I hate tracing 😖 gathering 😡 changing overlocker threads 🤢 deciding for the next pattern 😩 deciding for a size 🙄 button holes 😵💫 ripping seams 🤬. The only part I truly enjoy is buying fabric so I am focussimg on that 🤪🤪🤪
Dear Ruan - wonderful chat as usual. I'm sitting in bed on Saturday morning watching you, eating breakfast, and hanging out washing (before the biggest tornado of this century hits Auckland) and I am smiling. You are so inspirational, and I really cannot work out how there are enough hours in the day for you. Back to our weather, remembering this is our summer, I have sewed a 1920s dress and hat for an Art Deco Festival in Napier next weekend, and I now probably cannot go. Was going in my campervan, and was really looking forward to it, but may be too unsafe for me to travel. Anyway, I can always tune into you and the Sewl Sisters anytime and smile and enjoy the chats (and with a bit of sewing thrown in) . Love from Heather (Mum ha ha) in New Zealand
@@theyorkshiresewgirl We’re ok where we live, but other parts of the country complete devastation including Napier, where I was meant to be now. Thousands have lost their homes, communications and roads. Loved the walk through ikea with you. Heather 🧵👗
Hellooooooo lovely one. Thank you for the mention of my Marnie 😘 Yours will be stunning in that cotton lawn, can’t wait to see your Southbank too, that fabric is perfect on you. Happy sewing lovely 🥰 🧵🪡
Hello friend! Well, you have a lot going on. My one AND only plan is making my sister a smock from out mother’s old smock. I actually took the smock apart and created a pattern from it. My sister and I went shopping this weekend and she chose some nice fabric. I’ll take some fabr from my mom’s smock and cut out a heart so she’ll have a piece of our mom with her always. I think it’ll be a nice memory for my sister 🥰. It’ll be a go start to a new and awesome year! Can’t wait to see your makes. Thank you for sharing! Your friend Diane ❤
Hi been watching your videos since you started . You Rachel tamlin.Have inspired me to do my channel. Just done secound video . The cornish sewing girl. Dlighted with all my views. Thank you girls for all your inspiration.
Very entertaining as always Ruan 😃 Love all your plans with those fabulous fabrics! I can never resist a print and don’t seem to enjoy sewing with plain fabrics as much for some reason 😂 I’m sure your Honey blouse will be stunning. I can’t seem to decide what to make this month! I’m thinking a Norma blouse which not made before. Happy Sewing😊
Love that black and white fabric! As for interfacing, I hate it too but saw a tip on Pattern Scout that is a game changer (maybe I'm late to the party but I hadn't thought of it) She interfaces a piece of fabric large enough to cut out all of the necessary pieces. No fiddling with small pieces.
I hate gathering, so I always use the clear elastic method. I find it also helps to stabilise the tiers as sometimes if the fabric is a little weighty it can make the length drop and the dress stretch
The fabric you purchased for your Marni top is soooo awesome! And cotton lawn is my favorite fabric to sew with. Can’t wait to see yours finished. Happy Sewing and hugs from Oregon…
Awesome Ruan, I just received the Nomi dress and magazine myself and love the short version, now I have to find me some fabric the same as the short one. I thought of you as soon as I seen the short nomi....lol Cant wait to see your makes. I have a plain pink to make the south bank. Just moved though so cant find much of anything yet. as I just also had Knee surgery October 31, so a bit slow yet.
So glad to see you!❤. As a mom of 2 grown boys, I can say it’s very hard work being the Queen of your home, raising those boys! I remember being exhausted most of the time. Your plans sound wonderful. The Fabric Godmother fabric took my breath away when you whipped it out to show us! Take care !
Have you tried gathering over dental floss? I use a wide zig zag that isn't spaced too far apart and zig zag over the dental floss. Once you finish tie one end to a safety pin so it doesn't pull through then slide the fabric down the floss until you get your required 'scrunch'. When you pin or clip you can disburse the gathers evenly. Much faster and you don't have to worry about your thread breaking!
Another great video Ruan. I love watching and listening to you because you are so funny and you challenge me to use colour and pattern on my makes. Lots of the RUclips sewing community do too. I have been so plain when it comes to clothes but garment making this year is going to zing (for me that might mean a few dots lol)😁
Great plans ❤. Liz from the Baker That Sews once suggested increasing the stitch tension on a long basting stitch to gather on the machine and it really works!! Saves loads of time….Ive not tried it on a jersey though 🤔
I made the long dress from the magazine too😊 I used black and white print jersey and I love it. Thought it would be perfect for travelling this summer. You’ll love it.
Love the sound of your plans and your fabrics too. I’ve got the pink zebra print from Andrea too, I’m thinking of the hug hoodie (minus the hood!). Can’t wait to see the honey blouse 😍
Love your plans and that fabric for the Marnie is lush 😍. Don't know how you fit it all in, I struggle to make one thing a month let alone 3 or 4! Is your middle name wonderwoman 🤣
Thanks for your videos. It might be an idea to interface a slightly bigger piece of fabric than you need, then cut out afterwards. This way, the fabric is more stable and easier to cut out.
@@theyorkshiresewgirl also, I meant to say, if it's daunting to go back so far, why not just start the 'makes' vlogs from this year? Most people will appreciate that the time it would take to catch up is a lot, so you could just start afresh from now :)
I've just found your channel and you are hilarious!!! It just makes watching so enjoyable. I guess even if you were talking about chopped liver it would still be funny. LOL
I love your plans. I have bought the Adria jacket but don't think I have seen yours yet. I haven't started it... 😕Currently making (very slowly) the Josephine dress from Fibremood... And also the Tudor blouse from Stitch Witch patterns...

Yes it’s such a good idea isn’t it. Would have definitely done that if I’d had enough interfacing 🙈
Love that second fabric on you. It lights up your face. Sort of wish I lived in the same country so I could join you all such laughs❤
Thank you so much!

Thank you Dawn 😊
I hate gathering, so I always use the clear elastic method. I find it also helps to stabilise the tiers as sometimes if the fabric is a little weighty it can make the length drop and the dress stretch
That’s a really good point. There’s a lot of fabric for the tier so it might drag 🤔
Love the plans, Ruan. The honey top will be stunning, and that fabric for the Marnie is too lovely for words. Have fun!
