In this video, I share with you how I make spoilboards for my 3018 CNC router. There are many ways to create spoilboards, this is just the way I like to do it. Spoilboards increase the capability of your CNC machine, allowing you to undertake more interesting and complex projects. I will be posting some follow up videos to this one including a video about Universal G-Code Sender, and how to install limit switches to your 3018 CNC machine. I should have mentioned I also added limit switches to my 3018 pro max. The work quite well. Would also love to know if I was correct re your Accent.

Very cool. I was wondering how you would attach the workpieces. Bowl turners do something like that on lathes, I believe.
I'd be tempted to use MDF to avoid flatness concerns.

Love your video and your Welsh accent sounds like South Wales as is mine I now live in Canada and am a retired senior citizen, as a result I am unable to offer support by way of paid membership membership given this info I wonder if you would consider sending me a copy of the code you used for flattening you spoil board? Also please advise what part of Wales are you from or located I just have a feeling we would not be far away if I still lived there.
How did you download the g code to the 3018-prover? Was your computer hooked up directly to the CNC machine? Or did you use the MicroSD card that you can place in the hand controller?

The T Nut 6mm link is now dead (20220806) Could you find another with the correct fit and provide dimensions so we might source locally. Upon searching for T Nuts 6M I find different sizes for what I assume are different extrusions none of which I assume are the CNC bed.
Can you recommend a reference on T Nut identification?

Paper. It's called Painters Frog Tape
Why on earth did you use solid wood????? That will forever be unstable given changes in humidity. Wood moves. Composite boards like Baltic birch plywood or even particle board would make a much better spoil board.
Honestly it's just what I had lying around. I agree that there are better woods to use, but for the practice projects I'm working on it'll be completly fine. Takes less than 5 minutes to re-face the entire board should I ever need to level it again
