  • Okay it's official, Black Mirror season 6 episode 3 Beyond The Sea had the most upsetting ending of the season. Technically I've only seen the first 3 episodes, but I'm not sure how anything could beat this ending.

Something I noticed in this one was that because they spend most of their time living their earth lives aside from alerts and weekly physicals, they don't really seem like friends at all. In typical space movies and I think in real life, a crew would need to be a tight knit team that can support each other through the loneliness of space, but since they avoid that loneliness with the replicas, they don't really have incentive to bond with each other as men and partners. The little small talk they have in the beginning is surface level and they mostly say "See you Friday." That makes it even that much horrific for David because with his family gone, he doesn't even have a friend in the world up there supporting him.
Even so, I still kiiiinda didn't buy his turn at the end because he seemed like a genuinely good guy, and I know they wanted to show how the trauma affected him but it just seemed like suuuuuch a turn at the end!

Yeah I think David tries to chat with Cliff in the common room at the start and Cliff just blows him off. Even after the tragedy, he doesn't bother to spend a single extra second on the ship to keep David company. It's crazy

@@cinekizzle Right!! No "Lana I'm gonna be around a little less bc my friend needs my support right now". Just "he's all alone up there, that sucks." I feel like if he just played cards with him once in a while it would've done wonders.

Cliff was an idiot to think that telling off/belittling someone as damaged as David like that wouldn't have reprecussions

omg yes it was so silly to yell at David like that knowing his mind was so fragile! Of course that was gonna turn out bad some way or another

@CarterSlade29 Very true! I'm not justifying David's actions. But there's a way to set a boundary without telling off/belittling someone in the process. Cliff was rightfully angry about his wife, but it didn't give him the right to be cruel toward someone who lost everything he ever cared about.
