Only a ten hours drive north of L'Isle Sur la Sorgue, June 6 1944, almost 160,000 troops landed on the Normandy beaches of France on D-Day 80 years ago. Casualties during the landing numbered 10,300. Freedom is not free nor to be taken for granted.

    What a beautiful town.
That little house boat was really cute looking. Would you all consider doing boat life full time? You could put the girls 🐶🐶🐶in the bike basket, That would be an adventure. I absolutely love watching your videos and you capture the towns so beautifully Rob, with or without a fancy camera. Your videos take me places I'll never have the opportunity to visit, I cherish the hard work you all put into your videos.

Hey guys, in the middle of video where you are talking about where to park and wondered if you have heard of France Passion? Lists vineyards and olive groves etc you can stay at as part of their scheme. Think it is more south of France and costs about £35 a year to join from what I saw on another video yesterday but there were loads of places. Maybe worth a look? Have a blessed week 🙏

Parking was free but think they like you to do a wine tasting or buy a bottle of wine…olive oil etc but did look like it was very laid back from the 2 places they stayed and they only brought some wine or stuff they needed.

There are reasons you like water small negative reasons, here is one description of the benefits.
“as the air around water is supercharged with healthy negative ions. You've probably never heard about healthy negative ions, but when you breathe these negative ions in, they have such a healthy impact on your body, helping with everything from stress to energy levels. Not only do they accelerate your ability to absorb oxygen, but they also naturally increase your levels of serotonin, the key hormone that stabilises your mood, feelings of wellbeing, and happiness. They also clear the air of airborne allergens such as pollen, mould spores, bacteria, and viruses. That is why a deep breath while walking along the beach can feel so good and make you instantly feel better.
It doesn't end there either, negative ions are believed to revitalise cell metabolism, enhance immune function, purify your blood, and balance the autonomic system that helps promote deep sleep and healthy digestion”

Boat life & van life share many similarities. A year or two cruising & living on the European waterways would be an amazing experience, (see if you can find Watersteps Through France by Bill & Laurel Cooper).
Ocean going boat (yacht) life - Now there’s a whole new adventure (the coopers did that too on their ferrocement yacht “Fare Well” which they documented in their book Sell Up & Sail).
I have no connection to them but had many similar adventures in my own boats - I just didn’t write about it!!

Anyway....thx for the video...glad all is going well. I am not too good for a floating cargo container conversion thing somewhere to chill on......I think that is very interesting. Chiming in from Perth (West Aussie). We recently returned from 6 weeks in UK (Maidstone area in Kent to Harrogate in Yorkshire) & Europe (Amsterdam to Budapest by river boat and the rest by Train hopping all around Europe). We spent some time in France & enjoyed the small villages (we were actually north of you outside of Lyon exporing the region). Did not realise how expensive both UK & Europe had become re both accomodation & food eating out when your touring. Hated the intensity & chaotic madness of the big cities. Venice was saturated with tourists as was Paris. Uk was madness with the small villages overrun with mass volume of small cars on skinny roads not designed to handle population density. (we had a hire car in Kent) Best way to travel was train hopping for sure living out of a suitcase. Van Life would be good for a venture but where it is your full time only home living the gypsy life that would be tuff for sure and i take my hat off to you.
Makes us appreciate the vast space we have around us in our daily lives back here in Perth (where our peak hour traffic on the freeway on a monday morning would be a normal Sunday drive in the UK) and i can now see why so many poms (my wife included) migrated to Perth over the years which is why its knickname is "little Brittain" haha.
We definately needed to brush on our French language in france as many in the retail trade did not speak English at all (not the case in the rest of Europe)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I live in Kent and agree with everything you said. I also agree that visting the big cities in Europe can feel overwhelming and it's not easy to connect with a place when you have to fight through the crowds. I much prefer exploring the small villages and towns, where you can actually talk to the locals and learn about the history of the area and hidden gems that very few know about.
