"How offensive would it be if we set up a mineral consortium on your planet?"
"You mean a rock farm? We have tons of those, it'd be fine."
...
"Unless you're mining us."
the funny thing is lithoids have gene options where they produced rare crystals, zro, etc from their bodies so they would farm themselves
That would be great as a crime consortium. Kidnapping and murdering lithoids and selling them off as minerals. Essentially organ harvesting but for rocks.
@@CassidyCope Life is full of suprises.
Just wondering how a fast food chain even works on Lithoid planets though, it said it'd give food and give a farmer job but what are they gonna do with that?
How do they know where their graveyard is kept?
The nearby empires going on here reminds me of why I have to restart so many times when playing a MegaCorp. Like oh cool, all my neighbors are fallen empires, hive minds, other MegaCorps, and genocidal robots. **Restart**. Oh cool, all my neighbors are khans, amoebas, crystals, and void horrors. **Restart**. Oh cool, my neighbors don't exist??? **Restart as Devouring Swarm**. Now all of my neighbors are friendly people who would love to buy goods... well they get eaten today I guess.
I love schnauzers and I love your profile pic!
You only restart if you are scared are you a human or a mouse be brave today
You might want to force spawn a bunch of reasonably friendly pre-made empires.
@@Noah_AWICB I restart the game if my empire spawns at the edge of the galaxy, far from the center. It has nothing to do with being scared [spawning near Isolationist is annoying but on the other hand I try to be done with them before they awake], it is pure esthetics. The center of the universe just looks more appealing to me. I wish there was a slider [since there are already so many] so I could toggle the distance from the center of the galaxy, because I kinda feel like a cheater regardless -.-
i never had that problem really, but i tend to aim to explore super fast, with like 8 scout before year 10 just to get your early contacts.
and 2 or 3 of those are simply to explore new systems only to uncover the map.
and just aim to survive till year 15 and federate fast and you can beat beat pretty much any bad start.
you also tend to get access to many more capital worlds to put down your branch office's
only restart if your fully cut of by nasty's and fallen, and ignore bordering marauder empire's unless they block you in.
just have bribes ready to ignore them and farm there events pretty much.
and most crystal, amoeba and ancient mining drones systems you can sneak through with science ships, it does need allot of micro though.

Wow, a Paradox sponsorship! That's wonderful for you!
Its like that time Nuka Cola hired Sierra to promote Quantum
A Stellaris video where the mouse is actually visible? What have you done with the real Jon?! :P
46:15 "a brand new envoy for all the members" it literally says "president modifier"
It took Nvidia MONTHS but they FINALLY fixed that bug.

*PLZ DO MORE JON, I NEED MORE DO A SERIES OF THIS*
We need another impossible run challenge, that series was so damn good.
Until the update comes out he’s not allowed to make more videos of this.
I'm still waiting for the second Subnautica video.
@@FilmsNerf2 yeah that too and more dragon age or divinity original sin 2.
@@xanderellem3646 I certainly would enjoy another impossible or impassable run challange
I love that the hive mind is willing to join the trade federation
It just wants to observe
Hell yeah. You deserve a sponsorship haha
For that brickwall Pun alone.
"Beauracracy is exciting" - MATN 2020
Thank you Jon and thank you paradox for supporting Many A True Nerd I love stellaris
What I would love in Stellaris is proper trading; Ships with commodities on trading routes, that need escorts and may be pirated without them, buying and selling cargo etc.
Prob never happen, though. I love playing as EuroCorp from Bullfrogs Syndicate series of games, so legal trading would be a decent part of my empire, alongside all the assination by cyborgs and stuff.
It'd be great, but adding all that extra traffic would tragically likely be a cause of a lot of slowdown in the late game...
Have a look at Distant Worlds Universe. It did the real-time space 4X before Stellaris, and has exactly those sorts of details - actual trading vessels, parallel civilian and government/military economy. It's more complex to get into, but easily one of the deepest strategy games around. Unfortunately it seems to be a bit difficult to get working on Windows 10. Works absolutely fine for me for some reason, but most people seem to struggle. There's a sequel coming soon though.
Check out some of the mods. They offer pretty much exactly that.
Jon has a great talent of explaining things in very understandable and entertaining way. When he knows his game well and starts to talk about it it's the best kind of MATN videos for me. Great job Jon!
He seems to know the game well now, but back in his Impossible Run he did several stupid things, even though he did understand many of the game mechanics. And - granted - he did win.
@@peterknutsen3070 Yes, I know. But that's exactly the difference between a regular gameplay, like impossible run, and "educational" video, like this one, where there's no rush or pressure, so the -1 perception doesn't matter that much.
Also, it's similar thing with Jon's Total War videos. The way he presents games like Rome: Total War, and especially Barbarian Invasions, is simply fascinating ... even though in the actual gameplay he was somehow managing to kill half his army with his own artillery on pretty much regular basis.
Typical megacorp start. Surrounded by hive minds, fallen empires and other megacorps.
Having done some experimenting on the trade per pop thing the exact numbers are: 40% of the base consumergood upkeep of any pop and in addition 0.25 flat trade for spiritualists (in the spiritualist faction. does not work with slaves) on planets of megachurches or planets with a branch office of a megachurch. This number is not modified by the pop being thrifty or not.
You mentioned it before on the last Yes Your Grace live stream
This is only the 3rd sponsered video in the history of the channel, and that's fine
What were the other 2 Jon?
IIRC one of them was another Stellaris expansion
@@sycua42 and I think the rome paradox games was the other
No, it's his 4th. There was that one time he got sponsored to promote leeks in his channel.
MeanBoye LazerCat
Which expansion was it?
@@loveless8241 that was the day I learned leeks give you the power to scale sheer mountains
Jon I love your integrity. Never change.
"Bureaucracy is very exciting" - Jon
30:30 It is Corporate Dominion Civic. It is teh basegame way to go Megacorp. They use pretty similar AI personality, but you can build Branch offise in their space.
39:40 Dunno. How bad is it to put a fast food chain on a Organic Empire Planet?
40:20 Two of those perks seem to be pretty much unviersal across all Federations. On level 1, the speed and Envoy ones are "it".
Level 3: Only seem so share Sanctity of Office
40:40 Notice that it is a president, not member modifier.
While Diplomatic Weight is primarily used for the Galactic Council, it can also be used to decide the next Federation President. Including keeping you as the player in power *indefinitely*
"+10% Diplomatic Weight for President" would thus add some innertia to whoevere is President, when that sucession type is chosen.
41:30 I am pretty sure the Military Federations have a bigger and earlier Federation Navy.
45:00 Naval Capacity is how many ships your Empire can have in total. The main increaser is all things that give you empire Sprawl.
Command Limit is how many ships/how much naval cap you can have in a single fleet. The main increaser is tech (each new hull is +10 Command Limit), but late game it tends to approach 200.
It is uncommon for Command Limit > Naval Cap. But I also doubt that it is realy avoidable with a 1 Planet Challenge to have that wierd situation
Please make this a series jon, its just starting to get good. i wanna watch more
I am so very pleased to see the return of Stellaris! Jon, your Stellaris videos were actually what brought me to the channel when I first starting playing it. Of course, hundreds of videos and watch hours later, I had scoured the entirety of Many A True Nerd's extensive list of games that I loved (or games that I didn't care for necessarily but still enjoyed watching you play them). For Stellaris, I've been watching through the previous series again - everything that's changed, all of the familiar civilizations we've come to know and love. Very, very excited for what's to come!
Aaaand that is how all sponsored videos should be done!
Series please! More would be greatly appreciated!
Really hoping this'll turn into a full series.
Congrats on the sponsorship. This looks really awesome. I hope you do more videos of this in the future, because I think I need a tutorial on Federations before I buy it.
Finally
My dreams of role playing as the Quarians from Mass Effect can be realized!
Yep, there are also mods out there that add quarian portraits if that’s your cup of tea
There really is something compelling about you playing Stellaris. I can't put my finger on what exactly gels so well, but darn, it does. Loved the Impossible Run, look forward to this playing tall challenge.
Damn, I've been looking at the devlogs as they've been updating but they've put in some fucking WORK! These changes look pretty fucking cool.
Congratulations on the sponsorship! I’ve missed this game
honestly you brought paradox to my life and i love their attention to detail in their games theyre great thanks for that
I'm glad they are finally paying you to play this.We ALL know you were going to make the same exact video regardless most likely anyways. It was you that got me started on several of my favorite games that are from them. They owe you.
I have a master's degree in Space Law. And I can confirm this is exactly how we do it.
The Diri Concern were showing as a MegaCorp because they have the Corporate Dominion civic which was the only option for MegaCorps until Le Guin. Since you are playing with the MegaCorp DLC it should not be available and is likely a bug. I have made a bug report on the forums but it would be good if you could tell them too.
Please make this a series!
Jon playing more Stellaris makes my day. I can't wait until Federations drop.
17:11 "BUREAUROCRACY!!! Yes! Bureaurocracy is now a thing. It's very exciting!" Never felt so "flipping" epic about signature recognition in my life.
Oh hell yeah, new menu screen!!!! New series to boot?
Best vid I’ve seen on federations plz keep it going ☺️
This was my first time watching one of your videos and I am very impressed, I wouldn't normally be able to watch 1 hour of stellaris, but this video was pretty good.
I'm really intrigued by some of the changes in here.
Also, all glory to the Mega Space Toad!
Thanks for the video!
This is such a great idea, I need to see more of this run! The expansion looks great too, can’t wait for the 17th!
One of the few origin sponsored vids that are actually worth a damm, GJ
i really look forward to seeing the full play through of this, it will be really interesting to see where you end up
This guy is amazing. More pls.
I remember watching this in school just before lockdown. Was absolutely amazing
Such a fun video, making me want more, not just of the video but also Stellaris..and then you had to mention the Hyperlane only patch :(
void dwellers was the one thing i was looking forward to most in this and im glad someone finaly realises how cool of a run this can be
Wooh! I need something to cheer me up after last night disaster. I was asked to look after my brothers dogs and I..... failed. The somehow got out my fence and we are right next to a highway.
...I'm glad that the first thing I check to cheer me up is you.
UPDATE: we are searching for one that has been spotted. The older dog, who has been able to get out and run off multiple times in his life knows to avoid roads, especially active ones. Hope we find him.
Update 2: We found the old dog, thankfully.
Damn this was a bit of a ride to read
Thank you, sincerely, for posting the updates on this lol! Glad the dogs are safe 🧡
I accidentally clicked on this while watching another video and I could not be more happy.
If you don't make a series with this expansion... I'm going to cry ...
This is the best video from this sneak peek series.
Plz keep going with this game love it wanna see more
Just want to say, I bought Crusader Kings 2 and a bunch of dlcs because of your vids Jon. Paradox should keep sponsoring your shows. Trust me Paradox you wont regret it.
Just pulling a Mr.Krabs "I like money"
*Honest*
I've been looking forward to seeing how this origin performs, as I'll be updating my Habitat mod come 2.6. So far it looks like they've not changed habitats much. The only thing it looks like I'll need to change is the start condition for the Origin so that the habitats come pre-built with the expansion slots to get their max size to 6.
I still think the habitat idea would work better with giving hydroponics multiple tiers like specialist buildings though.
I came back three days after watching the video to tell you: I CRAVE MORE! Please it would be wonderful to have a full series of this run. Or a similar one.
My first Federations game was also a voidborn spiritualist megacorp. Saldly, my early game had me trapped on the galactic rim between a fallen empire and Purifiers and a hivemind.
One downside to voidborn is that the massive influence cost of habs means making branch officies was very difficult. Especially when the cost to reach them (past the fe, murder foxes, and hivemind) massively increased their cost.
Eventually I joined a trade league. While not a founding member, over the decades I built more than enough diplomatic weight to make myself permanent fed leader. I also barely lost a senate vote to give myself a permanent council seat, but my weight is more than the next three highest combined.
It's worth noting that there is a population maximum to your system. Once overcrowding becomes a problem pop growth will eventually slow to a halt. At that point growth will come only from branch officies. Buuuut, if you can make yourself the permanent fed leader you'll have a free 400 fp doomstack at your disposal.
I’m a bit underwhelmed by the trade of 1 Favour for 72 Alloys... I’d have assumed you could get 4+ times as much as that for 1 Favour, even in the very early game...
I’m also worried that it might be possible to exploit the AI this way, purchasing lots of Favours very cheaply early in the game.
The favors should probably expire after their diplomatic weight doubles or sth along those lines
At the same time tho, it's not actually that cheap early, sure the numbers are smaller, but the % of your income is still about the same, because 50 alloys early is a lot more important than 50 alloys late, so it balances out pretty well
@@Corundrom true but from what I remember getting a giant stack of resources that the empire in question doesn't have isn't really that hard with the galactic trade. So exploitable but like at that point it is easier to use envoys I guess
Fabulous Flufferbum
I imagine that I’ll do a lot of trading back and forth with friendly AI empires, X stuff for 1-2 Favors, then later 1-2 Favors for Y stuff, so Favors aren’t really things, they’re points. They’re not individual tokens that are stored as separate database entries and can be given expiration dates.
Corundrom
Well, it’s a question of need and surplus. 72 Alloys is a bit more than half a Corvette for me. 6-7 months of very early game Alloy income.
I will give paradox this... the videos I’ve seen so far on the origins alone I’ve seen so many different starts. It’s no longer rush discovery or expansion. The traditions seem to have a lot more subjective relevancy
I don't suppose it's possible to rename that trading sphere into "Pan-Galactic Gargletrader", is it? ;)
Your towel's location is known!
I immediately want to read a space opera about the holy toads and their orbital churches
Very interesting angle on the new expansion, can't wait to put my own paws on it, thanks a bunch.
I was thinking, since a lot of your pops are working as specialists, Fanatic Egalitarian + Meritocracy would give you an incredible additional boost to all your specialist jobs.
F. Egalitarian: +10%
Meritocracy: +10%
Void Dwellers: +15%
Pursuit of profits (Prosperity tradition): +5%

+40%
You could still take something like Merchant guilds to get slightly more TV. Or Shared burdens for a comparatively cheap upkeep in CG.
But technically also going the other way with slaves might be interesting:
Slaver Guilds +10%
Fanatic Authoritarian: +10%
Void Dwellers: +15%
Vassal Acculturation (Domination tradition): +5%
Slave Processing Facility: +5%

Sorry if I'm the weird guy but... I love the way jon did this... gets a sponsor instead of going over the updates like a check list he decides shows how to min/max a one system megachurch.. well played jon I love it
Given the lack of food districts but the ability for minerals on habitats this build sounds perfect for a Lithoid
Are you going to continue this play through as a series?
The idea at being in habits only is so unique
You could or what you did to gee your first ascension perk but add trade policy marketplace of ideas making you go from 100 something to somewhere around 140
Oh joy! I was waiting for this
I honestly thought at a glance the name of the game was sponsored video, and this was some kinda satire youtube political sim. Apparently not but if anyone wants that idea feel free.
RUclips sim, I like it...
When you have made so many megacorps that you cannot play a megacorp because the game just populates the map with nothing but megacorps
Sponsored or not, it’s Jon playing Stellaris. I’m gonna enjoy this
I feel like they paid for something they'd of got anyway.
I like how the first thing Jon says after what he’s doing is that it’s sponsored, if it’s sponsored. More power to you, Jon :)
Gassy Mexican is back playing Prophunt & hide n seek
Felix is playing Mine craft
Everyone is playing Doom
Jim Stirling is having a go at Bethesda
And *Jon* is playing Newvegas and *Stellaris* again...
Everything is right in the world. : D
Oh yeah, I forgot they got rid of all the starting interstellar travel options apart from the ONLY ONE I NEVER USED, and completely changed the way system claiming and borders works.
With the void dwellers origin, combined with the barbaric despoiler civic, you can basically play as a marauder.
man it's cool that you can get sponsored to play a game you'd already be playing. That's why I don't mind these game sponsorships most of the time. I'm glad the developers are using this style of marketing, it's great.
my city has the coronavirus, but john got a sponsor, i think this balances.
Idea for a stellaris run: no research, only technological updates you get are from scanning and stealing things like taking someone’s planet and then having more advanced things than you can build. You are allowed science stations if for some reason you want them you just can’t ever assign research in the technology thing. Edit: you can not upgrade what you already have but you can build new things so if you destroy an enemy fleet and scan the wreckage and learn to build better lasers or something you can’t retrofit your existing fleet but you can add it onto new ships you build
A bit... Complicated of an explanation tbh
There should be a planet made 100% out of beurocratic buildings.
Can you please, please, please do another impossible run challenge when this comes out official.
The last stellaris impossible run was one of my most favourite series you've ever done and i think federations could really spice up & change the dynamic especially in the late game if the crisis gets out of hand like last time.
Be amusing with the apocalyptic world start.
Hooray! More Stellaris!
When i realized that you are never goin to have food districts my first thought was: "LIVESTOCK"
If you get an artisan troupe next to your spawn you can get +10% unity so it can be done slightly faster.
Best sponsored Federations video so far.
Ok, we got decent diplomacy, now we only need decent combat/ war and decent empire laws and factions
been looking for a video of this expansion. Thanks for letting us know about being paid to play it.. Tho i doubt that'll make much difference for anyone that's played stelaris before... and likes it!
Jon showed us how the enclaves are formed
45:55 The tenants of tabby are missing a civic. I’m assuming it used to be one of the ones that were moved to origins, like syncretic evolution?
Er probably if he didn't fix them
Jon
Praise you
i wonder if your build can out scale servitors for unity both early past the second civic, but i do know its definitely not lategame.
but ill have to see what the changes are in the expansion for robotics.
but servitors also start with double growth pop, so the habitat build is something i want to go for right away.
and if there current base pop start is anything to go of, being a mere 39 starting pop with a combined optimal 7.32 growth.
i expect to see that pop growth number staying the same pretty much, but who knows. it would be nice to triple it.
i've shit on multiplayer matches with nearly double to 1/3 more growth, then player controlled determined exterminators and devouring swarms.
also fun fact, servitor can bridge the gap between flesh being and determined exterminators, both are valid to fed with. for the ai you just need to overcome that 1k penalty.
it will be a fun challenge to get an murder ai into my lovely federation.
All hail the Hypno-Toad
All hail the Hypno-Toad
All hail the Hypno-Toad
All hail the Hypno-Toad
Ahhh man can't wait to get back into this game. 2 more days.
My biggest please is its performance fixes...no longer will my game lag like a bich mid to late game like a fat man stuck in a traffic jam
Sponsorship done right. I like this!
I broke that record of having an ascension perk by just a month earlier.
That’s a straight up disastrous start position for a megachurch. I woulda restarted after meeting the hive
Sadly it happens frequently
Can we see some sort of full playthrough with this setup?
I see lot of people dismissing about this Origin. For me it looks stupidly strong. You went for a megacorp for unity rush, but think about it, what happens when you pick Technocracy/Exalted Priesthood/Merchant guild? that's right, x3 extremely cost effective Ruler job from the get go. And it's just a detail of how strong this origin is.
