You should've talked about the central Asian countries, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. They all have very bizarre enclaves, with straight lines, and territories which unnaturally jab into each other's countries.

The New Zealand combined island shape looked like Italy upside down
Coming from down under, I prefer to turn Italy upside down to compare them😉
I saw that too. However as I come from down under, I prefer to turn Italy upside down😉
You can't see the shape of India without seeing the shape of Bangladesh.
🤯🤯🤯
you can't see the shape of south africa without seeing lesotho and eswatini 🤯
@@alimbis 🤯🤯🤯🤯
What about its Southern Coast?
Afghanistan and Namibia both have a part that are stretched, long and narrow. If I'm not mistaken the reason Afghanistan has such a shape is because the border was established by Russian and British Empires so they won't border each other. As for Namibia, I find it funny how it stretches between Zambia and Botswana to the point these two countries share the shortest border in the world.
I'm Namibian and the reason why we have the panhandle involves Britain too. During the scramble for Africa Germany wanted access to the Indian Ocean, so there exchanged walvis bay port on the Atlantic for access to the Zambezi river. But the British did not to tell the Germans about Victoria falls, make the trade one sided with Germany not able to reach the ocean because of the fall and they also give up the only port in Namibia.
Oh, interesting, thanks for clarification
Hey, I think the shortest border in the world is between Spain and Morocco near Plage de Bades.

Geography Now has a funny sketch of this negotiation lol
I'm of course biased in saying this but as a Finn I love Finland's shape, we call it the Finnish Maiden (Suomi-neito) as it looks like a human shape in a dress raising an arm, and used to be two arms from 1920-1944 until we lost Petsamo to the Soviets.
now its swedens ball sack
Another country with an interesting shape is Kiribati. It stretches across all 4 hemispheres!
How can you consider Chile to be the country with the least amount of straight line borders when literally the entire southern border with argentina consists of straight lines? That doesn't make any sense. Just look at any European country on a map and it will have less straight line borders than Chile.
A better example would be Afghanistan
Not “straight “ at all lots of small curves
May look straight on on a map but far from it. Full of curves.
Those lines are not straight at all.
@@poilusvery straight u might be blind
I think both Somalia and Panama also have unique shapes to them, Somalia being the horn of Africa, and Panama kinda looking like a hook
Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. 2:13
Use correct maps, and especially if you're into geography.
it is included on that map, it just shows it's disputed with china. also basically everyone uses that same service for maps. imagine getting triggered because roy's can't read a map
I would say Switzerland has one of the most rugged borders
In my opinion, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia have very peculiar shapes because Thailand has a part that is very narrow between Myanmar and the Gulf of Thailand, Malaysia is divided by the sea and Vietnam, well I just like to see its thin shape, I don't know why😅
My country Philippines also have one of the weirdest shapes in the world.
well it is an island nation
Looks like a dog takin a shit
Bro I thought for sure Croatia would be here
Croatias shape is a dragon!
(Coastline is its body, inland are the wings. Northwest is its head)
I think the most rugged country could be Tajikistan, Kyrgystan Or even India
The shape of Malaysia 🇲🇾 is also very interesting. Its territory also has two separate parts. The Peninsular Malaysia looks like a sweet potato while the East Malaysia looks like a dog. This is how many Malaysians describe the shape of Malaysia.
interesting when you showed countries' flags and then their shapes at the end my thoughts were actually quite different. The flags elicited more pointed, political opinions while my thoughts for the country shapes were more mellow, just like people living their lives over there.
Gambia is literally just a single river
Iran has a iconic shape
i think many people don't know the shape of iran
Related to country shapes, the world’s weirdest border dispute is between Egypt and Sudan as it includes not only area that they both want but also a small area that each side says belongs to the other. Like the nearby coastline that they’re actually arguing over, its been controlled by both in the past, but for either to claim ownership would undermine the historic map they use to justify their claim on the coast.
...Anyone else think Costa Rica kinda looks like a smaller version of Mexico?
I've never thought it that waym but, you're right.
Indonesia’s Sulawesi and Halmahera islands are both unique and has identical shape, they resemble the letter K
I knew both Burundi and Zambia as soon as I saw them. All credit to spending my entire early adolescence playing Stack the Countries
Zambia I recognized right away. Something about its shape reminds me of a scorpion. Burundi I missed completely. I expected it to be a large nation based on the screen size.
You missed out West Papua that borders Papua New Guinea. The shape the entire Island that makes up West Papua and PNG is somewhat like a Kangaroo one could say hopping above Australia.
What would be really interesting is to compare country shapes based on a population density map instead of geographical boundaries.
great idea
where is Croatia
It's not the shape of the motion, it's the motion of the nation, um, location. Nevermind.
I think USA and Cyprus has pretty similar shape
same with Nicaragua and Mexico kinda
australia and continental africa.
When I see weird shape in the title, I knew my country would be in it 🇧🇳
Papua New Guinea is pretty unique..
India, sauth africka, south america, all are triangular
Croatia? Looks like a dragon
I mean, I was thinking more about borders rather than coastlines.
In this case there's a solid reason to mention The Gambia/ Senegal. They have quite a lewd collective shape.
Tajikistan/ Uzbekistan/ Kyrgyzstan are all odd shapes due to their shared borders.
Then there's South Africa with a hole in it (Lesotho).
Shout out to Croatia denying Bosnia any coastline, too.
LITHUANIA LOOKS LIKE BRAZIL! Also, Island countries would be the least rugged
I see a resemblance to Cambodia as well.
What! Just where does Australia fit into the coastline comparisons? It’s all coastline!
If you want to see something really wacky, take a look at the state borders in Mexico!
When I memorized shape of Brunei, I made the point that the gap between smaller and larger part looks like knight
Pre WW2 Finland had a shape of a woman in dress hands raised up. Unfortunately the USSR took the eastern arm and a big part of the dress in southeastern part of the country.
Tbh bro Burundi looks more like Bangladesh
Nigeria has an iconic shape and has an almost symmetrical shape.
The main rivers Niger and Benue also illustrates this as they both flow towards each other to the center of the country and exit to the Atlantic Ocean from the middle.
The country's capital Abuja is at the center.
And the country's religion is roughly divided by half with majority Muslims in the North and Christians in the South.
Spain is a head with a toreador hat. Israel is a dagger. Algeria is a flying saucer. Honduras is the Federation symbol from Star Trek. Poland is an egg.
ok i see all of them except poland
That combined New Zealand looked more like inverted Italy
Angola also looks like a boot... upsidedown.
That combined NZ looks like a flipped Italy. Also I noticed Nova Scotia and NZ look crazy similar.
I think Bangladesh has the most complex shape in the world. Just before 2015, they had the weirdest border on planet, with worlds only third order enclave.
The arabian peninsula as a whole, is a very pleasent shape to see.
There are very few countries of which I do not have the outline memorized XD
named Burundi and Zambia next to instantly
9:20 knew this one too
My favorite country shapes are Turkmenistan's shape and Kazakhstan's shape, I simply love the way they look but I like the shapes of Central Asian countries in general :)
Croatia‘s borders are wild
Croatia deserves a mention for its shape.
New Zealand and Italy could also be a match
türkiye has a distinguishable shape, too
I would say Chile is the strangest looking country of all. Others I find interesting; Vietnam, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Somalia, Norway, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Argentina. One of the weirdest is probably 'The Gambia', in west Africa, it's a river estuary turned into a country.
I thought NZ has a very similar shape to Italy if you turn Italy upside down.
Chile Has the Longest 💀
Australia is not isolated it is close the the Valeriepieris Circle where half the worlds population live.
Sweden, huh, I always though Portugal resembled Nepal the most.
8:16 i knew which one it was lol
You could argue though that the flag of Cyprus is a map of the island, not a political statement of the state as the sovereign territories of Akrotiri and Dhekelia are also included which both sides of the Greek/Turkish communities agree on. If the flag was of the Republic of Cyprus then they would have excluded the SBAs.
What about France? With the territories, the map looks cursed 😂😂😂
Cyprus look like a mini mainland US
I would say Vietnam more closely resembles Japan than New Zealand does
New Zealand looks way more like Italy than Japan.
Coincidentally Kosovo looks exactly like the Indian state of Rajasthan
7:30 Why not Italy, also kinda looks like it.
Arunachal Prashesh is an integral part of India.
Colombia has a head and a tail
lets see who knows this, how many country borders today exist that have had zero influence by the brits
french polynesia, if you count it 🇵🇫
The shape of the Philippines is a rorschach test. You might see dinosaur, dog, inverted Y, someone's wife etc.
The United States of America has the most inhabited islands of any Country.
Liechtenstein and Luxembourg have the exact same shape
8:05 It looks more like Brazil more than Africa to me 🤷♂️
I recognized both Zambia and Burundi
me too
Afghanistan has a pretty rugged shape
I know every country shape. I think Zambia looks like someone flexing their muscles.
even like, micronesia, tuvalu, cabo verde?
Yes i knew Burundi and Zambia by shape please be impressed with me 🥺🥺
Okay I got another one: Every british European territory in the middle ages.
Croatia wan't even mentioned. 😔
Interesting, I recognized Zambia and not Burundi…
Not a country but show us your map of Tasmania.
I enjoyed this, but I must say you were a little out on the limb with, what if new Zealand's North and South islands were connected? ... And not including Alaska and Hawaii in the shape of the U.S.? Oh, that's gonna piss some people off. Though I'll admit, I instantly think of the 48 contiguous states as the nation. It's a habit.
The U.S. has the most iconic and recognizable shape and it's not even close.
Its u who thinks this way not all of us
@@theilearn999Yeah, Italy's shape is the most iconic of all
If you put North and South Korea together, it kind of looks like the letter K.
k for korea united
8:05 isnt BRAZIL looks more like AFRICA rather than chubby LITHUANIA?
Norway??
India and benglegesh
. . . How bout the Philippines?😅
My favourite country shape is Croatia
I guessed all the country shapes right, Burundi, Zambia, and the answers to the island questions and longest coastline quizes too. Make it harder 😄🎓
To me the weirdest shape is Kiribati because its islands are so far away from each other and cover all four hemispheres. Because of this, Kiribati creates time zones that shouldn't exist (UTC +14). By the way, I know every country shape on this planet.
i think micronesia is weirder. on a map of the whole country, you can barely see the islands
Where the f*** are "Litchenstine" and "Batarn"?
Us china similar shape 😅😅
US to cyprus
Australia isn't an island nation. It's a continent.
oceania is the continent
Hi.
Highlights India in the thumbnail but doesn't even relate it to the content of the video. And no Burundi no way resembles India at all.
You are one of those RUclipsrs who uses India to gain views and likes. Boot!
Biw biw
First
Congrats
you're so special
Your map of India incorrectly incorporates Pakistani Kashmir.
you really have nothing else to get mad at
