺️✨
Happy New Year to you both ✨❤️❤️✨Nice that you like it here. I moved from the city to countryside and love it here. Made a video about me moving to the countryside here on RUclips. Life is so much meaningful now. Love it here. 🤍🤍🏡🤍🤍

Wonderful love From Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Thank you! 🙏❤️
i wish i can live in same place i love the forest
Very nice Nature
Indeed, Finland is incredible 💚
- this was a nice, pleasant video - but you didn't develop in much depth about how finland changed you; perhaps you could make another video about what in finland caused you to change, how attitudes were different from your country of origin, and how that brought about changes in you... :)
Yes, sure! Indeed, there’s much more to say about it than I’ve expressed in this video. I’ll analyze it more thoughtfully and consider making another video on this topic in the future.
Thank you so much for the note, much appreciated :)
So you're originally from Ukraine? Finland is a beautiful country. Happy New Year!
Yes, I’m from Ukraine.
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too and my warmest wishes!

I am your brother 32 from Iran I am a half Persian/ Kurdish and I am learning Finnish now cause of my moving to there next year in God I trust🎉
Please 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 please please keep me in your prayers I really love to move and countinue my education at university of Finland
Thanks darling ❤God blessing you for ever and have luckiest like 👍 Amen 🙏🏼 ❤🎉
I'm currently dipping my toe into the idea of moving there. I think it will be extremely difficult to convince my family to come with me, so I don't think it'll happen. I'm fed up with UK and its governments pathetic economic management of the country (the opposition will be just as bad). The rich have been allowed to get extremely rich the last couple of years and they're now squeezing people like me to sustain it. I don't want to continue working this hard. I just want to live in peace with nature...
Well, looks like someone knows their way around cinematography...
Nice 🍵
Thank you ❤️
What about the language? Very hard...coming from almost any other language...Also where are YOU from? OH Ukraine? Give more info in videos please...
In general almost everybody in Finland can speak english.

What are your neighbours like? Can u make video talking about them :D
Oh that's actually a very interesting idea for a video :D
We were able to get to know our neighbors better in the past year, as we did lots of work in our yard together.
So yeah… I’ll gather my thoughts and talk about our neighbors in one of my future videos :)
❤🎉🎉🎉😅
Sweet video.
Can I recommend a book to take with on this journey you are undertaking, a book that addresses the big questions in life - origins, purpose and destiny. A book that has sold nearly 4 Billion copies the past fifty years (so I won't be alone in recommending it :) I'm sure you know which Book I am talking about :) There is a promise in this Book, "Seek and you will find."
Thank you so much for your recommendation. I love reading so I’ll definitely check out this book ❤
@@lifebyolia I also moved to a foreign country (from South Africa to the UK) about 5 years ago. English is my home language, which makes it much easier, but it can be lonely at times, but God is good to me :)
Hope you don't mind two (actually one) more recommendation :) the Gospel of John is a good place to start (in this big Book:) It has been translated into over 1500 languages so I'm sure you can get one in whatever language you choose (can maybe help you learn a new language if you get it in both languages:)
And for some fiction (allegorical novel), John Bunyan's "The Pilgrims Progress", written by a man who had been through much suffering, and was sitting in jail when he wrote this Novel. First published in 1678 and has been in print ever since (also translated into over 200 languages). It's about "Pilgrim" on a long and perilous journey from "The City of Destruction" to "The Celestial City".
May God bless you and your husband and family.
I guess each of us who left our native country sometimes feels lonely 💔
Thank you so much for your recommendation and for taking the time to write it. I appreciate it.
Peace and blessing to you and your loved ones ❤
make these in finnish
r u an ukraine or filand???
I'm from Ukraine, but I moved to Finland and currently I live in Finland
@@lifebyolia Will you allow me to come to finland???🤩😍🥰
Just for fun bye...
They have power cuts every day and it’s winter now…
Doesn’t every thinking person understand that russia is evil?
When in fact this video was you telling about it.
is your husband going to fight for ukraine? slava ukraini and happy new year!
He hasn't got a call to fight yet. Besides, he has no military training, we suppose he’s more useful at a regular job, so we can send money to Ukraine every month and support our families there as well.
Heroyam slava! Happy New year and best wishes to you! ❤️
@@lifebyolia slava ukraini
You solved a lot problems ,n i did not know you married
Yeah :) thank you for watching!!
Finland is lovely but it is a little bit depressing and the people, young and old, in the cities especially seems very depressed.
Slava Ukraine!
❤❤❤
Now we have 47.000 ukrainians here in a short period, how much more can we afford ?
@@harrystorm9837 At least twice more. Ukrainians are hard working and want to learn Finnish, unlike so many foreigners from Africa and Middle East. Asians are hard working, too.
Слава Украине! Героям Слава!
I thought Finland is a dreadful place to live, being so close to North Pole and such. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Finland is actually a very good country to live in (from what I can compare). For me personally the weather and lack of sunlight in winter is not such a big deal. But I live in the south of Finland, though sometimes snowstorms here are worse than in Lapland :)
Happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Wishing you the best ❤
🤣🤣
As of March 2022, Finland has been ranked the happiest country in the world five times in a row.
Johnny Yuma was a rebel and he wandered all alone. He got fighting mad this rebel lad..(remember that 60's tv program starring Nick Adams--my favorite)
