Eastern Box Turtles mating attempt

Francesca, seen on the bottom, just laid six eggs about three weeks prior to this video. Mr. Gramps, seen on top, recently slept in the leaves for three days straight and needed help cleaning crust off of his face.
Watch the end. I had to leave for a call and left a security camera on the scene to check their progress. If you thought turtles were slow, think again. Despite his persistence, I don't believe Mr. Gramps was successful today.
These are wild eastern box turtles (Terrapene carolina carolinain) in our yard in northern Virginia. We do not feed them or interfere. I will take photos of each turtle upon first annual siting in order to catalog and record growth.
