Love the humor 😂 I have a 2015 Promaster City and have been looking at different videos to snag some ideas. I had a footon in my van traveling the country to build stages but that is over thank to Covid-19. While I’m not sure what to do next career wise (I’m 3 years shy of 50) I am definitely sure I want to convert my van and now I have some great ideas and a laugh. Thanks and happy motoring fellow travelers!
Absolutely love your outdoor fabric on your walls and ceiling. Looks great and so effective. I am certain it takes some talent to get in in place so neat, tidy and smooth. You've done a great job. I also love how you designed the drawer for your stove with storage below for pots and utensils. It looks convenient and secure. Looking forward to your Dodge Ram camper build out.
Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻 Looking to buy one of these this week - people have been telling me I’ll regret not having a high top, but I think I’ll regret the inaccessibility and higher payments of a high top more! I’m a low profile person by nature, and literally (5’4 100lbs.) Plus gas mileage is stellar in this model!
Hands down, the best part of this video is when the camera person whispered "Fresshhh" in response to the mention of the wood paneling on the ceiling😆😆😆
Great design, but you can have a built in bed expansion system that doesn't cost space. Check out the vids of slat beds, where every other slat slides out attached to a support frame... You would just have it over the three front storage compartments. Planning to go PM City myself, Like the HP over the Nissan, the height over the Connect, and wouldn't touch a Mercedes Benz with a 10' pole! Also planning to use some of the track mounting from US Cargo to make things ultra flexible inside... Good overview!
💥Really like this build. You have a lot of great ideas! I've subscribed and it looks like you still post, though infrequently. Hope to see more videos! 👏🏻
Very nice. Just what I am thinking about doing. I looked at a 2015 Promaster City today and was concerned about the cargo space. The black fabric is a great idea. I have not seen it done before. Can you tell me what type of insulation is behind it? The van I looked at has windows on both sides (that actually open). I like that idea since I could add a ceiling fan for cross ventilation. Living in Florida I am more concerned with keeping the van cool vs. warm. I am looking forward to watching your progress on the 1500.
Wow- some brilliant choices. Love the fabric on the walls. Did you use moving blankets or is it more like the patterned fabric type? How did you attach it? I just love it. I’m hoping to get on the road for extended periods of time. Not quite FT because I’ll have to keep a small apartment for a variety of reasons. I think I’m going to wind up in a minivan(unless I win the lottery! 😏) Thanks for the inspiration! Can’t wait to go watch more. Oh, and if I win then I’m going a little bigger and hiring a pro to build. I’ll be in touch! LOL. (I rarely play.🤓)
Awesome conversion!!!!! What’s the length of the bed? We were thinking about the wagon version with 2nd row folding. Wondering if we would have enough room to sleep comfortably!!!???
I like the simplicity of your van. I am looking at getting a 2017 Ram Promaster and I don't want to over load it with heavy shelves and walls. What is the black material that you used on the inside walls and where can it be purchased? I'm also not going to go solar as I just use a very small portable computer and don't think I want to go with a fridge or any type of electric heater. The Goal Zero battery you describe will power what, for how long?
The black material you see is quilted fabric. Beneath it lies 2-3 layers of insulation. Goal Zero has a great chart with more examples than I could give on their site. The battery seen here is the Yeti 150.
Just wondering if you've ever seen a parts catalog or repair manual similar to a Chiltons and Haynes for the Promaster City. Sure would help if figuring out what's where.
Most fabric stores should have something similar under the quilted section. It's really great stuff. Adds a little extra insulation for sound and temp.
For just one person sleeping in a van at night, you dont need much ventilation...just cracking the front windows a couple inches will do. Any condesation buildup can be aired out throughout the day by opening doors. Hes got all the single-ply bare metal covered, so condensation droplets aren't a problem and his stove is designed for outdoor use.
Hi. You have internal door handles on your sliding doors. Did you add them and if so what supplier did you use. A link would help thank you. Your design is very smart. I'm thinking of doing very similar.
Have you taken your rig to the mountains? If so, does it have enough power and the right gearing to handle the steeper grades without max speed dropping down to barely a crawl like the Ford Transit Connect does?
I bought a ProMaster City specifically to head to the Rockies among other destinations. The 2.4 litre is 20% larger than a Transit Connect engine, and the PMC has a 9 speed transmission, so I think it's more than capable. I'm documenting my build to travel to Alaska in July 2019 if interested: ruclips.net/channel/UCYlR2t3yTZ8Z2cScBTQEZbgplaylists thanks
I like what you did, no I love what you have done to your van so simple I would for you to do something like that to my Ram Promaster City Van. How can I where are you and how much?

Beautiful build , but do you ever regret building it on the wrong side ? The campsite and parking side are typically on the passenger side so when you open the side door you're looking out to the campsite , ocean etc... and not out to your neighbors campsite or the street .
True, but building bed/storage on the "wrong side" gives better weight distribution. I built mine on the "right side" only because I keep my surfboards inside - the 9 ft log only fits in the passenger side (seat folded down).
I'm paying $450 a month for a room in someone's house and it feels like such a waste...especially since I'm camping in my van about a week out of that month.
I feel even worse. I'm paying $600 a month to sleep in the back yard of some guys 14 ft camper which I'm probably paying off for him. I'm definitely building my own with in the next few months!
Doug Rennick thanks for the input! This is, of course, just one way to do a bed system. As stated in the video this van was build to be a daily driver, maximize storage space and be the most stable bed for two folks to sleep on without worry. Stay tuned for more versions of our conversions!
What in the world possessed you to di the video next to a highway? You couldn't find a calm parking lot somewhere? So annoying to hear all the traffic.
This is the least creative build yet. I wouldn't even call it a camper. It's more like a compact cargo van that you sleep in. Let us know when you finish it. "Saving space" = ran out of money.
I love the idea of the panel it definitely makes the van seem wider than others I’ve seen
I just bought a van yesterday...super stoked to camperize it!!
Nice. I'd cut weight-relief holes in those bed slats and get a thicker mattress. Also, black curtains (at least facing cockpit) are stealthier.
I like the fabric for the walls. Definitely more economical and less weight.
You put a huge smile on my face. Funny guys!

Good bed design and storage solution
His voice reminds me of Ryan Reynolds. Also very nice van build.
Awesome, smart solutions, clean yet stylish looking. Great job!
Wow!! Beautiful build and great use of space! He reminds me of Static Van Man
I love this simple build, it's not too excessive. Easy for any weekend trip!
Great great design choices...I'm watching this for the third time. Especially love the touch of fabric...great pattern and colors. 💖👍
Love the shower, easy, fast and well thought out!

Some very very good ideas. I have been wanting to do this to one of the Ram Promaster City vans. This is inspiring! Thanks!
I definitely have been considering an upholstered wall option over a heavier more common wood finish.
Awesome use of cake
Just beautiful! My fav so far!
Love the campstove drawer! Nice touch! Just had my Promaster built out and loving it! :) Really nice job with yours!
Nice mate, clever and straight forward. Well done
simple and pragmatic. nice.
So well presented, you should be a movie star, you look like one.
I LOVE your van build!

Enjoyed your video
It really is a doable first van for stealth as a first timer

Nice and simple
Well done.
Nice ... you did this yourself!!
Great Build! We're looking to downsize from our full size promaster to something smaller like this. Thanks for the great video!
Very nice build. I sort of wish you had a slide out system for the bed. The bed build seems very awkward if the weather is bad. But overall top notch.
Thanks JSB! A slide out version of this build is now available as a DIY kit at downbytheriverproductions.com

That is quite a quilt really like to know what type it is looks like you might have worked in sound proof room.

K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid the way i likes it great vid and build thanks
I just bought the Boss Apple CarPlay system for my ProMaster and I wanted to know how you installed yours?
What fiber you used in th wall
Nice build! Do you live in your camper full time?
Ah Chris Farley those were the days..
Nice van how did you install the fabric walls. Glued it??
Nice, but how do you get ventilation in there? I don’t see any pop out windows.. Seems airtight!
For just one person sleeping in a van at night, you dont need much ventilation...just cracking the front windows a couple inches will do. Nice Camper. Is that the long or short version of the car?
You are pretttttttttyyyyyyyy =) In all seriousness though, this was super helpful, thank you!
Nice job! how tall are you if you dont mind me asking. Would help gauge how much headspace there is when sitting inside the van.

What model of head unit for you stereo? and your back up camera?
How did you attach the fabric onto the walls? I'm thinking the same kind of spray adhesive I will use for the insulation?
What did you use go adhere the fabric to the van walls?
I like what you did, no I love what you have done to your van so simple I would for you to do something like that to my Ram Promaster City Van. How can I where are you and how much?

This is rad🤘🤘im planning to buy a dodge pro master city to go to work out of town. How much would you charge a set up like yours?

Fiat dobló cargo in spain, i was thinking in a van the tipical big van that you made in your country.
What is board bandage? Where can you purchase?
@down by the river would i be about to sleep in this van fine im 6'3 thats my question
Considering this van, but as a surfer I’m worried about space for my boards. Is it sketchy to leave them on the top?
Nice, but 4 full-timeing [or] camping...gotta have a toilet...
4 a day @ the beach though, it's perfect 😀
Where are the surfboards? Can it carry a 9’ longboard inside?
What kind of lining is that

Does this work in a ProMaster City Wagon? My second row of Sears can come out.
Sure does! As long a there's still 48" between the wheel wells.

Any help/ resources you can offer on how to do the fabric on the walls?
Bed is totally wrong, you need another way to make a slideout frame for the bed, look through RUclips sites.
