I really like the authenticity of this. Most tech channels try to make out they are gods, and recalling their "perfection" when I am frustratedly trying to rescue something trash-picked can sometimes make the whole retro thing even more painful. So it's nice to know it's not only me that sighs like that. Suddenly I am just an ordinary Joe again who can simply enjoy their hobby. Glad to have found the channel recently 👌
Nearly went after T7600 since its widely recommended for this kind of upgrade. While it is an understandable upgrade, but buying it from over prices sellers in eBay for $60+ and $30+ from China? Thanks to this honest video, which I am so glad it showed up to my search, I think I will stick to T7200. I can't expect more speed on a 2006 model.
I have a Toshiba Satellite that supports Socket M processors, and I might have to agree with you. I feel uncomfortable buying the T7600 for $30 bucks when I can get a T7200 or even a T7400 for $10. Edit: T7200 is the cheapest and supports the lowest voltage compared to the other T7x00 CPUs.
Was there a part 2? I have one of these but there is a mystery wire coming from the superdrive eject button and it's long enough to go around the back, it ends in two stripped ends. Was hoping to see what it might be...
Смущает то что у процессора intel core 2 duo T7200 сокет s478(есть конечно поддержка для сокета 479).
Hi. i have a mac mini core 2 due 2007. it is running lion 10.7.5. is there any upgrade i can do to use latest OS? I plan to use dual monitors, and the adapters only work with superior OS.
Most of relevant footage needed to perform the upgrade was edited out, rendering the video almost useless. Removing outer screws is not the goal, it is about guiding on the complicated steps. If it takes an hour, well it takes an hour... we can always skip the sections that are easy. Fast forward sections are useless as well, because regular watchers to not have tools to slow down the images.

@@Techwen Just want to correct you on that, no it is not possible. They use different sockets. A cpu for a mac mini 2006 has to have the socket m configuration, while everything from the 3,1 and on uses the socket p.
@@Techwen No worries, they're easy to mess up. I really don't understand why intel bothered with socket m in the first place. There are such a little amount of cpus that work on socket m, it's ridiculous!
Poor fellow 11:47 my friend how many machine have you worked on😅, my apologies but your worry was adorable, reminded me of the first time I worked on a $89,000 server system... I was all (Omg if I mess something up it's gonna be my ass) but fast forward to now I'm like ummhmm yeah, drinking a monster energy drink and gaming on my mobile while assembling and disassembling machines, accidentally get some soda in there and I'm like oh... Oops meh (sprays some isopropyl alcohol in there and little dry rag to sponge it up and just so confident that I don't even think twice if I did anything that'll ruin the system or not*fyi No, as long as your not powering up the machine, or have it plugged into a power source, your good to go all day... Even if you drenched the whole system in water, so long as you have no power or any voltage or anything running thru the system just high alcohol concentrated source basically something that is wet liquid and evaporates isopropyl alcohol or acetone if you wanna be a badass... Your totally fine*)

yup - is it here?
What SSDs are compatible ? Because I tried cloning the 10.6.8 OS X onto a SATA3 128 GB GoodRAM SSD & the OS didn't boot. 🤔😕😞
Great vídeo! Huges from Brasil!
Would you help me?
I swapped the HDD for an SSD and was unable to install a version of the mac os via USB.
As you did?

T7600 is the last cpu you can put according to low end Mac
The T7600G is actually the last CPU. It has an unlocked multiplier for overclocking.
thank you. I hate to get rid of this complete system, Now i kinow i can upgrade it.

Excelente. Muchas gracias!
A graphics card or hard drive can be installed via the express PCI that the Mac mini has
Great video and a nice computer 👍
what about fan noise?
where is part 2?
maybe I'm a little bit late to tell but that machine can get up to Catalina, just without GPU accel
Can I put a core I 7?
No. The max it supports is an Intel T2600.
T2600 is the max.
Le instale un t5500
I missed u
Sorry if i was a dick
Interesting video and topic overall!
🔥
No hard feelings at all! As far as I’m concerned we’re still on good terms :)
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Techwen np ^^
Can it support a q9000?
The Q9000 is a Socket P processor likely supported by only some chipsets. The T7200 is a Socket M processor, so the Q9000 would be incompatible.
hi..this mac mini can use for editing video?
No! But yes... It'll just suck... Alot

Wouldn't a Core 2 Duo T9500 be also possible?
Yes but they cost more than the machine, it’s just not feasible price wise
