Video was super helpful! I managed to fixed my wife’s camera. Definitely a process but worth fixing it rather than sending it to Canon. Thanks for the video!
Hello, I wanted to know what type of screw you used at 1:43 in the video. I have a screw set, but I have been using a Phillips #000 screw driver. I have not seen many videos on what type of screw driver is required for this part
You forgot the disclaimer "don't try this at home". Got as far as unscrewing half of the back plate until some of the screws wouldn't unscrew and I had to give up short of stripping the screws bare... off to Canon repair shop with it...
wow! Once I unscrewed my iPhone 4 after to dry it out after 30 min in the laundry. And I did work well for the next 2 month. But that one is nothing compare it your Canon performance!
good video... i got my camera disassembled down to the back plate, but unfortunately i just can't remove 2 of the screws from the back plate- they look to be stripped. Any advice?
Hey, first of all, thanks so much for the video. Disassembling worked just fine :) However, I am stuck on the lens part (4:13). I am able to push it in, yet the lense still doesn't straighten. Do you happen to have any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? :(
Hi : First Thank you My camera G7X now do the same problem ( lens error) because it’s fell down on the floor . Second things how can I find a new battery ( for my camera G7X ) because the battery take only 5 minutes then empty
Heyy my nikon coolpix 9900 is not opening and closing properly and lens error occurs should i bring my camera to any repairing shop or just dslr repaing centr??
Hi, I've run into an issue, the screws you're taking out at 1:42 won't move and I feel like I will just strip the heads if I keep at it... any tips on this?
@@takeapart I don't believe the inner screws are phillips screws, I believe they are JIS (japanese industry standard) screws. no phillips driver will open them (easily), I've ordered a wider variety screwdriver set and will try again tomorrow. also thank you for getting back to me and I appreciate the time you took to make this video, It's a life saver :)

Hello, thank you for this breakdown. Wanted to know if you knew what the think ribbon that runs along a thicker ribbon cable that you are trying to pass through the big ring thats attacked to the sensor does The ribbon from 4:37. I had fixed the lens but while trying to run the ribbon back I ripped it. Thinking its probably best to buy a whole new lens zoom assembly. What do you think?
Hi Roberto! if you damaged ribbon cable... there is not much to do.... you can repair ribbon if possible or just buy new one via links in description...(even if they for different parts... you van reach out directly to the sellers and ask for specific part/s) . thanks for watching
@@takeapart hi just assembled everything, it seemed to all go together perfect. but when you turn the camera on the lens comes out but then it just keeps making a shutter noise and goes back in then said lens error :/ any ideas?
hi Richard , you sure is it shutter noise? tonme it sounds like gear, lens was not assembled properly and it still cannot retract lens . some plastic bit in lens must still be out of the position and blocking the motor or some internal parts . I suggest to take it a part and go over. have a look for details. also in some point... while plastic ring (with hole for ribon cables) is out you can fully retract lens and check if it’s working in all range smoothly. good luck. btw where you located? thanks
hi, mics are on top cover... try to take a part camera and see what is going on.. probably they just jumped out of the sockets when you dropped it . thanks for watching
@1:50 to 1:51, you need to pull the connector away. Unfortunately I pulled the socket with it as well, rendering the camera useless. Oh well, there goes another 1K to buy a new camera.
Does anyone know whether the G7X mark III lens is the same as the G7x mark I/II lens? I mean the lens without CCD, as I know the CCD is different in the mark III.
Hi all, this is certainly at your own risk but thought i should let you know that I fixed mine by holding the zoom between my palm and thumb and giving it a forceful wiggle, which produced a little pop. The zoom then retracted and was fixed. It now works fine and i'm hugely relieved as i didn't fancy my chances with the in-depth fix on the vid. Not to take anything away from the hard work that went in to this vid by Take Apart. I had also contacted canon who's fixed rate fix charges don't apply for drop damage , which is what this was. I was originally looking at a hefty repair charge which i now don't have to worry about. I thought i'd give it a shot based on the fact this guy went all the way through the camera to essentially pop a component back in place. Don't come at me if this doesn't work. It's at your own risk. Good luck with whichever route you go down.
hi and yes! in my case I didn’t wanted to damage delicate lens parts by applying force. but sometimes it can donthe trick. anyway I went the hard way and disassembled it all . just make sure there is no broken part inside or so. thanks for watching.
