E2E, Thanks for making a great video. I worked for a supplier of packs for SF. I can afford any pack at any price. I found the Marine ILBE to be the most functional for thoes of us who really pack in multiple enviroments. I also have the matching assult pack and the matching tarp in Marpat woodland, Even in the Sonoran desert the marine woodland marpat works well. Anyway,Im 6'4 and weigh 240. The pack adjusts well to my size and am very comfortable in the 40-60lbs range. In spite of my resources I picked up my gear at a gun show in like new condition for $74. I think the marines went to a more body armour friendly pack. Good for them and good for me.
you should get the drybags for the IBLE pack the USMC had them specifically designed to fit fully packed in the pack. plus one is blaze orange on the inside to act as a marker panel.
the marine corps. has upgraded to what is called the filbe. It has an external frame with room for body armor, and have the same amount of room and sit lower. The filbe incorporates the molle pack, cf90, and the ilbe. you can find them on lejuene yard sales. they are expensive but are top quality.
I use this bag as my main backpacking bag. Mine was 50$ with no lid. I wouldnt want the lid anyway. I have a bunch of pals stuff like canteens and trauma packs, etc. I took them all off as they are not really needed. The internal space is more than enough. I bring my maxpedition gearslinger murse to hold survival, firstaid, and fishing gear.
I highly recommend any of the Eberlestock packs. Great packs. I personally have the gunslinger 2 and love it. They are a bit expensive but are built like tanks and will last forever.
Carlo Ferri : The pack is was using was a molle, medic pack, not sure what the actual number it uses. At a surplus store you can look around at the different ones, or ask. it has the shock cords to hold the half s of the kits half way so the contents don't just fall out. the inside has a bunch of elastic straps to hold contents in place.Hope this helps. I have two of the pouches. Remember the video and what it looks like and you will know when you see it.
You only bug out when you have too. In a disaster it's best to stay at home. Sometimes however it's not safe to stay at home. So you have to go somewhere else. The point of having a bug out bag (BOB)is so you can leave quickly if need be. If the forest fire is getting close to your home, you may not have time to pack. A BOB gives you the basics for 3 days to get you to where ever you are going; say a relatives house. Bugging out doesn't always mean out in the woods with guns.
I just packed 90lbs in my ILBE. Once on my back, I swear, it felt like my 50lb load in my ALICE Hellcat. It was amazingly well balanced. I'm a believer.
Do you have the Sealine insert bag that was made for that bag? If not then i suggest you try to find one. Then you´ll have a waterproof bag and an emergency floatation device at once. Thanks for all your videos.
I have one, from the little bit I have tested it, it seems like a great pack. I don't have body armor so that isn't an issue for me. If I want to carry a day pack, I should be able to carry my MOLLE assault pack. Of course I wont know for sure how well this pack performs till I go on a decent hike with it.
Great vid Adam, and thank you for all EIIE does for the bushcraft/prep community. My question: Would you say the ILBE has a torso adjustment range to fit +21"? You appear to be around the same build as me and I'm curious how well it adjusts to you. Thanks.
Matthew Rodgers The molle rucks are bigger, but I like them because they already have the side sustainment cargo pouches and the sleep system is easier to get to from the front than on the side like this pack. I can fit both my wet weather top and bottom in one side pouch and my poncho and poncho liner in the other. I can place my E-Tool carrier on the front if I want to as well. I found one online that's in woodland camo, but its the same generation as the ACU and Multi-Cam where the sleep system and main pack are one bag instead of the sleep system being a separate carrier bag. It's just that the molle is fucking huge and bulky and for a bug out bag fuck that. I hated that thing when I was in the army. LoL I was thinking of buying an ALICE ruck and doing that Hellcat molle/alice hybrid pack I've seen online. I think that would be a good bug out bag. Not too small, not too big and not bulky like the MOLLE. I can add the sleep system carrier to the bottom of the frame, a molle waist belt, and molle shoulder straps. Plus, I can add two side pouches for other items. I bought this ILBE pack recently and its ok. Not too impressed with it. I should've just got a MOLLE or ALICE rucksack like I was originally planning. Oh well. I figured I'd give the ILBE the ole Jr college try.
the only thing I don't like about them is they weigh 6-7 lbs empty, hehe! Mine only gets used in the winter when I have to carry my full modular sleep system.
Hey Adam, great video on a nice looking pack. Just one thing... You should really lose the digital zoom thingy. It makes the video horribly blurry, even on 720p.
what do you think about condor products and the rothco medium transport pack? i found a rothco medium pack for $59 but idk if it will hold up what you guys think?
have you ever thought about changing the intro music? i'll understand if you like it and dont want to change it... but its getting kinda old. (imo) i hate skipping the intro and accidentally going too far and having to wait for the vid to re-buffer until i can try again (SLOW computer). great vid though. keep 'em coming man. God bless
I interpret your title meaning you're doing an overview of the ILBE in a BOB role. Yet you only use 77 sec to discuss the bag. 05:00-05:38 is actually about the pack. Then 07:06-7:25. Finally 10:40-11:00. So 77 sec out of 11:16 is actually about the ILBE. I thought the "BOB Overview" was a subtitle, but BOB isn't even a tag below. But hey, over 7,000 views in 10 days. Thumbs up! Reminds me of something PT Barnum said...
Hello folks, Information on the two versions of the ILBE: The Recon ILBE & Recon/Corpsman Assault Pack & Standard ILBE with standard Assault pack. loadbearingequipment . ciehub . info/ILBE . html Recon ILBE pack 5500 cu/in of space (Standard ILBE pack 4500 cu/in of space) 500 cu/in for external/accessory pouches Standard Assault pack 1500 cu/in of space with a load capacity of 25 to 40 pounds?? Recon/Corpsman Assault pack 2300 cu/in of space, & a load capacity of 40 to 55 pounds?? Enjoy.
time for them to get ouit and get trained. If you wait until a disaster you become part of the problem rather than part of the solution. Get motivated!!!!!!!
I went through the bug out Y2K idiots phase where my co workers were all going to go out and "live off the land" The only problem is that its someones elses land. Just go home to your food. Its a calorie game.
Your welcome keep up the good work. I don't know why people waste their lives ranting on other peoples videos. If they didn't like it they should have just not watched it. It's not like you went off topic. You said the video was about a bug out bag and then you preceded to show me how the bag worked. I didnt see any armed potato farmers in your vid. maybe I should have paid closer attention.
in response to the "bug out is a fantasy" people, some people are more organized than you think. If you dont think one person (civilian) can live out of a bag for several days you are underestimating them. Then take into account that they are probably (if organized) meeting other people at a predetermined location. Although yes, some people carrying a bag of potatoes or something ridiculous are just morons..
Looks like somebody hasn't heard of the Bielski brothers. In fact, the second world war provides us with more survival stories than I can count where people fled a very well funded and trained government with few supplies and survived for long periods of time. Some for years. Some for decades, like Hiroo Onoda (or the dozens of other Japanese holdouts). Please inform yourself before you embarrass yourself again.
Screw that bag. There are so many better and more comfortable options to go with those things suck. If you want a milserp bag buy an Alice pack those are a lot more comfortable.
12jason223 I recently bought this rucksack and I'm not that impressed with it. I'm thinking of returning it and just going with an ALICE rucksack like I originally wanted to do. Its got 3 main pouches on the front for my wet weather top and bottom gear and my poncho and poncho liner. Plus, I can add more sustainment pouches on the sides and on the front above the 3 main ones. I was thinking of doing that Hellcat ALICE/MOLLE hybrid I've seen online. I can replace the ALICE waist belt and shoulder straps with the MOLLE ones and add a MOLLE sleep system to it too. The molle rucksack is a great for packing inside the main pack and storing stuff on the outside. The sleep system is way easier to get to on the molle too. It's just that the molle is fucking huge. I hated that thing when I was in the army. Probably too big for a bug out bag. The ALICE seems to be a good fit for a bug out bag in my opinion. Not too small and not too big for an emergency bug out bag. Plus, you can fit a lot into those ALICE rucksacks for their size.
This pack isnt great until you have a day pack with it, that is compatable with it then it does what it is supposed to do. If you are using body armor, then this pack sucks and your back will let you know. You can get way better. The usmc doesnt issue this anymore because this pack sucked. Just get an alice pack, those are where its at. They arent great, but who is looking for perfection.
I have this pack and it does not suck. I'd recommend it to anyone that is looking for a solid bug out bag. It has good space, it's very customizable and expandable, super comfortable with weight, and it's tough as nails. The Marine Corps loved it, they only ditched it because it interfered with their body armor.
E2E,

Dude you handle these guys so well you should get a medal
love mine, also got the assault or day pack that goes with it. I use that for a get home bag for the truck.
These vids are legit. This channel has quickly become my favorite :)
Thanks for your input, and for watching
I always enjoy watching your videos. They all are very informative. Thank you for taking the time to prepare them for all of us to watch.
you should get the drybags for the IBLE pack the USMC had them specifically designed to fit fully packed in the pack. plus one is blaze orange on the inside to act as a marker panel.
Still my favorite pack of all time. Appreciate you making this video, wonderful thing.

I love that pack I have one just havent decided what all to stuff into it. It is way to easy to over load!! Great vid keep up the good work.

i have that exact bag but mine was used in the line of duty. it suits a hydration bladder extremely well

loved that bag!!! nice vid man!! words full of experience i can tell
I just packed 90lbs in my ILBE. Once on my back, I swear, it felt like my 50lb load in my ALICE Hellcat. It was amazingly well balanced. I'm a believer.
i got extremely lucky and got one of these bags off ebay for around $100. it seems like a great bag, but we'll see when i take it out next weekend.
Nice video. Keep em comming
Love that you use two swedish tools so much! Fällkniven Idun and Wetterling! We do make good steel over here:)
Do you have the Sealine insert bag that was made for that bag? If not then i suggest you try to find one. Then you´ll have a waterproof bag and an emergency floatation device at once.
Thanks for all your videos.
Saw this Pack on here, Bought it from a Friend 2 hours later. This Pack Kicks ass. If you can find one, get it!
I have one, from the little bit I have tested it, it seems like a great pack. I don't have body armor so that isn't an issue for me. If I want to carry a day pack, I should be able to carry my MOLLE assault pack.

Sorry you did not enjoy the video or find it informative. Hopefully another site will be of more use to you.
Flektarn is awesome. Great bag, where can you buy one online, or can you only buy them at surplus stores?
Great vid Adam, and thank you for all EIIE does for the bushcraft/prep community.
My question:
Would you say the ILBE has a torso adjustment range to fit +21"? You appear to be around the same build as me and I'm curious how well it adjusts to you.
Thanks.
yeah dont worry about other say neg. focus on the people who do enjoy you suggestions etc. keep it friend enjoy all the things you test and suggest.
Carry what'cha need to survive.
A 11B/0311 will plan twice, carry once.
Cool video.
You should check out the molle 2 rucksack

ADAM, do u know when the tests for the kabar zombie knives are coming out... thx
hey Adam i work outdoors and would like to know what kinda of windstopper hat/ toboggan that is?? Thanks in advance!!
the only thing I don't like about them is they weigh 6-7 lbs empty, hehe! Mine only gets used in the winter when I have to carry my full modular sleep system.
Thanks
Hey Adam, great video on a nice looking pack. Just one thing... You should really lose the digital zoom thingy. It makes the video horribly blurry, even on 720p.
@dodoinurpants he said like 55 or 60 pounds. its rated to around 120lbs he said
hi adam, im up in toronto, canada and was wondering what classes i can take up that are similar to the ones you teach.
Yea, but no straps belt or lid on the ones at steel city.
nice vid but how is it bullet proof and it weighs a lot empty
Is this backpack waterproof??? Are there any "USMC" labels/markings on the outside???
If you really want to see how one of these works, go to bootcamp or OCS. You'll use it more than you ever want.
Adam, what are you using for your hygiene kit?
What utility pouch do you use for the hygiene kit...?
No recon rolls? :P
what do you think about condor products and the rothco medium transport pack? i found a rothco medium pack for $59 but idk if it will hold up what you guys think?
the bag is bullet proof- if that true i would like to see an empty bag shot at by various sized rounds
I watch all my videos u and nutnfancy are my heroes
If unpack the pack sounds too redundant, you can always say, "Lets proceed with the proceedings".
I live in NC and would really like to know where you got this ILBE. If you guys could tell me the store name i would greatly appreciate it.
bulletproof? Its a saying and it is just very tough material.
wow, just realized that Adam and SeaNanners sound and even look extremely similar.
have you ever thought about changing the intro music? i'll understand if you like it and dont want to change it... but its getting kinda old. (imo) i hate skipping the intro and accidentally going too far and having to wait for the vid to re-buffer until i can try again (SLOW computer). great vid though. keep 'em coming man. God bless

Anyone know what type of case he uses for his hygiene kit? I keep googling F1 hygiene kit but nothing pops up!
Yes sir-you are correct.
Probably has not been baptized by the fires of the DI.
Poole before Marine, No exception!!!

What kind of axe?
where are you from?
time for them to get ouit and get trained. If you wait until a disaster you become part of the problem rather than part of the solution. Get motivated!!!!!!!

Great, I love it when the supplies are comming to my bugging in location. Glad i got pleanty of ammo
PS. Love the ILBE pack that the marines surplused out. Their loss our gain. Semper Fi
Spot on catman2287. I eat more vegies and I am only bugging back to my fortress. All the fools will be dead in the first 120 days.
I went through the bug out Y2K idiots phase where my co workers were all going to go out and "live off the land" The only problem is that its someones elses land.
Just go home to your food. Its a calorie game.
adem u should make a video about zombie srvival.

Good kit..

Good Video

MARINE CORPS (much love bro)
adam?
Where did you get your bag and do they have more. Web sight, phone #, email.
Shane
Have a change of heart about wearing stuff around your neck?
See your not letting the Pack ride on your hipps - why are you letting it ride on your shoulders

i want one sooooo bad
Skip to 7:00 thank me later
...Thats a BIG ass pack. I'd rather have nothing than 50lbs+ in that thing.
It's 8.5 lbs, empty.
yep i want one...lol
Amen to that.
Stitching was crap.
And it was produce by the lowest bidder.
Move ahead on shoestring budget.
I knew you used knee pads :)
Screw that bag. There are so many better and more comfortable options to go with those things suck. If you want a milserp bag buy an Alice pack those are a lot more comfortable.
