Hello Collette. It is important to know how you can change the tones that your Ring device provides to you within the app so that you can ensure you hear audible alerts on your phone when protecting your home. They purposely removed changing tone capability from the Base station and keypads. This was possible in the past and with nice volume too, so, there was no need to buy a Chime Pro, but they did not like it ($). They now want to force you to buy a Chime Pro sht if you want custom sounds.
This is tiresome clunky and a huge wasted opportunity, I can not see anywhere where I can change Ring 2 doorbell, never mind the chime I want the front door to change.
Hi Kris, great question. The ability to receive vibrating alerts from the Ring app is dependent upon the type of mobile device being used to access the Ring app. You may need to experiment with your Ring app notification settings to determine if your smartphone features this ability. We appreciate you clarifying this for us. We recommend contacting your mobile service provider for more in-depth information on adjusting your mobile device's notification preferences. If you have any further questions regarding Ring devices or services, please let us know.
I agree with everyone who wants custom audio files for the doorbell chimes. The options are not great. Please work on an update to upload wav or at least mp3 files, even if it’s limited in file size and duration. That would make so many customers a fan of the doorbell and chime.

I was able to do it in each device general settings notification settings
@@dited555dited7 Yes. I figured out how to get each doorbell to have a unique notification sound within the app but, according to Ring, there is no way to have 1 chime play a different sound for each doorbell. A chime will always play the same tone for every doorbell that is connected to it.
I would love to be able to change my tone, because now my dogs recognize it and go nuts every time they hear it! It's nice to know that Ring doesn't have a developer smart enough to allow me to do that.
Does anyone know how to silence the ring chime that people hear outside? I only want the doorbell chime for inside my house, the normal house one. The ring is wired to my doorbell. Thanks!
Hello neighbor! Ensuring you know how to silence your devices outside sounds is critical. We are happy to help please follow these steps:
Log into the Ring app and open the Menu.
Select Devices, then choose your Video Doorbell
Tap the Device Settings tile and select General Settings.
You will see a volume slider for the Doorbell volume, which will allow you to silence the tone coming from the Ring Video Doorbell. We hope this helps!
Why am I not able to change the indoor chime for different devices so I know which door is being activated by the sound alone? Very strange.
Hey, Foster. Thanks for reaching out to us. Being able to change your Chime tones is vital when needing to hear who is at your home at all times, and we're here to help. Please send us a message on one of our social media sites, so that we can assist.

@@ring Not sure why Ring are saying this when it's not capable! Just been on the Ring website to find countless people with the same problem. Ended up giving Ring a one star review on trustpilot because of this
Ring people, why you removed the ability to change the ring tone on door openings on the base station and keypads on latest app updates? I had a different tone (than the default one) when I first installed the system, but I had some problems recently and I had to reset everything to factory default and now I cant find the “change tone” option anywhere to pit the one I liked and had before? Are you forcing us to buy the chime pro adapter? Do you know that the volume from the base station and keypad is enough for most people and the changing tone ability worked fine? Just why? Why? Whyy? 🤔
So, for everyone to know… in the past, you where able to do all this sound options modifications to the keypads and home base station and the sound was great, but seem Ring disable that option to forced newcomers to buy the Chime pro useless device… knowing this, you wont get fooled by any Ring advisor here telling you that you need a Chime Pro bla bla…
Hi there, Alberto. We appreciate your feedback regarding this feature. At this time, we do not offer the option to change the Chime Tone on your Base Station or Keypad within the Ring app. To ensure that we provide you with the proper support, however, we encourage you to send us a DM on Twitter or a PM on Facebook with more information about the models of each Ring device that you have. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
@@ring Can you just admit that Ring remove those options for the Base station and keypads? It will be easier for everyone. Please, edit your response from “at this time we do not offer the option…” and change it to “we decide to remove that option sometime ago to properly promote the Chime Pro” Thanks.
And is not a “feedback” from me to “improve the product”, it was an option Ring removed sometime ago.
Answer: Because they have to fix something that isn't broken. In short, RING BLOWS...wish I'd never purchased anything from them.
This feature should be totally Customizable. Every camera should have a different tone, including a personal tone that is stored on the device. For such a technologically advanced item, it lacks big time in this area
Plz add home kit support
So am I right in thinking you need to purchase a chime thing too to be able to change the tune ? I hate the default ring doorbell noise.
Hey, Gabriela. Ensuring that you are able to customize your experience and devices with Ring is vital to your overall peace of mind when protecting your family, and we're here to help. The Ring Chime allows you to choose from a variety of tones to hear when someone is at your home, but it will not change your doorbell tone itself that rings outside. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Does this apply for the ring 2 because I don't have this option. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still didn't have those options to choose my ringtones 😢
Hello Collette. It is important to know how you can change the tones that your Ring device provides to you within the app so that you can ensure you hear audible alerts on your phone when protecting your home. While this specific video is referring to the Ring Chime, you can learn more about how to change your App Alert Tones here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005889863-How-to-Use-Ring-App-Alert-Tones. Please note, you are not able to change the sound that the physical Ring Video Doorbell itself makes when it is rung, at this time. Please let us know if you have any additional questions, and we would be happy to help.

How can I change motion to vibrate on my cell maybe with pop up on screen telling me motion at my door for a nosy neighbor who figured out my sounds
Hi Kris, great question. The ability to receive vibrating alerts from the Ring app is dependent upon the type of mobile device being used to access the Ring app. You may need to experiment with your Ring app notification settings to determine if your smartphone features this ability. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I agree with everyone who wants custom audio files for the doorbell chimes. The options are not great. Please work on an update to upload wav or at least mp3 files, even if it’s limited in file size and duration. That would make so many customers a fan of the doorbell and chime.

I want the same ring tone on my "Ring 2nd Gen video doorbell, my Echo Show 5 and my phone. Is this possible.
Thank you for your message, neighbor. It's important that you have the best information about how to adjust the audio settings in the Ring app so that you can ensure that you are properly notified when your Ring devices detect motion. By navigating to your Device page in the Ring app for your Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) and tapping on the Device Settings option, you will find an option labeled "Alert Settings." From there, you can adjust the tones that the Ring app makes when your device is triggered. For more information, see here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005889863-How-to-Use-Ring-App-Alert-Tones. When it comes to Alexa devices, you may not have the option to select the same tone as you do in the Ring app. If you have further questions, please send us a DM on Twitter or a PM on Facebook.
Is there a way that you can change the tone for when it plays the sound on the outside?
Thank you for your question. Currently, there is no option to change the sound that the actual device plays. Hey Joe, thanks for inquiring. Being able to change notification alerts for your Ring is important to your peace of mind when ensuring your home is safe and secure. You can change your notification alert tones within your Ring app with the steps outlined in this link: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005889863-How-to-use-App-Alert-Tones-in-the-Ring-app. Please note that in your app, it may say "Notification Settings" rather than "Alert Settings." In this section, you may choose for your Ring alerts to be on silent, which is the only option other than an audible alert tone. Although, to achieve vibration for your Ring alerts, we suggest placing your phone in vibrate mode. Reaching out to your phone carrier may provide instructions on how to place your phone on this setting or set specific phone settings for your Ring app.

Where are the controls for the sounds on your own phone? I cannot find them anymore. My phone no longer alerts me and would like to change/reset them. I’ve searched all over this app and can find nothing. Please provide a link under all you other chime controls to access sounds for your own device. This app is horribly confusing. An expert in obfuscation could not make a worse menu system. An app’s ease of use and intuitiveness is directly proportional to how a company cares about its customers and this one gets an F.
